Hi. I missed your Madonna reactions! This whole album is just a vibe. And she looks stunningly beautiful in this era. Her vulnerability and master of her craft is striking and gorgeous and gets me in the feels. Great review and I always love yr enthusiasm and way of expressing yrself. Her Celebration Tour is stunning and she has outdone herself covering a 40 year career that is second to none. She slays on this tour and leaves you in no doubt about who the actual Queen is.j
Something to remember which was released in November 1995. The greatest hits on ballads sold 10 million albums worldwide and you’ll see was a top 10 hit world wide reaching no.6 in the USA and no.9 in Australia. The reason for the improved vocals was she was in vocal training for evita. Loved you’ll see which is my 3rd favourite ballad from Madonna behind live to tell and frozen
Such a great collection of beautiful ballads from Madonna. It really shows the original vocal talent of Madonna❤Each song here fits perfect and is timeless.
I don't think it was mentioned, but "I Want You" is a cover of a Marvin Gaye song that was originally planned to be part of a tribute album. Chaka Khan was the original planned vocalist, but backed out, and Madonna took her place. Since you asked "Who is Massive Attack?" you should review one of their albums. I would start with "Mezzanine" and "Blue Lines".
Madonna's not just a versatile singer/artist, she's also an extremely wise business woman. This album was the perfect bridge between Erotica/Bedtime Stories and her upcoming Evita era. Not only was she in the midst of shooting the next era, but everyone was already talking about it when this album and the singles were released. Madonna already received so much flack for being too sexual and promiscuous from her earlier 90's stuff, by the time late 1995 came around, the Evita speculation brought commentary criticizing her acting ability and whether she had the vocal chops for a full-on musical film. Something To Remember was a clear reminder that she most definitely had the vocal ability to carry the musical. And yes, You'll See is one of her most incredible vocals added to her archive of beautiful ballads. Fell in love all over again with the You'll See video.
In 2013, the artwork for the album (by Mario Testino) was dubbed as one of the *"20 Most Fashionable Album Covers Ever"* by the _Dutch_ edition of *Elle* magazine. Madonna's *Primetime Live interview* is one of her best, deepest, honest, most emotional interviews.
"Liked" immediately. It's ranked my number 7 Madonna album, and the highest placement of a compilation album. This is the original "surprise album drop" with, as I understand it, little to no pre-promotion. It was a very under the radar release. I remember just seeing it appear in the record store one day out of nowhere! As she says in the liner notes (from memory, paraphrased) "My career and persona often overshadow my music. I wanted this to be about the songs". Ok, my adjusted reaction. Boo to not listening to all the songs. I know you've heard some, but not as a compilation together. They all work together beautifully with each other. The sum is greater than its parts. Also I Want You was originally intended as the album's first single, but cancelled due to contract problems between Madonna's label and Motown Records, the copyright owner of the song. I love both versions but prefer the cinematic orchestral version. You'll See became the lead single, the video is a sequel to Take a Bow video. Oh Father video released in countries that it was held back from during the LAP era. Love Don't Live Here Anymore video she was a few months pregnant with Lourdes, and it went top 40 in Australia. Re Whitney Houston dream... it had happened to her in real life! th-cam.com/video/AaoJTB_Jnhg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xNn-o4eIQgZrKUrg
One More Chance is a highlight for me on this compilation album. Co-written and co-produced with David Foster who is one of the greatest music producers of all time. Very acoustic indeed and direct. Madonna’s voice is so creamy and smooth. All songs showcased Madonna’s vocal range where she can sing ballads as well. Her vocal training for Evita really paid off and the new songs on this album displays her deliverance. I am proud to be a fan. Love the album cover and artwork too. Bless. 🎵🎼
Her vocals on the new tracks were so different because she had started her Evita vocal lessons. ❤❤ Also the video for I want you was filmed in her then NY home.
My first Madonna album. Well, my sister's, I was 8 then. I remember singing You'll See with my non-existent English. With feeling too... Still that sensitive boy I am, I love this album.
Massive Attack is probably the most important and inventive Trip Hop Trio. Their "Unfinished Sympathy" caught me deeply when i was 11 back in 1991 - still can't live with that iconic band
Madonna was pregnant when she recorded the video for Love Don’t Live Here Anymore so it’s partially stretched, shot from afar but if you look at her tummy at the end you can see she’s got a pretty big bump. I Want You is a cover of a Marvin Gaye song - she didn’t write it. So is Love Don’t Live Here - which is a Rose Royce song. The Spanish version of You’ll see and video are great
My all time favorite album! Loved your reaction specially the evolution of your appreciation for _I Want You_ . Its lyrics are supposed to be kind of basic because it's about a woman longing, strongly desiring another person; in that state there are more feelings (like desire, fear, anxiety) than words and Madonna shows it in her vocal interpretation. Also at the end of the video she hangs up the phone: that's a statement, meaning she won't be controlled anymore by the other person, always waiting for his call, for a bit of his attention (is her lover married and that's why she's wainting for him in a hotel room???). It's Madonna empowering herself like she does in *You'll See* . The video was inspired by and pays homage to *A Telephone Call* , a short story written by American writer, *Dorothy Parker* .
Love your reviews of madonna so much ❤ I totally agree it wasn't as strong after erotica and bedtime stories but I do have to say I think personally she looked her absolute best in this era, the versace campaign cover of the album is beautiful ❤
The interviews from this era have been some of her best. Some really introspective interviews. For the first time in the public eye she seems vulnerable and hurt from all the media’s and public perception of her following her most controversial moments a few years prior. Some interesting interviews that come to mind are the Primetime Live interview (chart dream clip), VH1 One 2 One, and the interview with Heike Makatsch 😏
David Foster has worked with everyone and has won 16 Grammy Awards. He was married to Linda Thompson, mother to Brandon & Brody Jenner (Caitlyn's sons) and also married to Yoland Hadid/Foster from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, mother to Gigi & Bella
🩵 Her vocals on You’ll See are her vocals after the rigorous Evita training to open up her range. The AMAZING thing about your reaction is that you’re perceiving her incredible vocal on Love Don’t Live Here Anymore as a next step UP but that vocal is from 1985! It’s the same vocal from her cover of the song on her Like A Virgin album, but on a rearranged instrumentation. All of which only goes to show that people who rubbish her vocals either haven’t heard her best or they’re just determined to be full of sh*t
Great reaction as always! - Make sure you also listen/watch the video for 'Verás', the Spanish version of You'll See and her first song entirely in that language! - the I Want You video is one of her best IMO, try and watch it again without being on camera and focus on the details, the great cinematography, the storyline... It's a great piece of art! The eyelash sinking is like a metaphor for her emotions, IMO, like she's drowning in her anguish and it never stops sinking. It looks like it's a toxic relationship issue, and the person she was grieving for just abused her once again on the first call and after that they try to call her again? It seems toxic and that's the moment she wakes up to that and take an attitude, she cuts contact even if it's still painful. It's pretty well done and very well enacted! - and yeah I also prefer the orchestral version ;)
I’m afraid you’ve missed three songs 😢 I’ll remember, Crazy for you and This used to be my playground (and coincidentally all of these are soundtracks).
Someone else mentioned that “I Want You” is a collaboration with Massive Attack. Madonna is a big fan of them and was originally in talks with them to sing on another song they have called “Teardrop” which ended up going to another artist named Elizabeth Frazer. Madonna really wanted it but eventually got the chance to do this cover with them and it’s a masterpiece, imo. If you have the opportunity, you should do a reaction to Massive Attack’s “Mezzanine” album. I think you’ll like it a lot. Also, “You’ll See” was recorded during the same period she was recording for “Evita” which she trained vocally like she never had before because that project was very demanding and she wanted to make sure she met the expectations she would be judged for. That’s why her vocals were so good there and remained that way through the “American Life” album.
Love following your Majourney. Definitely the best and most in depth reaction to Madonna’s very long and very wonderful career. Moving era to era, you realise just how versatile she is. A once in a generation talent.
Often Summertime equals romance and love affairs (Take a Bow video); Often Fall season equals depression, loneliness and breakup (You'll See video). The music video for "You'll See" was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography in 1996. Shirley Bassey included a cover of the song on her 1996 album The Show Must Go On. Scottish singer Susan Boyle also covered the song for her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream (2009).
The Spanish version of this album includes the Spanish version of "you'll see" titled "verás". I'm mentioning it as a curiosity in case you're interested in seeing it. It is available at this link th-cam.com/video/nnDRjGaCAf4/w-d-xo.html
He had already reacted to these songs. This use to be my playground was reacted prior to his erotica album review and I’ll remember was reacted prior to bedtime stories
If you love the production on I want you, I would love for you to react to massive attack( who did this track with madonna), blue lines, protection and mezzanine are absolutely fantastic albums with some of the best production ever.
Yaaaas the M'journey continues. Thank you for feeding the public. Now please dont take this as a criticism but at this current rate you wont be done with the journey for another 3 and a 1/2 years as we are only 12 years into a 40 year career. Us Madonna fans want you to be able to understand WHY people call the new Dua Lipa Houdini the Gen Z "Hung Up" and that album is another 12 year away on the Madonna timeline which at this pace you will get to in 2025 😬. I understand that you have lots of reactions to get to but the QUEEN OF POP deserves to be top of the list 😉🤣. A year and a half later you still havent seen the Vids to Ray of Light which is where you started. Only sending this because im a fan of you and your page and want you to have the knowledge from the Pop bible herself. 😊
So great to watch your reaction to this album, I was working in musicland when it came out and we played it all the time in the store! Absolutely love having all the ballots together, although a few are missing like look of Love. She did have some other interviews during this time I think there was one from vh1? She looks so beautiful with the white dress on the cover, the Versace filled a shoot that she had for this was stunning!
Heyyy @bennshouts ☺ Great videos, great "feeling the M vibe", great commentary and honesty! Greetigns from Sweden 🇸🇪 A quick comment on Massive Attack. They´re actually a really cool band from the UK. The music you are trying to describe is called "Trip-Hop" and Massive Attack can be considered as the ones who invented and perfected this musical genre. I highly recommend you to listen their first two albums: "Blue Lines" and "Protection". You´ll see (no pun intended 😆) the connection to "I Want You"! My all time favorites of theirs are: "Unfinished Sympathy" (AMAZING! Shara Nelson doing the vocals), "Safe From Harm", "Daydreaming", "Protection", "Sly", "Angel", "Teardrop" (originally part of the group wanted Madonna to sing the vocals..) and "What Your Soul Sings" (Sinead O´Connor doing the vocals). When you have time, give these a listen! You´ll trip..... 😃
Benn baby…. I can’t even begin to tell you how special “You’ll See” is to me. My late father’s favourite Madonna song. When his wife (My stepmother) passed away he was so grief stricken, We sat in the car on the way home from her funeral and we both wept our hearts out. 😢 (So I’m so touched that it made you tear up too.)
Aww T 😭 That is so precious! I am so glad you had this moment and this song to be there for you, it's honestly one of her best, so it makes perfect sense that it would affect you that much! ❤️ Sending you all the love!!!
No “I’ll Remember” or “This Used to Be My Playground”? I’m guessing they weren’t on intl version bc they were def on the US. The officials videos are on here.
You really should give a listen to Massive Attack if you are not familiar with them. “ blue lines “ and “mezzanine” are two amazing albums from the 90s
I adore this compilation album. Just one little complaint - she didn't include Bad Girl, I Can't Forget and You'll Stay to this album. All 3 songs should've been here for sure
Does anyone know how this version of Oh Father differs to the original version on Like a Prayer? The differences must be super subtle cause I can't hear any
@@gozzywozzy485 Hm, I just compared them second by second on Spotify and the outro sounds the same. Maybe Spotify has the LAP album version on STR despite calling it "Alternate"
Can you imagine final night of the rebel heart tour sydney , the final night of the whole tour and Madonna sings Love Don’t Live Here Anymore , the real Madonna comrades like me were fuck me , wow , Thankyou ❤ not a fan of one more chance or hey you … let’s forget about those ones
Also I want you is a Marvin Gaye cover , for an album called inner city blues , production on the track Massive Attack , Blue Lines a change in sound 1990
I'm a little lost here... am i missing something???... Have you already reacted to I’ll remember, Crazy for you, This used to be my playground, Veras (You'll See spanish version) and its videos? Or are those reactions on Patreon?
I know all the Madonna songs. I like the big hits but these are the songs I listen to over and over. It's too bad there wasn't a proper promotion of this album. Only the die hard Madonna fans know about it.
Huh? What are you talking about? The album sold over 3 million (triple platinum) in the US alone and over 10 million worldwide more than her two previous studio albums. Madonna did lots of promotion including tv interviews, Top of the Pops performance, Spin and New Musical Express magazine covers. And she shot three big budget music videos for the new songs. She also had dedicated TV specials to promote this album on MTV and VH1
@@bronaghisgay in some countries it charted, it was not a. US single nor was it marketed as a single. Some of her singles gain traction and attention in other countries and get a international release
It is a bit odd to see a reaction to anything musical without headphones. (And Madonna needs all the help she can get from headphones tbh...lol) "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" while not a Madonna song is a beautiful song.
It’s edited for my REACTION, not for the song…. You know the song already, if you want to hear it, go listen to it. It’s also edited to avoid copyright lol.

Your Redbull addiction might actually rival mine. 😂❤ I wish you lived in the US. I would invite you to a Redbull Madonna 90’s karaoke 🎤 “date”. 👯♂️
HAHA a red bull karaoke sesh! Love it!
Love ya babes ❤❤❤
Love youuuu!!!
"One more chance" est ma préférée... Guitare sèche, violon et voix pure de Madonna.
Been all over the internet looking for a review of VÉRITÉ's new album love you forever. Why is everyone sleeping on her?😭
I was left waiting on the I'll remember reaction/video and this used to be my playground too!!! React to those please!!!
No “I’ll Remember” or “This Used to Be My Playground”? I’m guessing they weren’t on intl version bc they were def on the US. The officials videos are on here.
Yeah I've reacted to them
Wheres "MUSIC" Album? 😢 can´t wait
5 years in the “Mjourney” to go yet!
You really should give a listen to Massive Attack if you are not familiar with them. “ blue lines “ and “mezzanine” are two amazing albums from the 90s
I wished the album included 'The look of love' from the Who's that girl soundtrack 😪 It could've easily have been the 15th track..
I adore this compilation album. Just one little complaint - she didn't include Bad Girl, I Can't Forget and You'll Stay to this album. All 3 songs should've been here for sure
Oh Father isn’t a remix, it’s the same as the Like a Prayer LP version, HOWEVER, great call getting you to rediscover it 😉
Omg haha agreed, love the rediscover!
"Whoever this David Foster guy is" has me dying🫠💀
Does anyone know how this version of Oh Father differs to the original version on Like a Prayer? The differences must be super subtle cause I can't hear any
I think the wonderful outtro is slightly longer here
@@gozzywozzy485 Hm, I just compared them second by second on Spotify and the outro sounds the same. Maybe Spotify has the LAP album version on STR despite calling it "Alternate"
The bridge on One More Chance always lets me down. It sounds very demo-ish to me. I like the rest of the song though.
Love the titletrack; from the "Dick Tracy"-soundtrack ❤❤
Can you imagine final night of the rebel heart tour sydney , the final night of the whole tour and Madonna sings Love Don’t Live Here Anymore , the real Madonna comrades like me were fuck me , wow , Thankyou ❤ not a fan of one more chance or hey you … let’s forget about those ones
Also I want you is a Marvin Gaye cover , for an album called inner city blues , production on the track Massive Attack , Blue Lines a change in sound 1990
Sounds magical!!!
Umm when you go see Madonna , it’s unparalleled, she really is the best , you can’t stop watching her it’s magic
Evita would be next! And would you redo Ray of light again or skip?
I think we’re going back in with it!
I'm a little lost here... am i missing something???... Have you already reacted to I’ll remember, Crazy for you, This used to be my playground, Veras (You'll See spanish version) and its videos? Or are those reactions on Patreon?
Yep, I've already done them, they're on TH-cam and Patreon xx
Please, react to the Ray of light videoclips era!
Madonna - Primetime Live interview (complete with teaser) (1995) please react this interview is beautiful
I love a repertoire which takes you on a journey. Try Kylie.
Haha, been doing Kylie too.
She was CHEATED out of a GRAMMY NOMINATION for YOU'LL SEE yo... I mean DAMN ❤
I always wished that one more chance had been a single
"One More Chance" was released as a single...
@@bronaghisgay in some countries it charted, it was not a. US single nor was it marketed as a single. Some of her singles gain traction and attention in other countries and get a international release
You must to react to Evita the movie. Better than you Just listen to the album.. watch the movie.
If u want a POWERFUL ballad in the 90's: David Foster
It is a bit odd to see a reaction to anything musical without headphones. (And Madonna needs all the help she can get from headphones tbh...lol)
"Love Don't Live Here Anymore" while not a Madonna song is a beautiful song.
Hate listening with headphones while reacting
you know Madonna wouldn't approve of you drinking a redbull lol
she'll get over it ;)
@@bennshouts im sure she's over it already haha. love your reactions to Madonna!
the editing is so messing we loose tack of the melody, and the delivery is just loose words
It’s edited for my REACTION, not for the song…. You know the song already, if you want to hear it, go listen to it. It’s also edited to avoid copyright lol.
She’s def evil Illuminati but I still love her music lol
Keep going, mate!
PS. Get a haircut.
Nah, mullet is here to stay
