  • Hello! Hanna here with a new clip! I have been enjoying freediving throughout my pregnancy, I'm around 7 months in this video and having a great time in the clear waters of the west coast of Barbados. This video is filmed by Port St Charles and you can see one of the amazing mega yachts in the background here. My fellow divers here are; my mum and my two friends Amaia and Camille.
Often this jetty is so murky and we never see the pillars this clear! feels like a sign that summer and all the amazing visibility that brings is on the way!
Pregnant freediver is not something you hear allot about, there is not much info out there, but to me I am an instructor and I am very in tune to my body when freediving. I don't recommend doing this if you are inexperienced, but just like allot of people who surf or run or work out if you did so before pregnancy and it feels good to continue then listen to your body. For me surfing didn't feel right around 3 months so i stopped, but many ladies surf right through their pregnancies. Of course I don't push to my limits, always have buddies around who I have personally trained and feel safe with as well as making sure to leave enough surface interval between dives so that there is little or no nitrogen build up. The baby is essentially surrounded by amniotic fluid and since water doesn't compress water there should be no risk of barotrauma at these depths. I also never dive close to a state of hypoxia, pregnant or not I train and dive as safe as possible within my limits.
I will soon stop teaching, About 7.5 months pregnant now, but I will continue to freedive myself and will be spending more time doing these fun videos! I have lots of footage stacked up and have been too busy to edit it! So stay tuned for lots more content coming your way!
The music for this clip is by Phil Grip aka Moon Man (@phillgrip on IG) who has allowed me to use his music for allot of my clips! Thanks Phil! This song is called Japan

Well , you can explain all you want. The baby doesn't have a choice, but you do. And YOU want to keep freediving. Ok... 😱

@@JohannaLA13 Nope, I don't, but that doesn't refute my point being that the risks of freediving while being pregnant aren't fully known or well documented yet. Conclusion: better safe than sorry?

@@jessiecherall5041 I highly recommend you watch the TH-cam film “lessons from Jeju”
And yes that’s true we don’t know all the risks, but personally I don’t feel as though I am risking my babies health in any way and the knowledge I do have about freediving pregnant is that it’s safe to do so within certain limits. All my scans show a very healthy child and there is nothing so far to suggest otherwise. Ultimately it’s my decision and it’s my child. And I feel that I’m making the right decisions for both considering both my mental and physical health as well as the health of my baby.

Why would anyone wish to reduce oxygen supply to their own Foetus
