Love Death Stranding, those that think it's a "walking simulator" really need to open their eyes to just how well sculpted the world and story are. I'm replaying it on PS5 right now as I never got round to finishing it on PS4 and I've honestly spent the last few days grinding out on building the road network to help all the other couriers out there keep on keeping on.
Reality is, it is a walking simulator 🤷♂️ even the creator joked about it. But that doesn't mean that's all it is, there is so much more to this game but sadly most people get bored with walking everywhere early on and delivering packages back and forth. The game starts off really slow but the story is so deep and interesting, that's what kept me hooked. That's what kept me pushing forward, to find out more. I honestly needed to know and I refused to just look it up.
I never understood how the player interaction works. Weak part, it should be like some kind of ant colony optimization algorithm I guess ... tomorrow together. Better in the next version I hope.
I know this is two years later, but I just recently got the game on PC and find myself doing the exact same thing. I probably could be most of the way through the game right now, but something about it just makes me stop and say "I better spruce this place up for the others before I move on." Not many games provoke such a strong feeling of altruism throughout, but having hiked through wildernesses and over massive mountain ranges, I find myself appreciating how much the zip lines and roadways are going to help those who follow after. It's my little way of telling them to keep on keeping on, just as others before me have done.
This was the part of the game where I knew for a fact that I was going to get stuck in this game and enjoy every moment of it. My instincts were not wrong.
Yeah, march 2020, everything had just closed and I was in confinement with my roommate. I played this game while there was a snowstorm outside. When that scene kicked in, shivers. I don't know why exactly, but this game really struck a chord with me, I'd wake up, boot the game and play until I'd go to bed. Damn I wish I could experience it again for the first time.
I finished the game in December and am still playing it just to help others keep on keeping on. It's the best gaming experience out there if you only open your eyes.
Legit this will stick with me forever I feel so bad I never got to play this until years later and heard the singer passed away. Kojima is a genius and I'm tired of pretending he's not.
Im literally crying now. Just remembering the good times i had playing this game. Life change game. Masterpiece. I hope someday people can understand that this game was the best game ever made. Thanks Kojima.
This game was clowned on for being a “walking simulator” which at the beginning of the game it may seem that way but as you progress and learn more about the characters and BB it starts to get incredibly interesting. Gotta give playstation a pat on the back for this one.

Years gone by, and this is still one of the best moments ever in my gaming experience. I don't know exactly why, but the music fits perfectly into the situation, it's so well thought. Also, I remember that I got goosebumps also, just because of the music and the environment.
man I only discovered a few days ago that I had this game on epic store when it was given away I forgot I got it tied to my account and when I played through this section it was quite an awesome feeling, had a massive smile on my face the entire time this song played through.
Anyone noticed how much this world is like the world of "Oblivion", complete with Iceland vistas and craters. Also: 1:02 must be the only place where you find an actual animal, albeit only in the form of a carcass (maybe there are birds around one of the Knot Cities?)
IMO they created the terrains after they timed the walking so the song's chorus actually starts when he walks beside the waterfall. Then knowing that beginners will not wander freely or stop, they created the far river bank so the song ends when he reaches it. *Crazy*
The only down side to this game i can think of, is not having a cassete to play any song at any time in this world, only stuck with structures, which you dont spend so much time with, i really wish i could listen to any song while working my way on this vast and dense world
i was enjoying this moment until my hoarder mode activated and i started searching for more crates XD i;ve just started playing, i am at this moment in lake knot city and i gotta say the game so far is just amazing

You're basically a FedEx delivery man.... you build roads, you occasionally drive an off road vehicle or a motorcycle. You get attacked in certain places by the disembodied spirits of the dead, but you carry an invitro baby with you to warn you of them. The game play is pedantic and monotonous. The story line is haughty, self-aggrandizing, preachy, weird, and full of Hideo Kojima's attempts to explain the unknown with scientific mumbo jumbo. If you can stomach the cut scenes(in fairness not all are that bad) it does have a immersive soundtrack and world to explore. It really is just half a game, the other half is Kojima sitting in a sweat lodge with a gram of peyote.
The rest of the game doesn't look quite as good as the beginning. Idk you can definitely tell this was originally developed for ps4 anyways. I wish there were some more graphical options, denser foliage and pushing out the lod distance. Hope ds2 is more modern in that respect, gonna wait to play on pc.
What did you play it on? Pc? If so really? I thought every major city and even the some of the smaller prepper camps looked stunning. Let alone going up or coming down mountains was always a breathtaking.
Its exactly at this moment in the game, as soon as this amazing song starts playing, you realise this is a special experience!
I was the same!

For me, it was when you crest the mountaintop overlooking Port Knot City as "Asylums for the Feeling" comes on. This was a close second though.
