I remember dying to that BT section, waking up with a massive crater in the ground, and thinking I've fucked everything up. But seeing port knot city and realizing that despite everything, it's all going to be okay was a feeling that games had never given me before.
I feel that way too! All of Kojima work has captivated me since 1998, and ive been playing his games almost every year since. I really love Metal Gear and cant wait for Death Stranding 2! 👍
I’ve found myself watching/listening to these for the ambience. And I’ve realized. Death stranding captures exactly what life is. That’s why it’s such a unique everything. Life is a journey. All you can do is keep on, keeping on. You can stop if you want, but those “deliveries” that require your hand will never cease. We’re all Sam from the start and end. We just kinda troll over what’s been layed before us. Only those who’ve endured would ever find an understanding in it’s working.
What a philosophical but simple word. MGS, which is active as a spy in a complex mechanics, was one of the gears of the nation, I felt that this game was a personal life because the government was broken.
I think alot of us share your same feeling. I remember feeling stunned by the sight, of which i was already amazed by up to this point. Its really a special game
The environment and story is stellar, but the EXTREMELY repetetive gameplay kinda ruined it for me. To the point I couldn't even finish the game. I'm considering trying again, but holy crap those missions are boring as hell.
Im sorry to hear that 😣 its not an overly long game so if you do give it another try, you might be close to the end already, i only really experienced a feeling of repetition during my platinum journey which ended up taking 150 hours 🙄 that required alot of back and forth that didnt really contribute to a good time, getting 5 star on each porter was a bit much
I remember playing for the first time this part of the game. I didn’t like the game at first and was about to give up, but then, after all that extremely painful BT part, going out of the scariest point of the game so far, just standing there, looking at Port knot with this song… I think I just stood there listening to the music and admiring the scenery. In that very precise moment I knew this would’ve become my favourite game of all time
I find, like with great films or great books, it's the challenging parts that make them great. That moment when your struggle to pick up what it's laying down is rewarded, and you understand you're having a unique, unprecedented experience.
I was exactly the same. Was about 8-10 hours in and wasn't super enjoying it and was at the point of..."ill give it one more session then probably stopped". Somehow something clicked and I was hooked until the end. Moments like this one in the game are some of the best I've experienced in gaming.
This game was so well designed. All the systems seem overwhelming at first but then it all clicks on this delivery. This is the first time in the game where you have to make synergistic uses of the games systems to complete the delivery. When this music kicked in I knew, this was one of the best games ever and Kojima is a genius. Cant wait for DS2.
Right after this part i was completely hooked, and just anxious to see what was on the other side of the sea, not the best game, but oh boy what an experience
I have completed the game and still shiver at the sound of my odradek triggering that BT encounter animation. every single f'ing time. What a game! Now I keep wandering places in search of lost cargo and keep doing my daily deliveries until I reach that Porter grade 500
Death Stranding really is one of its kind.. I thought it would be boring. I mean, how exciting can delivering cargoes be? Then I started the game, I fell in love with the slow walks accompanied with such beautiful music. Truly exceptional.
There is definitely a fine balance, you dont want a game to be aimless, but you also dont need to make sure a player is constantly engaged and stimulated. I think lots of gamers are capable of being let free to enjoy a game on their own terms, aslong as theres enough tools and systems to have fun with 👍😁
98% of the negative reviews were trolls on meta critic, this game is very positive on steam because you have to buy a game and PLAY it to review it, unlike metacritic.
@@thewanderingartists With all the people that I talk about the game and give me negative reviews, I ask them if they have played and they say no. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
To all the fellow gamers that were in my world that helped build the highway within the first few hours of my playthrough. Thankyou legends. Loved this game when it came out.
@Aiwe bro you probably helped. I loved seeing everyone's involvement with making the journey's easier. Thinking how can I make it and then you see someone's marker.
@@brandonclarke274 if you see roads with the name Vierz, or ziplines going through all snowy mountains, that was me, i think i connected all bases in the mountains.
It really was, i remember being terrified about trying to get up that hill, i hadnt had much encounters with BTs up until that point, i got to the windfarm without much trouble
It's so crazy how Kojima can make a game where in one moment you enjoy a nice hike, next you are in the scariest horror game, and then reward you with a movie-like scene where YOU are the main character. Death Stranding always was more of a movie, than a video game to me.
I can see why you think those things, kojima has always tried to blur the line between games and films. But to me it the interaction part that makes a game, and i think for all his games, even MGS4 and Death Stranding, they are very interactive experiences and for games thats so important to me. The less interactive the experience is the less immersed i become while playing. Its funny how for kojimas games i actually enjoy cutscenes, unlike most other “movie games” 👍
I love how the video's progress bar shows you that the overwhelming majority of people who watch this, watch through it completely. I think at this moment we all slowed down to listen to the entire track while admiring the scenery. So simple a concept and yet such a great feeling to just... walk through the world and take it all in.
Its amazing how much this part resonates with so many people, i love seeing all the fans talk about their experiences, this game seems to mean alot, its story and soundtrack are so memorable
I play video games for 20 years and Death Stranding is on the first place. The most amazing , atmospheric , incredible gameplay and art direction of all times. Then the games from From Software , then Valve video games. Enough said.
Yeah from software are so damn good, standing on at the base of the high wall of lothric castle, not yet realising that you are overlooking almost the entire game world, once i found out it blew my mind
Dont worry! At the very least you can get to play Death Stranding 2 blindly 😊 i have spoiled great games too by watching first 😔 as long as you had fun thats what matters
this game triggers emotions on a scale hither to undreamt of, though mostly confusion and bewilderment, but I've never felt so excited to be confused and bewildered. Can't wait for DS2.
He is such a talented man and so are the team -- he had his vision and really manifested it. You are looking at the result of true passion, emotions, deep feelings and thoughts, his dreams while awake and while he slept. That urge to grasp hold of a beautiful song right upon waking -- this is the chase.
I wish more devs would think outside the box like Dead Space did, Health always visible on your back, see your ammo on the gun when aiming, that kind of thing
This was such an iconic moment for me, after I fought a BT boss on their territory and got all my cargo back and then went down the mountain and this track played, man it felt so good. Playing this game on the hardest difficulty made me appreciate this moments of peace even more.
Hardest difficultly is the right way to play, infact you can only do premium deliveries on Hard, atleast in the original version, not sure about Directors cut 👍
Yeah its a shame because it did add alot of new gadgets and gizmos that are really fun to play with, one day though im sure youll get your hands on it either on PS5 or PC 👍 or at the very least we have the sequel to look forward to, and if MGS is any indication to go off of, i bet the second game will be a huge evolution and improvement 😁
Me too, it was a feeling i hadnt felt before, a feeling of isolation and yet complete bliss. It was the closest ive felt to escaping the real world, and forgetting im just playing a game. It made me feel totally zen
Yeah we definitely did, some of my favourite games ever ended up in that generation. Nioh and Nier, Monster Hunter World and Red Dead 2. Man even MGSV was all i played for so long back when i was playing xbox..
When you look at this video game, you will be reminded by hideo kojima fucking that nature is simply a beautiful thing. That's the feeling when playing Death Stranding. thanks hideo, awesome!
Kojima always knocks it out the park, even when he doesnt quite get it right. I know i still love MGS4 and MGSV, even if they arent as perfect as we could wish for, they are still amazing even for what they are
I finished this game last week, after stopping midway through the story almost 9 months ago. I've got to say this is one of the best game I've ever played, for some reason it relaxed me everytime I was playing it, I was just thinking about life in general, the connections with my friends and family, this game gave me a lot of valuable lessons.
I know exactly what you mean, i felt the very same way while playing, i think alot of us did, its a totally zen experience. When i go for a walk it always gives me time to think, its good for the mind and body 😊
I love that you are still liking comments on this video. Death Stranding is timeless, easily one of the best games I've played, can't believe it took me so long to actually play it 🙏
I always try to read the people who comment, i love seeing you all talk about your journey or love for this game and music. It makes me really happy knowing theres still alot of love left for gaming 😊👍 thank you for stopping by and im glad you finally got to play death stranding 😁
I played this game when I had a major mental breakdown, to a point I had trouble breathing. By playing this game with those scenes and music literally saved me, it made me forget about the near past and just stick with present and move on, helped me draw all those thoughts away and made me as calm as I ever been. This is not the best game I've played, but it certainly is the most special, showed me how art can be shown so many different ways, truly a masterpiece.
Im glad you found peace in this game I think alot of people did concidering most of us played this through 'the big cough'. I know it brought me alot of comfort and peace, i hope the sequel can bring similar experience that few games offer
You get past the mountainous BT area, who you are still learning to deal with. You see a glimpse of Port Knot City still far away, but looks like a straight bee line from the top of the cliff, looks safe. And then the music starts. The game knows you will slow down and be relieved to have passed the danger and the goal is in sight. We, the players, understand what the game is trying to do, this is something only a video game can do as a medium. You understand you need to take a step back and let the game take back control, so you decide to slow down and enjoy the ride. It is so difficult for a game to take back control of the game and the camera out of a player's hands without entering a cinematic and making the player feel like he has to drop his controller. You are in a near cinematic sequence and yet you are still engaged as you have to keep walking towards your goal. The only other instance of such a moment I remember from a video game is the Red Dead Redemption 2 Manor scene.
I really thank you for your comment, this was so great to read, you can always tell a true gamer by the way they describe the experience. Its so much more than just earning points and leveling up. Im glad the game left the impact on you as it intended to. Sorry it took me a long time to reply, ive had a new job and its been a bit of a revamp of my lifestyle 😊👍
I agree, MGS1 was top down classic static camera, MGS2 went hybrid by adding more control of the camera and first person gunplay, MGS3 gave full 360 control and 4 & 5 pushed for more of a main stream action, open world that kind of thing. Even Peace Walker added a whole leveling, collection base building element where you build up an army and develop new gear, i loved Peace Walker alot, added a whole new level of replayability 😁
It would have been great if more did, but i think it was made more for the people who would enjoy it, rather than trying to appeal to everyone, its good to take risks with games, it pushes the industry forward and creates new exciting ideas
Im gonna assume what they probably meant "its sad not more people enjoyed this game" Sales arent really much to go off of because people can buy a game and hate it, and with it starting as a PS exclusive you cant refund games digitally if its been downloaded. All that matters though is we love it, and its loved enough to get a sequel! 😁👍
@@-pressxtostart- I get your point but the game has 15k reviews on Steam (for pc) and it is on "very positive rating". 15k reviews is an insane number that usually is 100x playerbase. The game is well loved imo
I wanted to do this section on the floater, and surf down, wow, what a concept, take the floater out at the top of the mountain, push x, and cruise down, those sections I just love to explore, climb up, surf down, unreal.
The most enjoyable moment of the game, because you know that after the previous tremendous odyssey this last section is a visual and auditory gift and invites you to relax and enjoy the game

Thats part of why i uploaded these in the first place, the games story really had me thinking and these moments in the game were awe inspiring, i post a recording and immediately a ton of us started sharing our love for the game and sharing the same experiences playing. It was so cool i just decided to keep the discussion going 😊 Ive loved reading everything you have all had to say, thank you for your message too! I love to see so much love for kojima and so many of us are long time fans 👍
Loved this part of the game. Such a beautiful, stunning game with an amazing soundtrack that I often listen too. Weird story 😂 but didnt care, really enjoyed that game
@Astristul Yeah definitely and there is a lot of them, but i often enjoyed putting the music on in the bedroom and reading before heading back out. That made it much more manageable and engaging
The game is so well designed that everything preceding this mission is training to get you used to the game's menus and systems. Slowly you start with very short missions that focus on one mechanic of the gameplay , then slightly longer ones where 2 mechanics must be combined to complete the mission , then there is this, the first mission where using everything at your disposal is essential to finishing the mission - the route must be planned, the gear you take must purposefully be chosen as well as efficiently used and not wasted , hazards in the environment must be avoided or traversed , and enemy entities in the environment must either be confronted or stealth must be used to pass them , all of this occurring while encountering and sometimes using devices and tools purposefully left by other players to make your journey easier or as motivation to tell you "you can do this" all the while having the option to drop tools that will make this journey easier for other players leaving your own mark on the world for other players to encounter. It really makes the world feel real and alive- you encounter the remnants of other players journeys . Once the end of the mission is in sight and you have passed all of the challenging parts they wind you down with this. This is the very moment that players realize what Death Stranding is about and most players become hooked. Its not just a walking or delivery simulator, it is a shared journey across a destroyed united states to put a shattered country back together again. Death Stranding is one of the best games ever made. Kojima is getting better with age.
You can really tell that this game totally connected with you. Kojimas vision is fully realised in your hands! Im glad you got to understand this and fall in love with this game 👍 its really unlike anything else
Death Stranding is the most beautiful piece of media I have experienced, this is not a game in a traditional sense , it hardly follows any video game norms and 'rules', I had never played/experienced anything like this before. It took me a lot of time to finish this game , around 2 years cause at times it felt uncomfortable, uneasy, sometimes terrifying to play but at the same time it gave the most satisying , relaxing feel in a game. It is truly one of a kind and definitely requires patience to appreciate. DS2 is most probably going to be better than DS1 and definitely the most excited I have been for a game release but I dont know if it will top the experience playing DS1 just because it was so new and unique at that time. I hope more people give this game a chance and experience this work of art that Mr. Kojima has created in an age where almost every high budget game is just a rehash of existing mechanics and ideas. Keep on keeping on!
Thats exactly how i feel, we need innovation in the industry or everything ends up as live service cosmetic driven battleroyale garbage, no offence to multiplayers 😉
This game landed at the exact right time in my life. Perfect game for the headspace I was in. Timing is everything for me. Same with the film trainspotting. Same with the Radiohead ok computer album. Same with silent hills 2. Italia 90. Benn vs Eubank 1. Prey (arkane). American pie 1. Home alone. Ghostbusters. The list goes on and on.
Everyone stuck in isolation because their cars broke down, so our new hero travels around replacing car batteries and changing tires in the hope of one day reconnecting the roads of america with drivers 👍
Hideo connect some moments in all of his games. When i play Metal gear solid 3 snake eater, 17 years ago and kill the old snaper man, after i start to climb up very long time, its take maybe 2-3 minutes and there play music during i climb. When i eat snakes he said ahhh discusting like here in death stranding when you eat criptobiots Sam said the same thing: ahhh discusting. Hideo have geniously method of conversation with us by like this moment of games, when you do something and remember how you did this 17 years ago in mgs3 snake eater. Hideo did nostalgia connect
You sound like a true fan if you noticed all that stuff, i think thats why alot of us love his games, or atleast 1 reason why, because he tries to make great games for his fans, he knows we love all those connections and will play over and over to discover everything hes hidden for us to find 😊 the optional codec calls are so fun, especially in snake eater, paramedic and zero are so funny

We need you all
While finding our own cover
We cover it all
I find my own completeness
The darkness and the weakness
The light, the fight, the quietness

This bit was probably one of my favorite parts of the game, the previous section was terrifying to pass through
It really was, and it was also the longest journey we go on up to that point making even more intense !
I remember dying to that BT section, waking up with a massive crater in the ground, and thinking I've fucked everything up. But seeing port knot city and realizing that despite everything, it's all going to be okay was a feeling that games had never given me before.
A moment in gaming that stays with you forever ❤
🥺 what a wonderful way to put it
What a philosophical but simple word. MGS, which is active as a spy in a complex mechanics, was one of the gears of the nation,
I felt that this game was a personal life because the government was broken.
This one single moment sold the rest of the game for me. What a scene!
I think alot of us share your same feeling. I remember feeling stunned by the sight, of which i was already amazed by up to this point. Its really a special game
one of the best games i've ever played. kojima is a genius.
Always trying to push the medium forwards, and we love him for it
The environment and story is stellar, but the EXTREMELY repetetive gameplay kinda ruined it for me. To the point I couldn't even finish the game. I'm considering trying again, but holy crap those missions are boring as hell.
Im sorry to hear that 😣 its not an overly long game so if you do give it another try, you might be close to the end already, i only really experienced a feeling of repetition during my platinum journey which ended up taking 150 hours 🙄 that required alot of back and forth that didnt really contribute to a good time, getting 5 star on each porter was a bit much
@@-pressxtostart- You sir, are a psychopath :p
I am indeed 😈
These are the moments that make a videogame unforgetable.
So many incredible memories of incredible games
As soon as i finished the game, i got depressed thinking the journey had ended. Now im login in just to create new paths for people.
It really was sad when it was over, i felt the phantom pain all over again 😥
I remember playing for the first time this part of the game. I didn’t like the game at first and was about to give up, but then, after all that extremely painful BT part, going out of the scariest point of the game so far, just standing there, looking at Port knot with this song…
I think I just stood there listening to the music and admiring the scenery.
In that very precise moment I knew this would’ve become my favourite game of all time
Im glad you ended up pushing through and loving it ! 👍
The relief of a normal walk without BTs... The music is such a strong reassurance.
And a safe haven in the distance in constant view
I have completed the game and still shiver at the sound of my odradek triggering that BT encounter animation. every single f'ing time. What a game! Now I keep wandering places in search of lost cargo and keep doing my daily deliveries until I reach that Porter grade 500
Keep on, keeping on
👍👍👍👍👍
Death Stranding really is one of its kind.. I thought it would be boring. I mean, how exciting can delivering cargoes be? Then I started the game, I fell in love with the slow walks accompanied with such beautiful music. Truly exceptional.
It's always important to kill the childish idea of something being boring unless it's nonstop action and pewpew. THAT is boring.
There is definitely a fine balance, you dont want a game to be aimless, but you also dont need to make sure a player is constantly engaged and stimulated. I think lots of gamers are capable of being let free to enjoy a game on their own terms, aslong as theres enough tools and systems to have fun with 👍😁
of the best games I have ever played despite the negative reviews from those who have failed to appreciate this game.
In a crowded landscape of action games, Hideo just wanted players to feel something.

I think i rebuild like 20 or more highways, love to help everyone.
@Aiwe bro you probably helped. I loved seeing everyone's involvement with making the journey's easier. Thinking how can I make it and then you see someone's marker.

Finally seeing the city after a grueling fight with BT's and the climb was aw inspiring and then this music played putting it over the top.
It really was, i remember being terrified about trying to get up that hill, i hadnt had much encounters with BTs up until that point, i got to the windfarm without much trouble
People disliking this game: "When can I shoot something?? WHEN"
I wish I had stopped for longer when this scene played during my playthrough...
There will be many more moments in DS2 like this you can take more time to enjoy, im sure of it! 😊
Thank you, Hideo-san, for everything!

I'm never forgive myself for watching a playthrough of this game before playing it myself blindly
I often forget how beautiful this game is.
I would love to be able to be there
He is such a talented man and so are the team -- he had his vision and really manifested it. You are looking at the result of true passion, emotions, deep feelings and thoughts, his dreams while awake and while he slept. That urge to grasp hold of a beautiful song right upon waking -- this is the chase.
😢 beautiful
The sense of wonder was so present in this game, at every turn.
I fucked thjs section up by biking down the mountain and skipping half the song
I loved Low Roar and their songs for Death Stranding, but this was my favourite one of the whole soundtrack!!
Yeah i think its mine too 👍
What an amazing soundtrack huh?
What a beautiful game!
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Playing with no Hud on or anything is easily the best and hardest way to play DS.
@@-pressxtostart-so sad the directors cut didn't came to ps4 man, I'm trying to platinum this game anyways, loved it!
Wish I could play this game for the first time again
Me too, it was a feeling i hadnt felt before, a feeling of isolation and yet complete bliss. It was the closest ive felt to escaping the real world, and forgetting im just playing a game. It made me feel totally zen

when you think about it, we played legendary games on ps4.
Yeah we definitely did, some of my favourite games ever ended up in that generation. Nioh and Nier, Monster Hunter World and Red Dead 2. Man even MGSV was all i played for so long back when i was playing xbox..
@@-pressxtostart- god of war, horizon, ds, rdr2, spider man, tlou, rdr2, the witcher 3 and goes on... what a generation !
When you look at this video game, you will be reminded by hideo kojima fucking that nature is simply a beautiful thing. That's the feeling when playing Death Stranding. thanks hideo, awesome!
Kojima always knocks it out the park, even when he doesnt quite get it right. I know i still love MGS4 and MGSV, even if they arent as perfect as we could wish for, they are still amazing even for what they are
Death Stranding has to be the most unique game ever created.
Ive always said its the NieR games, especially Automata, but i can also agree about Death Stranding, its really a special game 👍
I'm so glad my bike's battery went out before the BT section, otherwise i'd miss this masterpiece 😂
Man still love this song.
Melhor jogo da história Death Stranding superou o Red Dead Redemption 2.
I love red dead , its incredible! I enjoy wandering the land with no aim, just absorbing myself into 1890s america
They better keep this and all of Low Roar’s music for Part 2 next year.
I hope so, im sure there will be a tribute at the very least. DS would be so different without them
Will always remember this game and it's beauty.
Was really moving all throughout.
"BB ill always be with you"
I played this game when I had a major mental breakdown, to a point I had trouble breathing.
Im glad you found peace in this game
I think alot of people did concidering most of us played this through 'the big cough'. I know it brought me alot of comfort and peace, i hope the sequel can bring similar experience that few games offer
I am trying to get emotional but it's too funny that he has like 10 crates strapped to his back
Keep on Keeping on
I adore this game. Even when playing the endgame now I get nostalgic for those first simple missions of just trekking across a hillside
Me too! Going to replay it again later on this year ☺️
You get past the mountainous BT area, who you are still learning to deal with.
Sorry it took me a long time to reply, ive had a new job and its been a bit of a revamp of my lifestyle 😊👍
can’t wait for the next one. I hope it has moments like these too
Im sure it will be the next evolution like with each Kojima game before it, all his games really push to be even better than the last 😁
@@-pressxtostart- Kojima never repeats himself with sequels Metal Gear is a great example
This was when I was finally sold on the game. Great moment!
i remember playing it and this song suddenly came in, it was the most magical moment so far on my playthrough
probably the greatest moment in gaming history, i wonder even if kojima himself can top this
Hes getting ready for the next explosion
An explosion that will blow our minds 🖐
It's sad not too many people enjoyed this game
It would have been great if more did, but i think it was made more for the people who would enjoy it, rather than trying to appeal to everyone, its good to take risks with games, it pushes the industry forward and creates new exciting ideas
@@-pressxtostart- I agree
You're out of your mind. Reddit thread is not what people think about this game. It's already a classic
Im gonna assume what they probably meant "its sad not more people enjoyed this game"
Sales arent really much to go off of because people can buy a game and hate it, and with it starting as a PS exclusive you cant refund games digitally if its been downloaded. All that matters though is we love it, and its loved enough to get a sequel! 😁👍
@@-pressxtostart- I get your point but the game has 15k reviews on Steam (for pc) and it is on "very positive rating".

I think I could play a game that just involves exploring all those mountains, no fighting. Just exploring and music. So beautiful.
I wanted to do this section on the floater, and surf down, wow, what a concept, take the floater out at the top of the mountain, push x, and cruise down, those sections I just love to explore, climb up, surf down, unreal.
"Kick, push, kick, push, coast
So come and skate with me
Just a rebel looking for a place to be"
The most enjoyable moment of the game, because you know that after the previous tremendous odyssey this last section is a visual and auditory gift and invites you to relax and enjoy the game

@Astristul Yeah definitely and there is a lot of them, but i often enjoyed putting the music on in the bedroom and reading before heading back out. That made it much more manageable and engaging
@@Astristul ah, I didnt read them all. There were so many. Looking forward to the sequel

Very beautiful, it was the perfect escape ❗
truly badass
I agree! 🤟
An absolute masterpiece, best game ever made and ave been gaming 30 year since the NES days.
I love having the stabilizer lvl 3 and can just float down this entire section
That would be epic!
whatever is said about this game, for me playing it was a unique experience
Thats exactly how i feel, we need innovation in the industry or everything ends up as live service cosmetic driven battleroyale garbage, no offence to multiplayers 😉

This game landed at the exact right time in my life. Perfect game for the headspace I was in. Timing is everything for me. Same with the film trainspotting. Same with the Radiohead ok computer album. Same with silent hills 2. Italia 90. Benn vs Eubank 1. Prey (arkane). American pie 1. Home alone. Ghostbusters. The list goes on and on.
Incredible taste! 🫵 it was perfect timing for me too
