Just starting the video! But im dreading working in a spa LOL im on tiktok now creating content so i can build a client list for next year when i graduate but the rates at salons are NOT it. Everyone keeps making it seem like you have no choice but to work at one but i dont think i agree.
@@DestinysFashion101 hi Destiny! Thanks for sharing :) I don’t think you should work at a spa if you’re already dreading the video haha! I had some classmates who went straight into their own business or you could start your own mobile massage business with Zeal or Soothe. Reach out to as many ppl as you can and start marketing asap. The spa I work at pays really well but I think it’s because it’s a luxury spa. I would not recommend starting at a Massage Envy or Hand & Stone. Hope this helps and I hope you find a job you love!
I'm at a Spa as a Stretcher and since I passed my MBLEx I'm transitioning. Still will take clients on the side though because I also teach fitness classes.
jackie, thank you, thank you, thank you for these videos! you have given me the courage to finally go to massage school. thank you for giving us a look into this career, it is extremely helpful.
Hi Jackie, I was looking for videos on what its like to be a LMT and your video came up. I've been a Personal Trainer for over 10 years but now I'm adding LMT to my name because I officially passed my MBLEX last week. Your videos have been very inspiring and I will keep watching. Thanks always for your insight!
I have a job lined up at a spa for when I graduate - 6 hour shifts (6 x 50mins or equivalent hands-on time for longer sessions), FT is 21 hands-on hours a week, with full benefitsso that's amazing. I have friends that work there and they love it, but I am concerned about the back-to-back massages at 6 per shift. Do you think this is a typical setup for a high-end spa, and is this considered good?
Try to find a program at a community college. My program in total is less than $1,000 and they have a 100% pass rate on the MBLEx. You don’t need to spend a ton on your schooling
@@Krysb107 Yup my program is at a community college and is only 2900. I really recommend looking into community college first before a trade/ technical college.
Who’s thinking of working at a spa?

I would say that’s pretty normal at a high end spa! Usually the spa manager can adjust your hours too if 6 clients is too much :)
Super excellent madition and spa treatment
Thanks!
Interested about in the cruise
Me too! Trying to find a cruise massage therapist to interview for my upcoming massage therapy podcast!
What is a reasonable amount of money to spend on a course/MT program?
I would say $10k to $16k!
For me (Canada) all the courses private and public go for $35,000 for full time year and a half long study
