Boy Scout Leaders - This is a great kit for your Scouts. I started linking this to my Scout families almost 5 years ago, and now the Troop just buys a dozen of them every year or two so we have them in-stock in the unit and the scouts can earn/buy them with their fundraising dollars. They keep one of the green cups in their kit, and the 2nd cup is in their patrol box with their name on it.
Their personal kit has 1 cup, butane burner, mini bic-lighter, tiny scrub sponge, 1/4 of handkerchief, a folding spork, and 1 small butane fuel canister. All of that will fit in there and the lid will JUST fit on top. Build one for yourself and try it out. EXCELLENT kit for 1 youth or adult.

That Stanley Adventure Cook cup is King in the woods for cooking. The green cups make a good oatmeal bowl and coffee cup for breakfast and a good wine cup for the evening campfire. Great review! Thanks!

I bought my Stanley Adventure cook cup several years ago after purchasing the Ozark Trails SS cup several months earlier. I thought I was pretty clever for discovering that the cook cup fit in the SS drinking cup. Then I got s smart phone, got on You Tube (I'm a late bloomer, okay?) and found that everyone else was doing it.
Last year, sometime, I bought a three pice stuff sack set from Walmart and found that the red one was the perfect size for the cookset/cup combination. Just watched this video and...well, let's just say I'm glad to know that I'm on the right track!
Thank you so much for your very informative and nicely done videos!
Hope 2019 is a great for you!

I love that you find all kinds of good gear at great prices by shopping at WalMart. I know there's a lot of WM haters, but they have a lot of great stuff for those of us who can't afford the premium brands. Another fine video Dave, thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for the kind words, Bill! You know how it is...with mortgage payments, property taxes, truck payments, ex-wives to feed and kids getting ready to start college, it's very tough to spend a lot of money on gear. So, we make due with what we can afford! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, my friend! Great to hear from you! -Dave

Yet another mod to the Stanley Adventure Cook Set! This cook set is truly a hit and I LOVE mine too! I take advantage of my green cups to either have oatmeal & coffee for myself, or share coffee with my wife when she backpacks with me. They are insulated pretty well & on cold mornings, I certainly appreciate that! Very good review of the Set!

The bail is a great idea unless you want to drink directly out of it. If you bend the wires on the handles of the cup a little closer together at the base they will stay in place by themselves, at least they do with the gsi. Thanks for sharing

Great video only thing I think is you should offset the holes for your hanger a little more for a easy pour and if you wrap a bandana around the bottom of the pot the cup holds on to the bottom great and you have something handy to clean with

Great point about the bail set-up allowing you to still use the lid. Not to mention it is basically a free mod since most folks watching can easily access a cordless drill and a wire hanger.

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

There were some different bail mods I tried that didn't allow access to the lid, which I did not like, so I had to figure something out. Yes, best part is basically being a free mod! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! Nice to hear from you! -Dave

Great idea to bag the set inside the water bottle pouch as I have been having a hard time getting the cup out of the bottom. Even better idea would be for Condor (or other) to make the pouch just a little larger for those many people who don't use it just for a water bottle.

Just stumbled upon your video looking to make modifications to the Stanley Adventure Cook Set I just purchased, as well as the Walmart Stainless cup, the key ring idea and bail wire is genius, and the stuff sack and Condor H20 Pouch make it easy to keep it away from all your other gear. Will be purchasing sacks and pouch today, to complete my similar kit, I opted for the kampMATE WoodFlame stove, as it has a larger opening for feeding fuel and slightly lower cost with same basic design, but otherwise, great stuff man, keep it up!

My cook/cup set up is basically the same, I'm ex forces uk. We have the same system, but a different shape, not round but kidney shape, so its the same, just different shape. It is so good to see the same, but small differences that make them the same. I shows we are all on the right track, and the system works....If its the same world over its got to be good. I love the mods you have made, am kicking myself for not seeing it, will implement it now.

Nice one Dave. I too have the Stanley but as of yet have not made any mods other than changing out the tab. I'm a longtime user of key rings for things other than keys! Lol
One is to attach it to the belt loop of a sheath and with some cordage make my own dangler. Works decent.
I like your bail mod. Good call.
I've been putting together a Ti kit for more than a few years now and almost have it figured out. 🤓
Always a joy to see you my friend. Keep them coming.

Thank you for stopping by, Craig! Key rings are excellent for many uses! Funny you should mention the dangler system with the key ring. Maxpedition makes a velcro "keeper" that hooks to your belt with a key holder on it. You can then attach a key ring to that to make and excellent dangler system. I learned it from snaponjohn100. Keep me posted on how your kit is coming along and I look forward to talking with you again soon, my friend! Even better, a new video would be nice..haha! Take care, brother! -Dave

Excellent Dave! I'd like to get a Stanley Cook cup like that. A lot of people use them and like them!
I usually go with a military canteen cup over a fire but it doesn't have a cover. I know HeavyCover.com makes them, so I might go that route. Sometimes I use a small tea kettle, but it doesn't pack well with my other gear. So I haven't found the "perfect" cook/brew kit yet, but I sure like yours!

    Dave,
    Thanks for another great video.
I always look forward to hearing what you have to say in each video.
I also have the Stanley Cook Cup from Walmart, and it is a very useful cooking pot for small jobs like boiling water for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate!
Like other commenters, I also agree that there are some good gear finds at Walmart, that are easy on the wallet.
I have also noticed that there are some good lightweight cooking cups sold on Gear Best under the Keith brand.

That Adventure Cup is part of my cook system. And it was smart to create that bail that attaches from the outside so you can use that lid. Wondering why people do not use that lid with all of the vents to pour bush craft (cowboy) coffee as it stops all the grounds? And those cups are really nice and there is an unofficial club called the green cup club for all who use them. As you know, they are very heavy duty. I regard them as more than useful. Another great video from you brother. Thanks!

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
