Replaced a starter on a 2012 fiat 500 after the starter seemed to not be engaging and after replacement I had the same no start issue* no codes....after checking & replacing everything else like the Multi air filter as well..same issue thought maybe it was a ground issue I added a new ground to the starter attaching bolt..again ..no start☆...after resigning to the idea I may have a bad NEW starter..upon disassembly I found the culprit☆ The two ring washers under the hot terminal were very corroded inside themselves yet on the outside looked fine!..after cleaning off the corrosion and reconnecting the terminal it started like new...which made me realize that the old starter was fine all along **... strangely enough..my motorcycle was having problems starting as well and turned out to be exact same thing!!

This is a mk 4 polo. I understand the confusion, it has a similar face to the mk5 golf.
I don't know why not to remove the battery and its holder for much Better access. It' s not that much of an effort 😊 cheers
