- Cabot Guns. They make some crazy stuff, such as 1911's made out of meteorite. The Nero is a 1911 I've been extremely excited about. I would describe as a shooter's gun. It's less about the crazy materials and finishes and more about what would the shooter actually want in a gun that he/she could run thousands of rounds through. And arguably the most exciting part is that we get to add a new company into the high end functional 1911 space. Welcome to the club Cabot.

I find him honest, self aware and his forthright snobbery actually isn't douchey at all, in fact I appreciate and understand it... sometimes with certain things you want the best. I'm like this when it comes to electronics, phones, TV and computers.. I want the newest and most expensive model yet I won't buy myself any new clothes.

Stroke - Commanders have a shorter stroke than govt models.
By the looks of it they just shortened the slide length at the front.

You failed to mention Ed Brown as a viable competitor like NH/Wilson, i know they aren’t new and trendy, they don’t really advertise or market themselves much, but having owned EB and NH, I would view them as pretty darn close.

I have to agree with you. They are very few players in this category. I have several 2011s and two atlas but I have a single true 1911 the nighthawk GRP recon in 45 caliber. It’s an amazing, heirloom quality gun with a pic rail and IOS. It’s nice to see Cabot enter into this market.

Cabot Rabbit Hole- Cabots entry level 1911
I agree with your Les Baer opinion. Maybe because they're built assembly line style, where each group of parts is fitted by a different assembler, and sent down the line. I still think bang/buck is good with Les Baer, just not crafted by ONE gunsmith.
I disagree with the theology of a single gunsmith a single gun. I would prefer experts at what they do best. A craftsman who concentrates his studies on a single portion of the gun ie: trigger is probably a better craftsman on triggers than someone who's concerns are the whole gun. Like Doctors. I would prefer a brain surgeon vs a general practitioner to execute brain surgery.
If you actually look there are a lot more high end 1911 makes there’s more of them than almost any other industry.
You are correct; Single Stack, 5" 9mm 1911 is the chit.
Although I have a couple STI and other crap, nothing is more enjoyable than shooting steel at speed with one of my 5" SS, 9mm's.

They're going to have to start making 2011's...In designs to cater to those closet commandos, John Wick wannabees...or just guys that shoot and aren't buying "save Queens". Or guns for Brad Pitt. I heard he bought some Cabot 1911's. The artsy type we wouldn't touch but respect...the work that went into the builds. That's where Alchemy comes in....associated with Cabot...owned by Cabot...but makes guns guys like us actually would buy. Like your Porsche/Singer analogy. I'm just not into boutique guns like the artsy Cabot 1911s...
Like to have a defensive gun--2011 with red dot optic and rail. And old school 1911's. Or a 2011 built like an old 1911...wi/o the less flashy than Cabot 1911's from Ed Brown, Nighthawk, Wilson Combat...Les Baier...
Do like the Beretta 92's...Ernest Langdon 92G....functional. Guns meant to be shot...and admired...like the Beretta 92X Perf...need to add a red dot to that...

But is this gun as good as a P210 that's made in Germany? The P210 was made for 9mm instead of adapted, it's all steel, and it rides in reverse rails like a CZ-75 giving you an even lower bore axis.
I get this will outshoot the American P210 which is a production line gun, but one of the newer Mastershop beauties with the 1911 style slide release and safety?
Worth a test if you can find one.

I'd like to see Atlas join this group. Their too "race gun" focused.
Their "return to zero" tech (I've never shot one) sounds like it would work great in a "combat focused" gun..they just need to start offering their Titan's and Nemesis guns w/o the hyper flared mag wells but keeping the weight of the mag wells. I'm sure some one makes them...or that they could CNC masg wells to fit the bill.... And do what Cabot has done which is to not only make these exotic boutique guns for celebs and multimillionaires who buy the showy Cabot guns for show...who don't really shoot. Just got their licence so they could buy the space rock guns...just to say "I spent 4M on 2 guns made from meteor rock!!.. "...how does it shoot?"--says party goer. "...I dunno..." says jowner. j
Soon enough Atlas Gunwerks is going to realize they can't survive only catering to the 3-Gun crowd. Just as Mercedes Benz and Porsche knew they had to make "affordable" models. To get a larger market buying their product. Cabot with their "affordable" 4-6k guns vs their $100k-5M guns.
A thought...does any one trick out Atlas guns?? :) Tick out a tricked out gun??? Swapping out that hyper flared out mag well..then CC or OWB a Nemesis??
Agree, I'd love to see an Atlas that's geared more towards duty/all purpose 2011. I reviewed an Atlas maybe 4 months ago. I think even if they could make a "duty" 2011 in the 4000 price range it would do very well

I like cabot guns and they are the top of the line as far as price. But, i really dont see why this cost $2000 more than a wilson combat edc x9.

Great pistol. My Wilson has a rear U-notch site and for some reason I just couldn't get any accuracy with it (yes, I know it is not made for extreme accuracy). I switched it out for a square notch and now I am good to go. I compete with my carry gun so I need a sighting system that kinda walks the line between fast acquisition and the ability to get accurate shots off. Cabot is definitely on my list of future 1911 purchases.
