The Cabot Guns NERO $4,500 1911: The Most Biased Video on the Internet

  • Spoiler Alert: I work for Cabot Guns, and designed the NERO (and I use the term design loosely... I photoshopped my dream CABOT and begged the owners to build/sell it so I could have one).
You won't any negative stuff come out of my mouth about this $4500 unicorn because I'd basically be talking smack on myself and probably get fired. And yes I am getting paid by Cabot... but not to make this video I did it on my free time..... but all the rest of the time I am paid by Cabot/Alchemy...

I know Cabot makes amazing guns but as weird as this sounds I never really gave them much thought but that Nero caught my eye a little while back and it is absolutely AWESOME! You did a fabulous job designing it for today’s market. I also think you did a great job explaining the thought process behind the all neat things that make it special without going over the top, so great review.

@Trae UCity it’s not really an Apple to apple comparison as the Chambers gun is a double stack isn’t it? I would also add I don’t think Joe himself builds the working man gun it’s the guys working for him. So if it was a gun built by Joe himself then a Chambers but if it is a shop build and they were both single stacks I’d say it’s a coin flip for this Nero.

    Far to much.
100% stainless steel is not needed and nothing but an excuse to jack up the price.
Fit and finish, get rid of the hand safety and use a modern barrel design that is linkless and lugless.
    Captured guide rod
Update slide to be bushless WITHOUT a bull barrel
    For 9mm shrink the proportions.
Essentially take the Browning .380 Black Label 1911 and make it 9mm, 15rnd double stack would be fantastic to compete with p365, hellcat, and g43x.
I will GLADLY pay 2k+ for such a 1911 but nobody wants to seem to breath new life into the design. 2011 and A3 are already taken so not sure what you'd call it :P

When I build a 1911 my parts cost alone with already forged and cut slides and frames cost 1600 bucks. @@deank5649 Dean maybe you are in the wrong line of business, now that Herr Glock has left the curtain rod business there might be an opening for you to corner the high end curtain rod market with $1600 forged & cut curtain rods. You will excuse my sarcasm & lack of sympathy for your costs but the folks making high end 1911's are pricing themselves out of business. The 1911 is the best & most accurate handgun platform but it is not the only one & one of its biggest shortcomings is lack of magazine capacity vis a vis the price. Whilst you premium 1911 guys have been going in one direction the market for reasonably accurate & mechanically reliable guns with high capacity mags has exploded ( pun unintended ) . I for one will not contemplate buying any pistol with 7-9 rounds in a mag no matter how well its made.
