thomas' review is on point. Just came back from my first run in the Sketches Speed Alpha Tempo. I really had to work it to feel the energy return, and hyperbust pro is nowhere as energetic as zoomx, lightstrike pro, and powerrun pb. This shoe feels a lot like my old pair of Endorphin Pro, where the foam is pretty much dead.
🙌🏼 I had this EXACT same problem with the excess 2. It felt like a speed bump in the middle of my foot . I’m glad I’m not the only one. A little too engineered
Robbie had a curiously ominous comment there about Skechers as a running shoes brand. Are they gonna get canned? I’ll look forward to your review of the Ride 11. That’s the only other 2023 Skechers that I had high anticipation for.
Leave it to the engineers to overthink something and ruin a good thing..the razor 3 was the pinnacle of skechers evolution and pretty much all downhill since..the only thing the razor 3 needed was a little more cushioning and a good insole with some arch support..
Skechers, my fav for several years, seems to be taking a wrong turn this year. Heavier, harder, harsher ride. If the plate is the same as the Speed Freek, it's too rigid and detrimental to the shoe's performance. Does it even NEED a plate? The MaxRoad 4+ was a great shoe and had no plate (the addition of the plate in the 5 nerfed the MaxRoad). Perhaps this shoe with either the old H-Plate (no wings) or no plate at all might be a good successor to the MaxRoad, but as it looks, it wouldn't be anyone's choice as a racer at that pricepoint. And the MaxRoad-6 appears to have fallen off the cliff now that it's so much heavier. Other companies have caught up in the midsole game, and have surpassed in application. I can't envision buying a Skechers shoe this year with all the other better choices at the same pricepoint. Maybe 2024 they'll return to their pursuit of lightweight, cushioned yet responsive shoes; with some flexibility instead of rigid plates.
Almost none. Running Warehouse EU has a couple models and a few more can be had directly from Skechers. However none of their race day shoes are available.
skechers hits on a cool niche where they just copy from all the big running companies and come out with these cool frankenstein shoes. the upper looks like a Noosa and the midsole looks like a Saucony
Skechers have been super innovative. The first company to use supercritical foams, always trying to make great shoes and they work hard because they get no hype. They just don't distribute their shoes so people can't get them easily
They had a sleeper hit of sorts with Maxroad 5. It’s really unfortunate that they didn’t get more publicity for it. Looks like a pass on Speed Beast though.
I'd guess because they only have limited supply currently... Likely will come down in April when more units are available. Just a guess but based on what they have communicated previously, this is really odd.
Yeah supposedly that's all completely wrong... and Running Warehouse also has them on presale for $200. We asked Skechers like five times, they say $185 🤷♂️
i've seen comments in a lot of reviews where people didn't like that speed in earlier models yet they keep bringing it back. they should put lights at the back of th shoe while they're at it, let the designers have a blast
So from your comments, between the speed beast and new balance sc elite V3, although they have similarities like the drop and the stack high... there is no question...the sc elite is clearly the better one, even as a trainer right?.. Thanks for the nice review once again!
Just feel like sketchers should just abandon the performance line - I just can’t take sketchers seriously & I feel like they’ve tried so hard to get away from the grandad shoe stereotype to no avail. This is obviously my own opinion of sketchers in the UK.

I'll give this shoe a try. 900m easy pace heel strike, 100m fast pace forefoot strike, no midfoot strike, for an easy run

So much hype they upped the price to $250. It was $190 last week and 2 sizes available only and now they are $250 and still only 2 sizes available.

Haven't they said that the shoe is ment specifically for slower long runs? Also for heel strikers?
I'm frustrated because I wanted to know more about how the midsole cushion/ride and feel was. Got lost in the weeds on the abrupt rocker. :/

As a heavier runner , what running shoe would you recommend for racing? I’m 6’2 220lbs.

i've been wanting to try some skechers models but every model i want to try has speed overlays. it's a deal breaker and i'm sure it's not just me

I talk with a Skechers guys he told me that for men they’re supposed to go at 190$ and the 250 was a “mistake “
