    Well…
A Landy in its natural habitat ❤
Unlike so many people, putting in 500+ horsepower and park in front of a ice cream store… to impress little girls 😂

Great Defender 90, look forward to any future content with it.
Would love to own one myself one day, for now the Freelander 2 is serving me well.

The rear step already removed itself so you're spot on.

@@MattTester ha indeed. I bought a 2004 td5 90 2 years ago, in cairns blue. It's never left me down, just small niggly little things that I've managed to fix on my own (and I am no handy man)

I had a defender, it was a headache, sold it, regretted it a few weeks after, I miss her dearly, I didn’t realise those headaches gave me a hobby to do, now they are just expensive to buy

Nice 90, I've just bought a 2003 110 van. Not so many creatire conforts but I'm adding all kinds of things! Nice to see a survivor.
Something about a defender that puts a smile on your face hey..
Any further plans for her, how about a name? All vehicles need a name?

Thanks, yes it's great to find these survivors. The previous owner didn't drive it much but kept on top of servicing, I think it was dry stored too. I've driven it quite a lot this week and yes it really makes me smile. I do like to name my cars but I can't think of one for this Defender, the plate doesn't give me any ideas like it did with Geoff the Freelander or Bugsy the Discovery 2.
I have recorded an update video with the changes I've made, due to be uploaded shortly but I have a different video that I want to release first that isn't Land Rover related.

@MattTester that's really cool. Maybe something to do with the colour for a name?

Great looking Defender. While they may not be for everyone, they really are fantastic vehicles. I genuinely wouldn't swap ours (also an XS) for any other vehicle. It's nice (and fun) to drive on the road, and an absoloute unit off it. Going back to your question in the video re the sunroof, the XS has aircon fitted as standard so no sunroof. HTH.

Your Defender looks great, I've subbed so I can follow your adventures. I have really been enjoying the drive on the road, with a few differences compared to my Disco 1. For example I usually drive with the windows open in the Disco, but if I do the same in the Defender the wind blows through much more. I'm going to try some Climair deflectors like it's 1999.
Thanks for the tip on the sunroof too, that makes perfect sense.

September 2001 ('51 reg), the centre radio console was fitted - instead of the old school angled one and the 15p uprated Td5 engines were launched, replacing the 10p motors.

I Had One of These And Added Most Things Like,Remap,H Ratio Transfer Gears,Heater Upgraded Matrix ,Snokel,Tank Guard,Diff Guards,Steering Guard,Hydraulic Winch,Jackable Sills,Rear Quarter Protectors,New Doors,And a Full Respray !!!!!!!!!!Plus Lots More.
After Doing All That And Looking Back it Was Only Used Offroad For Fun And it Could of Done What it Did As Standard With Nothing added So i Would Leave it Well Alone.

Hi. Greetings from Paris ! Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I own too a defender 90 Td5 as a second car. Never been able to high rev it and up shift quickly like a Golf or a sport car. The gearbox doesn’t like it and blocks or grind the agressive up shift. Especially 1 to 2d, 2 to 3d. If I up shift slowly on low revs, everything is smooth. How in the video the up shift is so quick on high rpm ? Many thx for your feedbacks. Merci ! Julien

Hi Julien, I have only driven a few Td5 Defenders but I have the R380 gearbox in my Discovery and it's generally a smooth gearbox that will shift at any speed. It sounds like maybe your clutch isn't disengaging fully, either due to adjustment or a problem with either the master or slave cylinders. This would cause the problem you describe.
It's also possible that the synchros in the gearbox are worn on those gears, but it isn't possible to tell without first addressing possible clutch issues and it would take an expert to confirm. If you have a local Land Rover mechanic they should be able to help you, I hope you can get it sorted.

at about 160.000 miles the td5's tend to crack heads just something to keep an eye out for when it happens replace it with an AMC head if you can

It'll mostly be the 10P versions (Pre 2002) of the Td5 if I remember correctly
