0:35 great video! will the TDI 200/300 bolt on to the 6 speed g/box of the puma? I have a good tdi 200 but a bad 2.4 puma 1:23 Thats a nice conversion. Are you planning to install anything to protect the front mounted winch? 1:41 Also consider Bangin' Headlights from Australia. Like the Holley, they look original, but use a projector rather than a reflector. 1:51 Question: Does anyone make a Coil-Spring Chassis for the Series Land Rovers?!? 2:20 Dave, when will the Series 3 suspension be ready for sale? 3:11 What is the budget on a car like this, and how did you handle the swiss export / Import of the car? 4:06 Hi Dave. I'm looking at buying a 'tidy' 2004-06 Td5 XS 90 and I've got a few options in my price range, with difference chassis conditions. With the intention of booking whatever I buy in for a chassis treatment, if given the choice would you prefer to see a factory painted chassis with a little crust or one that theoretically looks tidier but has a coating on it? For the uncoated chassis, can your experience tell from a couple of pictures if it's suitable for the treatment or if it's too far gone? Trying my best not to buy a pup. Cheers. 4:45 hi. im base in South Africa ,currently doing the M57 E60 iron block conversion , want ask for the 6HP26 auto conversion ,does it require the transmission computer? or the this straight in to the engine ECU . 5:23 Do you 'prefer' M57 over a GM V8 for moat cases? 6:07 I've noticed in Project Christine, that you've got the tradtional bulkhead and dash. Are there some nice dash and interior upgrades available utilising the older style bulkhead with the manual air vents? Most of the top end builds seem to have the Puma bulkhead. Secondly, is a usable heater achievable with the traditional bulkhead? 7:45 I've always had a question on the defender rear seat posture which no one has been able to address. Now, you'll notice that the rear seat passengers aren't able to slide their feet under the driver or passenger seat as there's an obstruction bar that runs across the lower end of the 'B' pillar. Is it possible to cut off the the obstruction as to allow better leg room especially for the taller passengers? I've not seen anyone do this. 8:38 I'm sold on your M57 conversion, but after seeing the rebuilt 300 TDi, with some upgrades and the VNT turbo, i just wondered how the performance of this 300 TDi compares to the BMW M57. I'm looking to gain power, torque on windy, hilly roads and a smoother ride. BMW will probably tick all boxes but love the simplicity and reliability of our current 300 TDi 10:22 How often do you recommend to change the oil on the M57 & do you recommend using 5w40 A3/B4 spec oil instead of 5w30 C3 as there is no PDF filter Cheers 11:30 Is the hi lo diff lock linkage for 8hp only struggling with one for my 6hp ? Do you use the disco 2 cable shift ? 12:08 When will series 3 Bilstein stuff be available to order ? 12:21 Love these videos first off. second thing can this be done in a D2 in the states ? prefer an automatic but otherwise I do enjoy these 12:51 Question for Dave, whilst I appreciate that LR Defenders are your bread & butter so to speak, and whilst they are basically a "big boys meccano set" with seemingly endless business opportunities, But would you entertain Discovery 3/4 Engine conversions, especially as a sizeable %age of the Ford lion engine seem to fail, it is the biggest flaw in what is my opinion a remarkably versatile vehicle, say a Toyota Land cruiser 300, 3.3 V6 diesel (300BHP+ &700 NM standard spec), I realize they are not sold in this country for donors, is it something you'd consider ? 14:11 Some great content on this episode. I'm getting some great ideas ready for our refurb. Question ref the 3 stage chassis treatment: Would you still do this process on existing galvanized chassis's, or is this just recommended on unprotected mild steel chassis's? 15:15 Nice job. I've been running 110s in the desserts since the 80s. Couple of questions: What have you got in the rear diff? Did you put an ATB in the center diff? And are you running a cooler for the gearbox? Did you upgrade the fuel filter/separator? Lastly how much fuel can you carry ? Cheers Pat 17:15 Would you consider engine from a Volvo D5 to a Defender? And amazing builds you do, just keep up the perfect work 17:40 Dave i can't decide which defender 90 to get... If you had £25k max... What would you do?... TD5? TDCI? upgrade/update on an older one or max spend on newest possible? I'd be bringing it to you either way so any advice would be appreciated. Daily driver and rest day camping use.
It’s fair to say on the behalf of the community, we really appreciate all of your knowledge and time you give back, we’re very grateful you’re keeping Landys alive. Good man.
Thanks for answering my question, I've looked at a few and put a deposit on a low mileage Td5 90 that was the closest I could get to all factory paint underneath.
A question for next time if possible, for those of us who don’t yet have the pennies for a M57, what can you offer in terms of power upgrades on a 200tdi and how impactful will this feel and rough budget… Really struggling with inclines, especially if towing.
Hi Dave, I am interested in the Series shock absorbers though. I now buy Monroe for my projects but have been looking for better shocks for a long time. After all, I want the best for my projects and monroe is only mediocre.
