As a Thai myself, I eat Pad Thai at least once a week but I'm not sure what I eat is really authentic or not but as I saw the chef made it i never see them put garlic in there let alone shallot and carrot. There might be different recipes, some even has banana blossom as garnish, but none come close to what Rachael does, it may contain other kind of meat but the most popular one is shrimp.
Oh, and there is a menu that looks similar to Pad Thai we call it Pad Mi Khorat (Khorat-style stir-fried noodle)
So jealous you can eat Pad Thai every week!!! and I will try Pad Mi Khorat next time I go to Thailand!!!

As an American yes a lot of Americans love sweet products but I really don't like any sugar. I refuse to use any sugar for any dish I cook. If I want sugar I'll get candy and maybe once every year or two I'll buy a ice cream candy bar
You can add a little bit for better flavour when you cook Asian food if you want!

No Wok, Wrong Ingredients, and why do westerners always make soggy noodles?
Sadly that is the directions on packaging here in the States at least. In some dishes it says to drain the noodles and get most of the moisture out, but I haven't seen many that say that.
@@pathofthedragon You simply do not drain noodles, nor rice. I am not sure who was the insane person that invented these f''ked up recipes that say so? It is like when making a burger, you would put the meat in water after cooking.
I feel they treat noodle as spaghetti so they usually cook longer...

@@cherylliulol Italians make spaghetti 'al dente' which is not soggy but around the same texture as rice noodles, so I am not sure where they get those bad recipes..
I think there is two different types of PAD THAI, fish and chicken. I think i am allergic to shell fish so when i order it i get it with chicken. I've had it in Thailand, the local Thai restaurant in England, and even in the local supermarket as a ready meal just put it in the oven. I don't know what the flowers are about. I do think western chefs/cooks change recipes to make it more suited to westerners tastes. Then again some cooks are just weird.
Yes I just can't believe she added flowers... there is no relationship between pad thai and flowers...
My theory on the low sodium soy sauce is that the target audience is american boomers on blood pressure meds

I don’t know what is wrong with Rachel? I almost thought she was acting drunk and angry about something, and couldn’t get out of there fast enough! She used to be better but I haven’t seen her do any cooking in a long time. She has other businesses making cooking utensils and even makes her own brand of dog food. But anyways, your cooking is much better than hers and you are more enjoyable to watch!
