    Thank you for the video. Regarding midwives recruitment, it just became easier recently from last December when NMC changed the policy for all specialities because they need nurses in those areas. Initially, the NMC told me that I need to go to university before I can have my second registration as a midwife in the UK to top up my midwifery education and the years I spend will be decided by the University-this as been the usual practice if you are not trained in the UK.
    Thank God that things are getting better for International midwives to practice in the UK.
    I don't think that the ratio of midwives to labouring women of 1:1 is applied to all the Trus.

    Doctors are the ones allowed to perform instrumental deliveries even here though we learn about it in school. I find your UK experience very intriguing because most Midwives in africa are practicing with limited resources. Hey UK is definitely the place to be for career fulfilment. Imagine, we still use the pinnards foetal scope to monitor the FHR.😐

    I think when it’s comes to midwifery Ghana is really doing well. I can’t believe she never used all these obstetrics instruments in Nigeria. I have been practicing midwifery for less than a year in Ghana and I work with all these devices

    • @okoangel5208
      @okoangel5208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on where u are working in Nigeria. I'm sure you know hospitals in Nigeria are more than the ones in Ghana and this means several private hospitals in different levels of structural and equipment level. Some in big hospitals have sophisticated equipment.
      Showumi is in the same Trust with me. A lot of Nigeria and Ghanian s midwives are coming every month.
      Finally, with all you know, you can't pick a pin in UK without being trained on how they pick it in UK except if you enter a Trust that doesn't care about your welfare and protection.

    • @okoangel5208
      @okoangel5208 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nigeria do instrumental delivery both it's not a routine practice so it's possible, she haven't witness it. We do pelvic exam and avoid unnecessary risk if vaginal birth will not be possible or optimal. Doctors prefer to do section instead of risking something that won't add money to their pockets. Midwives avoid high risk and refer to avoid blame. More private hospitals in Nigeria and they have doctor's to take over in difficult labour instead of traumatizing women. Nigeria is even better than UK in having less traumatic SVD. I'm practicing in UK so I know

    I know everyone has to think of themselves and their families. But it's sad to see all Nurses and Doctors going overseas to the UK. Who will help our African people. There will be no experienced nurses and doctors, meaning more of our African people will die compared to when there was no UK offers. I wish God would fix Africa for us to keep our Nurses and Doctors, then Europeans would come to Africa instead for medical care.

      Sheila most of these countries can’t employ their nurses. No jobs for nurses. I’m a typical example. Nearly 2 years after school and I still had no job. Meanwhile the uk is short.

      @@dimples5396 you will be employed based on the part you followed in your registration. If u register and take both exam and get PIN as a nurse and midwife. U get ur job in either
