Apologies for another delayed upload due to a copyright claim. Doubly-annoying was the fact that the disputed material was footage of "Come On Eileen" from a 1982 appearance on Top Of The Pops which really had no place on this documentary as an illustration of what Craig & Charlie Reid witnessed at St Andrews back in 1980 - and I'm clearly not sharing this clip so that people can watch that performance but I can't remove it without removing the interviews broadcast over the music! I've challenged the claim which means I'm allowed to share this while that challenge is reviewed.
i remember seeing the proclaimers in munich in a smaller venue, and, being a lifelong dexys/rowland-fan, at the bar i was recognizing the violin player from a dexys-gig 10 years earlier ... we talked shortly about that. i didn't knew anything about this deeper connection, but of course it does make perfect sense.
Yes, Steve "Brennan" Shaw got involved with The Proclaimers after The Blue Ox Babes supported them on tour in 1988. As well as playing on "Sunshine on Leith" Steve went on to play Mandolin The Proclaimer's "King of The Road" E.P. a couple of years later!
If you click on the "CC"' 'Subtitles/Closed Captions' button you do get a rough approximation of what is said - although Dexys are variously referred to as "Dixies Midnight Runners", "Index's minute last" and "Dexters"!?! Also "Reed Charles and Aretha Franklin with his reign" should, of course, read" "Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin,...Otis Redding"!
