Captain those are a dandy heavy duty set of forks. I gave 500.00 for my set and they are kind of a light duty set. Bent the frame several times. I don't think you will bend any part of those. And I use my forks as much or more than my bucket just moving stuff around. And the pond, looks awesome man! Looks like, I think you mentioned, that you could add a little pipe on the overflow pipe and raise the water level up a little bit if you want to. Probably this summer when the dam has settled and dried out good. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Enjoyed it!

    Hello Mike .
the big advantage of this style of forking is that you can fold it up.
this makes it easier to maneuver through the forest with the forks on the tractor, fold them down and pick up something more.
drive backwards into the shed with the forks on the tractor and when you fold them up you need MUCH less space to still be able to close the roller door.
If I were you, I'd check to see if it's really necessary to fix the forks permanently .
you could also just drill a hole with a bolt through it or a chain with a tie on it . I certainly wouldn't negate the ability to fold the forks.
I don't know how this is arranged with you in the US, but here you are not allowed to drive on public roads without a load with unshielded forks.
That's why they came up with folding forks for forklift trucks at Toyota.
normally there is a bracket on the fork board where the fork is folded up, there is a pin through it and they can no longer unfold when you drive over the road.
thanks for the video Captain Kleeman.
    Sincerely, Hollandduck from the Netherlands

Hey Mike, Happy NY. Just FYI Harbor Freight has 5 packs of soap stones for $2 (60633)- I can see my marks on steel better w/those. I bought a cheap portable plastic toolbox that I keep my welding helmet, jacket, gloves, clamps etc. in. Helps keep them clean-ish and makes it easier to find all my welding stuff. Now that you have all of that "scrap" from the mast, maybe fab up a fork pocket w/ a 2" ATV receiver tube HF (65961) that just pins through a hole in 1 of the forks. Makes hooking up/moving trailers easy. Your QA fork setup came out good. Thanks for posting.

@@CaptainKleeman fork extensions are always something that seem to come in handy to load some awkward long pieces too. Drill a hole in a fork to attach a trailer ball for moving trailers around easier.
A small dumpster build that has fork pockets underneath make cleaning up around remote locations easier. Maybe even a dump feature on the dumpster, if youre looking for a few small easy DIY builds to go with the new forks.

Suggestion- keep those forks hinged as they are. I've had experience using both styles of forks on my tractor, mostly for brush to pile up for bonfires, and decided to "upgrade" to a fixed fork... thought I could stack higher on the pile. Reality was the opposite - wish I had those hinged forks back on my JD 2032 with a H130 loader. We have similar tractors, so you might use it a while before investing too much more time into a mod that you would/could regret. Good luck, love the videos... keep them coming!

Great job on the fork fabrication! Maybe re-purpose the hydraulic cylinder into a home made towable dump cart for behind the 755? You are always moving dirt and stone. Make it a 4-tire cart and then you can unhook from it, load it with the 755 and re-hook to take it where you want to go. Just a thought.

You’ll love having forks, especially when you have them rigged up so they don’t flop around. I use forks on my tractor more than I use the bucket. A couple of suggestions:
If you make spring loaded tabs on the forks, you can still take advantage of the adjustable slide feature (which is the purpose of that style) and still lock them when tilting.
The amount of hauling you do around the property, especially as the new rentals start being utilized, you might consider a longer bed, dump box? Perhaps the multi stage cylinder would be useful?

With C-Channel i am in love-hate 🤣. You can build awesome Things out of them, but in my Apprenticeship as an Industrial mechanic in Germany i had to file, saw, drill and chisel out a piece of C-Channel into some kind of fender for a small truck. This took approx. 2 weeks to finish. And all the tasks without powertools, only Box column Drill and a lathe were allowed. During the first months i have learned the basics of metal machining and had to create this truck during this process. Sometimes fun but sometimes also painful, have had some blisters on my hand during this time.

Not everyone is creative and not everyone is capable of fabrication. You appear to have both skills and it will take you far. Now, if the price of steel wasn’t so dang expensive, you could do a lot more of it! Nice work, keep the mind sharp and your tools sharper!

The cool thing about being new to fabrication is I didn't know what prices were before 😂😂😂

Great video. It's not overbuilt or underbuilt. You may possibly want to add a thicker playe under the quick attach pin holes so it doesn't wallow out. You probably won't use it enough to bother but just a thought

Golly Fella, Your welds in the grooves on top look like a pro. I find your rod control very effective. The next thing you need is a big ballast box on the back of the tractor. My extreme modification of a Bobcat 4-n-1 bucket still left me with a very heavy bucket requiring ballast and still very tippy if the lift is above the hood.
I bought two forks and a quick attach plate and welded brackets for the fork pivot rod.

Happy new year 🎉 Mike. Great find and job on the forks. Use the 2 stage ram for a log hauling project... use it on the 3 point to build a log lift and hauler that is closer the center of gravity on the tractor. ( I'm assuming yours has a rear aux hydraulic out for it) would come in handy for "lift" applications too!

Nice way to make yourself a set of forks. For that price you can't beat it, and you still have some leftover to do something else. Just need to secure the fork when lowering it forward. I know you have the wisdom and technology to do it. Happy New Year and God Bless you and your family.

Love it on your headache rack I would make it so you can tie stuff back to it like some hooks or something like that I'm gonna have to do that to mine so when I'm moving drums I can keep them from sliding off.

Those welds are looking better. My only advice would be to cut out most of the original fork back plate. Every pound your fork weighs is a pound less you can lift. I think it will be plenty strong enough with all the C channel you added. Paul

    • @CaptainKleeman
      @CaptainKleeman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Definitely going to cut out as much of that plate as possible. Thanks for watching!

Nice job on the forks. And that is a good idea for the cut outs and bracket to keep the forks on the frame and not pivoting. As soon as I saw that style fork I was hoping you were going to do something to make them solid or else I don’t think you would like them as much. Hopefully in a few weeks I will be doing a quick attach conversion to my tractor and implements.
