You are an awesome dad! There are great dads that support their child in track and field, but not many of them can say they can build equipment for their kids to use!
Our junior high school's art teacher was gathering results from an event when a wayward discus from another event was released about a half hour off target and struck him directly in his mouth. His recovery was long with multiple surgeries. The netting looks like a great option especially when accuracy has yet to meet all of the athletes.
SELL THESE!!!! That’d are actually far to beautiful to watch one get destroyed by my kids. Our 10$ frisbee is just fine. Incredibly precise and design once again! It truly is a thing of beauty.!!!
So cool, love the project. Now, when I think about it - there's plenty of hammer forging videos, but no videos of forging trowing hammer. Either olimpic style or classic highland games style would be awesome.
My grandpa was skilled wood carpentor now I'm metal. Different creatives and approaches are in my DNA . Everytime I doing shortcuts for long time required work or small technical work in my work room. Great work 👍👍👍 your
*WOW that is so AWESOME. Your son throws really well... I guess in a few years time we will be seeing him in a future Olympics. He will remember this moment forever, that his dad made him a discus just for him. So what sport is your daughter interested in.... something you could make for her... oh I know.... hammer throwing.*
@@torbjornahman *Goodness you and your wife are producing some future sportspeople... Well making a Javelin, might test you, due to it's length.... but I would love to see you try to make one. But one that she would know was hers & it would stand out from all the others. But maybe also make her a hollow football (to keep it light) on a wooden stand to be put up on her shelf in her bedroom too. Hello my friend, I am one of your followers from Algeria, and I have watched almost all of your videos, and allow me to express my admiration and appreciation for you and your beautiful and respected family, and my fascination with everything you do and make, especially what is related to iron and fire ... I wish you and your family a beautiful and happy holiday, and I ask God Almighty to bless you all... Thanks.
TIL - I had no idea how a discus was made. - Didn't know that I needed to to know this. - Watched the entire video to the very end, and was thoroughly fascinated. - Loved the fact that we got to see everyone throw it. Completely satisfying! Thank you for posting this!
Starting with an enormous ring, part of me thought to myself, "Ooooh, just imagine some chainmail at that size!" Far more trouble than it's worth, but an amusing dream to think of it stretched across or between some buildings.
A great pleasure, as always! I think this is the first time I have ever seen someone resaw plywood. Very nice result, and fun to watch the testing. Discus throwing looks even harder when you see it close-up.
Interesting project. There is a top from Malaysia/SE Asia called a Gasing, and a couple of other variations of spellings. It has a metal ring around the outside rim, and about the same size as the discus you made. Add a central axle and the rope they use to toss them. They spin for several minutes in bare dirt. I have been pondering making one for some time. Most are not as high tech as your discus.
This is my first ever TH-cam comment. Ever. Torbjörn, you are a craftsman of enviable skill. It has been a pleasure to live vicariously through your videos. Your farm, your greenhouse, your family, and especially your blacksmithing is a pleasure to watch. Truly, I hope to meet you some day and shake your calloused hand, sir.
No kidding: Just one hour before I had to check if I didnt miss any of your videos. Good to see you're still with us! Your videos are always a wholesome experience 👌😎
And suddenly you've got powerful young adults. It's been a delight to see the little ones go from the angle iron pussycat stage to competition discus throwing, and for them to have a dad that provides everything between. Good 'ealth, mate. John Warner, Australia
What can I say🤷♂️😀 You did it again😀 Your kids are lucky to have you, Torbjörn😊👍 And to the followers of Torbjörn, I want to tell you he's just as nice in real life as you see him on his videos😀👌
"Tem que comer muito feijão com arroz pra jogar esse disco" 🤣🤣🤣 You has to work hard to be as good as your son 🤣🤣🤣 Great job! I love so much your vídeos!
I have never seen a discus. To actually not only see one but, watch how one is made was rather fulfilling I knew you were going to demonstrate it being used. I figured some big, burly discus thrower. To see you and your kids instead....heartwarming! I always chuckle when observing your magic! Overall another great video!
Lot more interesting and complicated than I'd thought that would involve more wood and just a thin rim of metal on the edge. You might even say 'It Turned out well'
When knowledge, desire and skill are combined, the result is magnificent! This man does everything perfectly! And watering the flowers and making a souvenir! Bravo!,👏👏👏
Man, you really got the old brain trying to think back 40+ years, trying to remember what one of these was like as I was watching you start with the outer iron ring and to be quite honest, couldn't remember a thing. Very nicely done and very cool to see how one is made. So I guess as your kids grow older you just make bigger and bigger weights to bolt into the centre 👍
You truly are an extremely cool human being.
I agree
The coolest person and the coolest dad😀👌👌👌
You can't say it any better than that... I have nothing to add.
Have you seen his figure skating, yet?!
I would almost agree, but you're raising even cooler children!
Very different from the usual builds on TH-cam! I think it's the first time I have ever considered how a discus is constructed. Thanks 🤓
Thanks!
Kids are getting big, enjoy your time with them :)
Yeah the boy is really growing tall :)
I know, it's crazy!

A proud man and a proud father!
They grow up so fast!
That is really neat. Looking at your children made me realize how long I had been watching your videos.
This is such a cool build! I also love that you take the time to show each sticker as you put them up.
You should do a javelin next! 😂
It is so hypnotic watching a master craftsman like yourself create something so elegantly simple.
True artistry, displayed in full.
A really present for your golden team!!🎉
