    I’m glad I’m not the only floor layer who says we have a very tough job been saying it for 25 years now I’m aching every morning before I start. I’m loving your channel lots of slightly different ways over here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    So i've been installing flooring for 12 years now, and been installing carpet with just a knee kicker since the beginning, never had any problems, but...i recently decided to invest in a power stretcher pretty much because of your videos, i gotta say, i wish i bought one years ago, i still use a knee kicker for smaller areas, but for the larger rooms, the power stretcher is just such a better tool. I'm sure i don't need to explain the reasons why, as you've been using one for years, but yeah anyway. Great vids, keep up the good work, i'm always learning new things from the channel and your years of service.

    I’ve noticed on your other videos on floating floors you use a tapping block with a handle, like on a trowel. That might be more comfortable and less chance of rolling a wrist. I’ve never installed carpet so I don’t know? Just a thought.

  • @josegovea1178
    @josegovea1178 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've only been doing carpet for maybe 2 years now. I'm on my own now. But back when I was a helper, I would go with different installers. And each would use a different tool. One would use a stair tool, one would use a spreader, and one would use a hatchet. I liked using a hatchet. But your wrists take a beating for sure. Well at least the way we used it

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys

      Jg Emperor31 Well that’s definitely a fact that everybody does stuff different but since you’re just starting out I would definitely recommend doing what is the easiest on your body regardless if it takes longer or what, good luck with your career I hope it treats you well

    Always use one,helps for sure,an also we hardly ever use the ft.on end of stretcher, I use a 4×4 board,have diff sizes, nice to have a long one to bridge arch ways..an saves walls from pushing thru..u know your across studs..I will staple carpet scraps on board to go against baseboards..

      In Fupa We Trust It is actually really good on thinner builder grade carpet but on thick carpet I did not have much success with it

    One of my bosses recently gave me one in the past year. I tried it out but it has not sold me since. I like to rub my tack strip down once installed so I hear the pins click. Doing soni would have to carry around a stair tool also to do the same job. I still have it, just in the back of my cars trunk. I'm curious to know how well it works on a Berber carpet or even with 1/4 round.

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matty Lee85 That will be a good one to see how it works and quarter round, I’m even kind of curious how it’s gonna work a nice thick carpet, not so sure about that will have to see

      I’ll second that opinion on the e-z tuck! used to always use a spreader for locking on and tucking but my wrists would get sore. Plus it’s faster

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ReinSman100 I haven’t use the kicker aggressively in years because I know it’s hard on your body I only use it in small closets and Hallways, and when I do I don’t beat myself up with it LOL but thank you for the concern and for watching
