Thanks Barry for the thumbs up . I'm a 62 year old that is back two a man back to the 80s . I've seen Bowie so many times that I gave him my record collection. He gave me a bag of 10 and 20 pound notes for a clince in Sierra Leone.
I have a couple of friends who ended up back stage at one of his shows, guests of the opening act. He came in and chatted with them for a long while, just casually, about whatever came up. They were amazed at what a friendly person he was, and I'm sure it was one of the highlights of their musical life together.
@@barrystockdoesnotexist i lived in many countries and to receive a call from a friend to say that DAVID BOWIE was coming to THE GLASGOW BARROWLANDS . I flew to Glasgow from Amsterdam . I was told before hand to go to the backdoor . I knocked on the door and this massive man was looking down at me . I said hallo I'm RIKKI I would like to leave this samsinight bag for David . He told me his name was Bob and that he would have to look in the bag . He opened it and at the top was a newspaper saying I'm not Bob Geldof , I'm Rikki from Glasgow but I have to do something . Under the paper was my whole record collection. I shook hands with this man and said I don't have a ticket so I'll go for a drink . He took my left shoulder and said you are on the guest list .
Hallo Barry still there . So I was walked into THE GLASGOW BARROWLANDS and he said I have to take a few things from you , go a head . I was wearing my CARNEGIE tartan kilt . So he took the knife that was in my sock and the large pin that at the bottom . He pointed me to the door that i was to go to when the concert ends . I go in and the lights go down . After an hour DAVID took that mike and said Well Glasgow this is for one of your own . Rikki is trying to build a clinic in Sierra Leone and this song is for you . Just at that moment a floodlight was on me . I jumped onto the large speaker and danced to THE LAST THING YOU SHOULD DO . The song over and people were asking me if i would like a drink , I declined. The concert ended and I strolled to the door I knocked on the door . Bob was there with a big grin , he asked who I like a beer . I couldn't speak and he handed me a BUD and said David will speak with you . I waited and sipped my beer and wanted to wake up . The door opened and Bob motioned me in . To my left there where the band was standing some sitting and there was food and drink. I turned to my left and THE THIN WHITE DUKE was stand at a long table with a white dressing gown . I walked towards him with my hand outstretched saying you are one hard man to meet . He touched my African Shirt that I was wearing and said I LIKE THIS. Then he said what's all this , I stood and I said I'M HOME LOST MY JOB FELLING TERRIBLY ILL. He cuddled me and I told him David were I'm going there's water and no electricity and I don't trust my brothers to look after my records . We laughed and he asked Rikki would you like a photo of the two of us together . I looked him in those eyes and said DAVID I had photos of you on my ceiling. We Laughed and looked at the table and there was the setlist . I asked could I have this , he took a pen from the proceeds write something on the setlist , and hands me it I looked and said you've spelt it wrong . He was laughing and then handed me a envelope and then we said our goodbyes . Barry there was £1100 in that envelope. Hope you have enjoyed my time that I met Halloween Jack . Hope we can talk again. Love on ya
