Importante and positive thinking. Syempre, struggle ang first few years namin, pero ngayon after so many years, no regrets.

Ang masasabi ko lang sa mga gustong mag ibang bansa, if you have the opportunity then grab it.
Make sure lang na be prepared mentally, emotionally,at physically. Kahit ano mangyri walang regrets. Kung magwork that’s good, if hindi then tuloy angbuhay dahil for sure madali lang makakabangon ulit dahil sa mga experiences na nakuha.

It is easier said than done. You said if it did not work, tuloy lng ang buhay. Better think 1000 times before you decide.

@@Johnapacible6352 sugal talaga pero if you are smart enough hindi ka uuwi ng empty handed. Make sure na bago ka umuwi ay may ipon ka kahit ppaano dahil we all know malaki ang conversion from CAD to peso.
Kaya as i’ve said din make sure na prepared ka mentally, emotionally. Kaya hindi ako naniniwala na wala kang babalikan dahil you can always start fresh if you are prepared and may gameplan and of course samahan ng prayers.
kung nakapagpundar ka ng mga properties dito sa pinas then meaning you already the experience on how to get on that position again.

Settling in another country is a matter of choice. With it comes challenges and uncertainties. Nothing is handed on a silver platter. The system is different and you have to understand it. Just be patient and work your way. Canada is a great country- plenty of opportunities. Nice life abroad doesn’t happen overnight. You have to earn it.

The only thing I can tell you being here in Canada for 26 years is just be patient, be humble and most important is prayer. Always ask the Lord for guidance in all that you do. We came here as independent immigrant at talagang mahirap. We don’t have relatives here and all the money we saved from working in Saudi and Philippines was spent, you have to start from scratch. Prayers and patience lang, don’t look back kung anoang success mong na achieved sa Philippines, I forgot the successes my career in the Philippines, instead I look forward with patience and after all those years, retirement na kami.

One major regret I have in life is going back here in the Philippines kasi sa ibang bansa madaling magipon basta live within your means ka lang and madiskarte. I regret not working in Canada while I already have my working visa. Kasi natakot ako sa cost of living pero ex OFW na ako sa ibang bansa prior to that and did well sa career ko.
I don't like my career though but I can learn to love it or pwede naman magpalit ng careeer.
What I don't like here sa Pinas is yung too much freedom ng mga tao to the point na wala ng discipline like anytime they want to blast their videoke session's volume, magiinuman sa kalye, sidewalk is parkingan na at hinaharangan na ang hindi nila bahay, crime ang bagal ng justice system, bayad muna bago ma admit sa ospital, calamities, poor rescue and so on.
May income tax kang makukuha per child.

My then 6-mo pregnant wife and I moved to Toronto in the late 90s in the middle of winter. We were “independent immigrants” which was the terminology back then - we had our PR papers even before we left pinas. I want to emphasize the importance of having funds. Your “baon” will play a critical role in determining how you start your lives here. We paid for the delivery of our first born ($5K) because we were not covered by the gov’t insurance then.
We were established professionals sa pinas - both worked mgmt roles in multi-nat’l companies. But we had a shared goal that we wanted to raise a family in a place with better opportunities. We came with enough $ to last us 2 yrs without a job. Thankfully, the first job I got was aligned with my profession and I didn’t have to go through the min wage route (although I was aware of the possibility that I might end up flipping burgers or cleaning floors even before we left pinas - no shame in that - dignity of labour). Since I made enough to support the fam, my wife did not work for 2 yrs to raise our child - there was no child support from the gov’t then. This decision proved to be great for our family but delayed my wife’s entry back into the working world. Since I had a job and we used the extra “baon” to buy a new car and put a down payment for our first house. My wife got a job eventually and our kid was in daycare ($1k/mo back then with no child benefit).
From our experience, it took us about 5 yrs to settle in and establish our lives here. By then we had a 2nd child and started enjoying the fruits of our hard work. Fast fwd 20+ yrs later, we’ve travelled the world, have acquired investment properties in ON and AB (we recently bought a townhouse up in Livingston Views just north of Calgary). Our kids an on their way to becoming a dentist and a doctor. Believe me I would have preferred to have them finish 4-yr degrees so I can retire early 😂.
I do not mean to flex. I am saying this hopefully to inspire and encourage people to FIGHT THROUGH whatever you’re situation is now - THINGS WILL GET BETTER. We had an easier journey than most migrants we know - we all have our own paths - do not feel bad when you see others “ahead” of you. WORK HARD but remember to rest your body and reward yourself.
Move to ON - success rate is better here. A lot more opportunities vs AB for your professional background. The weather is better, the P-noi community is bigger (of course we have lots of crabs here too) and we have better travel deals to Europe, Pinas, the US and the rest of world 😊. We also have rent control - I only raised my tenants rents by 2.5% and 5%. All the best to your fam. 😊

@@joyg5786 maganda is subjective - it all depends on your preference and what you bring to the table in terms of work experience. overall, i would say Ontario (particularly the Greater Toronto Area or GTA) has the most to offer in terms of opportunities, better weather, etc.. my sis-in-law moved from ON to AB just to try it out and she moved back after 6 months. however, be prepared in terms of expenses. rent alone is about CAD$1000 per month (that's for a room only - living, dining, kitchen, bath, etc. are shared with other tenants). DO YOUR RESEARCH - you have so much info nowadays at your disposal - USE THEM so you can make an informed decision.

If you think mas maginahawa or happy kayo sa Pilipinas, then be it. First choice ko bansang malamig. Ive been to England. Nakaka adik din minsan ung thought of not staying and keep on moving from one place to another. Ang first reason ano nga ba naging unang dahilan bakit kayo nag abroad.

Iba iba lang talaga...All the best.🤩🤩🤩

Living in Canada is not for everyone. Kaya ibahin tlaga mindset. Kaya madami nafufrustrate ksi nga ung expectations nila masyadong mataas or "assuming" unlike mga OFWs na karamihan na kilala ko alam nila na need magstart from scratch talaga. Madami prin mas gusto abroad dahil ung quality of life iba tlga. Ang disiplina sa ibang bansa iba prin (in general). Kanya kanya talaga kaya good luck sa lahat.

An advice from a pinoy who came here in canada last 2011..noong nsa pinas kmi i was already expecting na iba ang buhay na hindi yung work q sa pinas ang maging work q dito sa canada..being in canada is such a hardwork..kc d ka pued paupo upo dito..you have to work hard..and then upgrade..first advice, live in a small city..just like us we came here in red deer city in alberta a small city..ang cost of living d msyado malaki..after 3 yrs nakapagpundar kmi at nkabili ng single home..marami ang work specially sa healthcare..pued ka mg double job kc in 5-10 mins nsa other job kana..and then pgdating nyo, puedeng c husband muna mg fulltime job at c misis mg upgrade kung gusto nya iwork yung goal nya na kung ano yung degree nya sa pinas ay maging work nya din dito sa canada..mg aral..we are already 12 yrs here in red deer and we are [happy]..we are stable and travel2 na din once in a while outside of the country..gnyan tlga mgstart sa zero..for me ms ok pa din dito sa canada..but then mgstart tlga sa small cities not in big cities like toronto or BC..

My situation and my husband's were completely different, different in a way that going back was not a choice. We were young, I was 21, he was 23 when we got here. Both with great jobs back home and both came from nothing (dirt poor). We have decided from the beginning we are here in Canada for good. Decades later, we both have our own successful businesses, multiple properties and all the siblings and families we brought after. Life is not a walk in the park in Canada but you can make it if you really want to. Life is safe here and the things you need is easy to obtain if you are willing to work for it. Having said that, Canada is not for everyone. The winter is harsh and it can be lonely.

In fact thats the way you'll find that life is a struggle, a lot of challenges ,trials, n difficulties,,,life is not a comfort zone...but a battlezone. its better to face your dreams rather than facing a life of lazyness and unfulfilled promises. Haha! All the best po!

As an OFW married to American for 25 years, before I don’t know anything about what my life would be here in America when I first came. I was surprised how much the monthly bills every month, so learning from my husband advices and experiences. If you’re working, start saving for retirement and for emergency fund and don’t spend more beyond your income. Save for vacation. The problem for us Filipino here in abroad are like the bank for supporting our Family in the Philippines that’s why most Filipino abroad are having a hard time financially because they send their earnings to their families instead they put aside for future funds when you’ve become old.
It’s normal for us to feel down specially during winter time, so my advice is to reach out to a Filipino community and join them.

Went to Canada at the age of 26, after 9 and 1/2 years left for California ,currently Retired RN . Even though we’re stable , established here with family of my own ,I often think of the Philippines and gets so nostalgic . I visit Philippines as much as possible every 2 years. As I said ,”THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME”. … PHILIPPINES. But as for me .I won’t be happy to live there , because I got family here in California and siblings in Vancouver.

If you have a stable job in the Philippines
there's no need of going abroad for life in the Philippines is really good specially the weather, and even food. In U.S. for instance regarding food almost everything is frozen like meat, fish and poultry products they are all frozen unlike in the Philippines they are fresh for fresh
food are much tastier than frozen foods.
      Apartment rentals are expensive too.
So if you have a good job there it is much better to our native land the so called pearl of the orient sea.

Your relatives can always visit you in the Philippines. Hubby and me have retired and visit Philippines 3x a year. Philippines is just 8 hours away so my kids can visit us should we permanently move back to our home country. We love where we are now as the weather is so good. No snow and summer is not as hot. You will discover a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy during Winter time. Apart from watching Winter games at home, you can learn skiing, snow shoeing, ice skating, ice fishing in the lake, hunting wild games during the Fall season. There are lots of community social gathering (parties, official holiday celebration) within the Filipino community. There are over 30 Filipino associations where you are living now. Emma, there are Filipino lawyers from PI who made it here. You can research what is required .

Blue collar country ba ang Canada?. Dito sa Australia.. nilinaw ko sa mga relatives ko na kahit mga Doctor ,Engineer, Lawyers ,Business Owners (Except Healthcare Workers).. ay handa silang magumpisa as Workers and never afraid of change and failures... people who are practical and works with hands dirty, build more wealth. And after 15yrs , most of them became successful in their chosen path.
