I'm looking for Sr. Planning & Scheduling Engineer (Civil or Mechanical or Electrical Engineer) in New York City. Salary is $12,000 to $16,000 a month with bonus & salary increase every year. I'm a FilAm Civil Engineer from the Philippines & worked as Director of different Global Construction companies in New York. I worked for Donald Trump & Trump Organization in the late 90's to early 2000.
My family and I immigrated to Toronto in 2008. My dad was an electrical engineer back home. By the grace of God, he found a job 3 months after arriving here as a building systems engineer. He has been working for the same company since then. I’m currently a mechanical engineering intern working for a utility company and throughout my studies, i’ve met a lot of Filipinos that are engineering graduates back home. Some are new graduates and some have already worked for years back home. As he was saying in the video, it’s not so easy to land a good job here in Canada. It takes a lot of time and sacrifice. I have such huge respect for those with families who come here and start from scratch. My advice is to do lots and lots of research before coming here. It’s not the Canada it used to be. Congrats to you sir! You remind me of my dad. Without his successes, we wouldn’t be where we are.
In Canada they need cleaners. Shopping malls, food courts..and nurses and cleaners in hospital who are ready to work cheap to lower wages. Also Tim Horton need cashiers.
I like your positivity. It takes years of hard work na may kasamang diskarte.
Hindi ako nakatapos sa Pinas, pero meron akong enough experience and motivation, so I took the Professional Engineers Licensure dito sa California. One important thing I learned here in America, be diverse on your skill sets. Don't give up.
Experience in your field is an advantage but still your education (Canadian) is most important. I landed a job in a federal government. It took me 7 years bago nakapasok. Ang masasabi ko, tiyagaan talaga at if need mong improve ang skills mo, do it! Good luck sa ating kabayans na hoping for a bringht future here in Canada🙏
yong pamangkin ko pharmacist pero pharm tech now and kumuha pa ng exams para maging qualified na tech. she has to go to school and take terminal grad studies and take exam to be qualified to be called a pharmacist. dahil mahal mag aral sa USA, tiis muna.
As a fellow civil engineer from the Philippines that moved to Canada.
Sir...i know how it feels. I've been there. So nice to hear Filipinos who are successful in their chosen field. Just like you, I started as a cleaner when I migrated to Canada. But God is good because I dont need to go back to school to upgrade. I'm a chemical engr specializing in water engineering. Since 2004, I have been employed to the City of Toronto engaging in drinking water equivalent of MWSS in Metro Manila. Proud to say that I'm the first Filipino to penetrate this department that long. All the best for you and the rest of other Filipinos who are employed in their field of expertise.
Congrats. Im new to US, Washington.. 40 yrs as Construction Mgr of my own company, Project management & Estimating. Presently, Im searching on how I could be a Estimating Engr here in WA, as there are lots of hiring on this particular field..
❤very true indeed hindi basta madaling makuha yung profession as a civil engineer dito sa canada lalo na dito sa vancouver, naranasan ko rin yan, as of now nag wowork paden ako as a warehouse person sa kilala at malaking retail company ng buong canada. i have been living here since 1992. i worked as a design steel structural draftsman and quantity estimator sa AG&P Co. Inc. sa pinas for 10 years and 5 years sa Singapore and malaysia before i came here in canada. God bless you engineer at ipagpatuloy mo lang yung dream mo and hopefully maging succesful ka.❤
Nowadays our country the phils need people like you graduates we can help improve our nation multi nationals are back and for sure they need your brain to work in their office lets pray hope n we can revive our land
lol😂 your country Philippines is scary. lot of criminals. scammer. and foremost slaughter. better live abroad than Philippines. at there your life is short for so many criminals surrounds you. never to Philippines.
Tipo kalsada kahit ayos sinisira.
My husband is a civil engr but he is not a board passer but by the Grace of our Almighty GOD,he worked here in Copenhagem Denmark as senior planning engr in Zublin Company
Hindi po lahat nakukuha kagad natin yung gusto nating trabaho.just be thankful sa opportunity na dumarating sa atin and pray lang at wag mawawalan ng pag asa.
Ako rin po eng’r sa Pinas ng pumunta ako dito sa Canada nagpa evaluated ako that was 1987 eh so they said I have to go back to school for 2 yrs. so di na sa yang ang oras kung mag aaral pa ulit so I just kept ang work ko. But then again after working for 3 yrs. I decided to go back to school para mag ECE then I become a nursery school teacher at least na Navaho ko ang status ng work being a baby sitter. I live happier and pretty contented sa buhay.
Totoo yun start from bottom. And hindi madali. Architect ako sa Philippines and malawak na din experience ko from SG. Pero nag start ako as AutoCad Technician ng ilang years din, until naka kuha ng managemen position and now in process yun application ko for my Canadian archi license. Goodluck po sa Journey ninyo and awesome project/ experience yun broadway tunnel.
The first step is find a certificate to affirm your experience as quantity surveyor. This will offset the canadian experience requirement. Second get a certified technician certificate from regulator such as professional engineer association. Here in Canada diploma from university is not enough you need a certificate to confirm your experience. Once you have the required certificate with your experience you will succeed with your work. Engineer here is not a technical working experience but knowledgeable of the codes. such as building codes for CE, electrical codes for EE, ASME, SMACNA Plumbing Codes for ME. Engineer here is designated as designer, Plan maker for building plant design. In a construction environment Engineer make a design and interpretation of the design is done by construction company or project manager employed a certified technician, technologist but not engineer.
Same Situation in the U.S. I Started Working as Machine Operator & CCTV Technician, Eventually I got my break with GOD'S BLESSING, Project Manager to a small Filipino company in California, now Project Civil Inspector in Pennsylvania for DOT. With my 32 years experience in Philippines & Middle East comes in handy. Even at 60 yrs old Im Still studying my Master & Certifications to be competitive.
Great that you landed a great job at PennDOT. I used to work for a road analytics software (as project manager) and we proposed to PennDOT, won the contract too but i left the company for greater job :(
Good to know may ka-PICE pala ako dito sa Greater Vancouver Area. I had to give up my life as a civil/ construction engineer because of all the hardship that you said. Happy for you, you got yours 👍
Talagang ganyan. Umpisa sa mababang trabaho. Pinag daanan ng marami yang di naka pag TRABAHO according to their profession o kung anu man ang natapos nilang kurso. You just need Canadian work experience. Mag this muna. Kasi yung iba namimili ng trabaho.
Thank you for sharing sir.
Hope this will help. Also mas mainam din kung may linkedin profile kayo. 😊
Feati U graduate. Immigrated here in the USA. Worked as a cost engineer in a construction company and then lucky enough to get hired as a highway design engineer in state department of transportation, got his four years professional experience to qualify to take the professional engineering license here in the states , passed his EIT and PE ( civil branch) here in the states at the age 26 , and retired as a program engineering manager, heading the design section where he started as a civil engineer I. I think you have more opportunities here if you have the luck to come to the states or Canada, based on my husband’s experience. In addition to that, my husband petitioned all his siblings and family here in the states. That’s a big difference. It really changed the economic life of your family for the future generations. I have seen that to my husband’s situation. Don’t be discouraged to come here if you have the chance. Good luck!
Im wondering, when he applied as a cost engineer, what where the requirements did the company ask? Im curious, as Im in WA, US, now... Im looking for a job as a Estimating Engr... Thank in Advance..
Pumasyal kami dyan last week sa Vancouver medyo mahal lahat from food , rent and gas hindi ko alam kung malaki ang sahod ng mga tao dyan ang mga bahay milyones ang price kahit bulok na at rent ng condo or apt. or basement mahal
Vancouver is one of 10 top cities in the world. Cost of living is high. Salaries vary according to the person’s capabilities, willingness to work. Obviously a janitor’s pay is not equal to a supervisor’s or manager’s pay. The secret? Keep on learning. Upgrade yourself.
I’ve been in Canada for 50 years and I agree they always ask for Canadian experience even back in the 70’s but eventually I got a job but of course at the beginning don’t be too choosy.
I passed the Civil Exam in PH in 1962, worked in NIA (1962-1964), AG&P (1964-1969), MERALCO CIVIL ENG'G DEPT (1969-1974), Moved to Canada in 1974. Arrived in Canada Nov 10, 1974. Started at Acres 13th Nov'74 to July'75. Then moved SNC in 1976...then to Kilborn Eng'g in Nov'76. SNC-LAVALIN bought Kilborn Eng'g in 1996-1967 stay in place till Dec'2016. Got one year severance pay of $120k...I'm one of the successful MIT-1962 graduate with a very good job in Canada...
Nice to know fellow Cardinal you arrived in Canada in 1974 and opportunities are better achieved during that time less people not this time. In 2000 i had a family sponsorship to migrate to Canada but i declined since i am not keen to start from scratch. Already established here in the Phils with several houses and condos and farm land. I will be retiring in 3 yrs time to 55 and US and Canada is just my vacation spots.
It is really how a person can adjust in another country .Every country has its own rules You need to beat the rules .There are short way to do it and that is what prospective migrants has to learn just like if one is an engg graduate or college graduate there are courses offered in canada that allow one to practice such a course in Power Plant Engr one year course would allow one to receive 4th to 3rd Class License and 2 year course a 2nd to 1st Class License that when one is employed can receive salary from Canadian.Dollar 60k to 130 K salary per year..
We all are started from the bottom, it’s not just US or Canada, you need to pass the board exam to be eligible for the job, some professions they are required to go back to school to complete the units to qualify for the exam. Like nurses in order to practice their profession they need to pass the board exam wherever they are in the world. I’m a retired RN in California with 37 years service, sharing my blessings to my relatives and others and living my life to the fullest, thank God ❤
hindi naman yun dahil sa kalidad ng education natin..yung Canada lang yung maarte, I wonrt call them mahigpit, maarte sila not to recognize other country's level of education,..sa US kasi, once pumasa ka na sa US boards, you're set to work...pero yun nga lang, that's their prerogative, so pag pumunta ka ng Canada, tanggap mo ng di ka makakapractice...its the quality na lang of life and future of your kids ang insipin mo..
@@Ternz_TV yes I understand, pero mas mahirap pa rin boards sa US, I took my exams and I passed it in one take but nearly 2 dozen co-applicants from my agency bumagsak, pero even eventually they still manage to pass and now practice their profession here.. all Im saying, mas supportive pa rin sa America for foreign applicants,
@@angel91485 same lang din po.. if you are able to pass the board exam here, you can also practice your profession. Both countries won't allow you to practice your profession unless be granted a special privilege or pass the board exam. 😊
Thanks sa information.thats the spirit if true filipino.lumalaban di sumusuko🤙😍👊💪.basta mabuti ang layunin palagi ka May courage to continue no matter the challenges.Salute to you Kabayan.🇵🇭
Ako graduate ng accounting ay Administrative Assistant dito for 24 years hanggang mag retired.
@@ramonborcelo2531pwede NMN take exam sa OFFICER CANDIDATE COURSE ng PHILIPPINE ARMY,PG graduate mo 2nd LT- FUTURE GENERAL,malamang sa ENGINEERING BATTALION ASSIGNMENT.
kung andito kasana sa Ontario I can help you get an engineering job without necessarily having to upgrade. I have a friend who is VP of engineering company.
Hello, sir my husband is a civil engr. Sana mabasa mo ito. We are in Scarborough now.
Nakuha ko din yung Professional Engr designation ko at working now as a Geotechnical Engr.
I think there are still orgqnizations that provide paid skill trade training. You are earning while learning new skills and they also help you get experience. So sa mga newcomers dito, its worth checking.
This is true.. sa company namin may mga coop students, they work and at the same time get allowances/salary. Hindi ko lang alam magkano coz I never asked them.
Its all about financial education.
Not Really, How can you say sapat kung kulang? Kaya paia ang daming umaalis sa Pinas at nag work overseas? No amount of Financial Education can solve your issues kung kulang?
More than 40 years na ako sa US, napakakonti lang ang alam kong umuwi ng Pilipinas for good, in fact, mabibilang sa isang kamay! I'm not saying that it's better here, fully assimilated lang ang majority ng immigrants, lalo na mga Pinoy, after 5 years, in my experience.
Right! I’ve never thought that I’ll ever stepped to American soil, there’s no place like home a same old quote but it’s true brothers, I might go back to the Philippines to do the rice Farming
I was told one need to have a "professional mentor" and get into their licensure exam if you really want to pursue the profession and have your license and experienced be credited.
Kahit dito sa France they don’t accept easily foreigner in they’re company they prefer they’re own local people ma taas din kasi unemployment rate nila dito and they don’t accept diplomas abroad kahit 20 yrs nurses kana…you need to undergo a refresh of studies probably 6 months plus learning the language probably takes you 3- 5 yrs to be at ease ..✌🏼🇫🇷
Work abroad, ipon lang then retire sa Pinas. Pinaka maganda.
True said Kabayan I watched your Video.I'm living here in Australia for 47 years now and currently retired.Australia and Canada had similar Policies bcoz both being a member of Commonwealth Government.Like what with one of your viewer said,it doesn't mean kung engineer ka sa Pinas yun din ang trabaho mo abroad. It also defends in what University you finish your degree, when I came to Australia I met a lots of engineers and accountants graduated in Colleges and yet they cannot get a job like they had in the Pinas bcoz they are not recognise and ends up working in different jobs which is not related to what they finish for...I was not able to finish my ME degree when I came to Australia but bcoz of my 40 years experience in the Trade, as a Diesel Fuel Injection Engineer I was recognise as a member in the Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineer and don't need to study again.
Dahil hindi affiliated ang education system ng Filipinas, pero mas maganda na dyan dahil done in a good way….lahat ng tao mamamatay balang araw, so invest for your future there
Graduating from a foreign country requires you to get a state or Canada license you need to study more and pass the licensing exam and start from the bottom and bring yourself up little at a time...
For Engineering Courses and plan to migrate student in the Phil should select that are ABET accredited such as Mapua University, TIP , UST check the school students intend to study.Being a graduate of ABET accredited school will allow student to get a license in Canada, Australia, Ne Zealand no examination is needed but not in USA if he or she has at least 3 years experience in Phil or abroad
Mahirap din makakuha ng work dito if no experiences sa Pinas or abroad. My husband is an architect sa Pinas and abroad pero nakakuha sya ng job dito ay architectural designer/technologist ayaw na mag aral ulit para maging registered Architect dahil contento na rin sa job and pay.
Civil engineering degree or other engineering degree ay hindi recognized dito sa Canada. You need to study again to be recognized as P.Eng (Professional Engineer). Halos 3 years din extra studies kasi halos iilan lang sa mag subject mo (almost none) and ma credit. Sa mga may balak mag migrate dito, if you are young with lots of time and money, go for it. Pero pag may family ka na kasama dito mahirap unless marami kang dalang pera to support your studies and family.
Magpa evaluate ng credentials sa NCEES for FE Exam Civil. Pasok mga schools sa Pinas jan, even provincial schools. Take the exam 110 questions lang 5hours. AM and PM session.
Equivalent naman subjects from Ph to Canada, depends sa county mo.
A must ang local studies. Keep learning.
New subscriber po ninyo ako. God bless !
22 years after is well established na kami. filipinos are one of the higher educated and higher earning minority dito sa north america, kasi matyaga tayo at sa totoo lang is preferred employees tayo kasi bukod sa di tayo mareklamo, magaling at mapa raan. kaya pag me nakakausap ako ng bagong dating, i always advise them na wag mag settle sa mga jobs na makukuha nila. upgrade and/or keep applying. ang mahalaga is makakuha ng konting experience and that will open up opportunities for them. God Bless.
Hello Engr. I'm currently studying Architecture here in the Philippines and actually graduating this coming 2025 (hopefully). I'm planning not to take a board exam since required saamin ng 2 years apprenticeship before taking the board exam. I'm planning to go to Canada also right after my graduation next year. I'll be living with my uncle and relatives in Kelowna, BC. My question is, is there a good possibility na makapag work ako in line with my field in architecture? Also was it good to apply for work while I'm here in the Philippines (though I only have at least 5 to 6 months experience) and wait for my employer or is it better to fly in Canada and then start applying for work?
Everywhere you go, if u have not finished your course in that country you need to start from scratch. I used to work in the UK as a Registered nurse and we have care givers who are licensed Doctors in the Philippines. You really should accept what awaits you when u go abroad. You need to upgrade.
I am Architect sa Qatar for 13years. Naisip ko din mag Canada. But I am worried what kind of work and makukuha ko jn. So Mag ba back to Zero ako. So Mahirap po pla. How much nmn po kya salary jan as QS Po compare Sa Qatar po?
sa sahod po, well sa umpisa maliit po, 8years ago nasa 10,000QAR ang sahod ko sa qatar, now po less tax na, after 8 years here mas mataas napo ang sahod ko dito compared sa qatar
Hi sir, naghahanap po ako ng any opening job for subway project baka meron kayo opening any available job.currently holding open work permit with subway project experience as inspector.salamat
So kung may experience at proof of fund kayo best way is mag-apply at magpunta kayo dito as a skilled worker through the express entry system.

Thanks for the nice words and salute also to your dad, am sure he inspired you all 😊
In Canada they need cleaners. Shopping malls, food courts..and nurses and cleaners in hospital who are ready to work cheap to lower wages. Also Tim Horton need cashiers.

I like your positivity. It takes years of hard work na may kasamang diskarte.

Good luck!

Dtio sa Canada tyagaaan lang talaga,
totoo po yun 😊
Wow, congrats kabayan👍❤️.. Godbless u💕💕💕

Ito yong effects sa kahirapan sa pinas.
sad but true po
Mahirap din makakuha ng work dito if no experiences sa Pinas or abroad. My husband is an architect sa Pinas and abroad pero nakakuha sya ng job dito ay architectural designer/technologist ayaw na mag aral ulit para maging registered Architect dahil contento na rin sa job and pay.
That is good to hear po, may mga kaibigan kami, nag-aral ulit kaya registered architect sila dito
Pero pag may family ka na kasama dito mahirap unless marami kang dalang pera to support your studies and family.
agree with everything you said sir 😊
Nope, you can get qualified through experience by writing to Egbc. Also my work in Canada recognize my engineer work in Ph.
Magpa evaluate ng credentials sa NCEES for FE Exam Civil.
Pasok mga schools sa Pinas jan, even provincial schools.
Take the exam 110 questions lang 5hours. AM and PM session.
Kapag may nakasalubong ako na mga Pinoy dito nagSmile lang ako sa kanila at minsan nagSmile back din sila pero hindi lahat…understandable yon dahil hindi nila ako kilala at minsan kc may mga Pinoy na kapag nakasalubong mo at binigyan mo ng atensyon bigla na lang may iaalok sayo dahil Malimit mangyari yan sa akin,we’ve been here since 2008.
May bearing experience mo.
Equivalent naman subjects from Ph to Canada, depends sa county mo. Sa PE Exam lang magkatalo.
CEC na po ako dito sa Canada 😊
same situation sayo sir…god is good all the time pray lang lagi maganda ang plano parn ng diyos para sayo,pa shout out mo ko sir from surrey,BC

A must ang local studies. Keep learning.
New subscriber po ninyo ako. God bless !

Sir will you help my daughter just passed mechanical engr
ang primary reason namin to migrate to canada is para sa future ng kids namin. tulad ng marami, nag start din kami from the bottom. and same sa na experience mo, ang laging sinasabi sa amin is wala kaming canadian experience at hindi kami educated sa canada. pero ok lang sa amin yun kasi our kids are getting canadian education and they also got canadian experience. and yun naman talaga ang reason bakit kami nag move di ba? sinwerte din kami ng misis ko kasi saglit lang kami nag work ng odd jobs, o job na wala sa linya namin. after a few months is naka kuha kami ng trabaho na IT related. syanga pala, nag aral yung wife ko for a few months kaya nakakuha sya ng IT job. God Bless.
Ang ganda po ng mga sinabi nyo. Coming from personal experience nyo po. Salamat po sa pagshare ng story nyo 😊

@@markarellano8891 itatanong ko sa kaibigan kong archi dito sir

Everywhere you go, if u have not finished your course in that country you need to start from scratch. I used to work in the UK as a Registered nurse and we have care givers who are licensed Doctors in the Philippines. You really should accept what awaits you when u go abroad. You need to upgrade.
agree with all you said
It is good to upgrade. Dagdag sweldo

So kung may experience at proof of fund kayo best way is mag-apply at magpunta kayo dito as a skilled worker through the express entry system.
