- I actually went into this review not expecting much, it being the fifth versions of both C-3PO and Chewbacca we've gotten in the Star Wars Black Series and a lot of reuse, but I'll be danged if Hasbro didn't improve on both. Bring on more The Empire Strikes Back figures!

I’m glad I hadn’t picked up a C3PO or Chewie beforehand.
This was the perfect set for my from my favorite film of the series.
The Target exclusive 3PO with Babu Frik also has the elbow articulation from 4-LOM. The rear head plate is also removable on that one to show wire details in the head.
Now we just need an Episode 1 3PO that's ONLY wires.
That's exactly what I've been thinking, that's my favorite version of him, but I also like his Ep2 version where he's got the old plating before it's gold

The rifle's new. It has a longer clip & doesn't bend up at the front end, like some of them do.
Also, Chewbacca's bandoleer strap/ pouch is different too. And it's made to fit into his body, so it lays flat an stays put under the fur from his head, too. All in all an excellent package with 2 great figures that you can use any way you like!

This Chewy has one less stomach swivel than the other ones so that could be why it’s just a bit shorter. I think all the other ones have two stomach swivels (edit: @ 10:33 the Solo Chewy only has 1 torso swivel too, and he appears to be the same height as this one). Also, in the movie C-3PO is transported around with his right arm attached, so for accuracy sake that’s how I have mine situated in his net. Great review as always!
Also for extra movie accuracy, we need two right arms haha

I love this set. It is my display piece. I’ll borrow the fully put together 3PO if I need it. I am realizing the shelf space is going away. It’s nice because it’s like a droid holster. Holds all the pieces in one place.
This Chewbacca is alive in sculpt and paint just because of the eyes. The other figures look okay with the non-real D paint figures. But those eyes take this to another level. I know they will do this same figure down the road, maybe a tweak here and there. I’ll buy that. But I’m gonna get a bit more picky.
All these previous 3-PO and Chewie figures may become custom fodder. I want the rude white droid, that silver one in Phantom... sure. I want Black Krrsatan and he’s unlikely to be made. I have a few Chewie figs to try that out.

I'm 90% sure this chewie will be released in the upcoming 40th anniversary backcard this year.
If you wanted to go for movie accuracy, when 3po is in the backpack, his left arm is already assembled

Get the target exclusive 3p0 with babu frik. His eyes turn red in the cold and the back of his head peels off

I was going to completely skip this, but they look great and I love the look of threepio looking over Chewie's shoulder on his back. Probably won't get this at full price, but I'll look out for a sale. Great review!
I am with you on digging the burnished gold look here a lot, it looks great. I like it more than when they do a mirror finish.

Great review Robo! The only Chewy I have is the Solo version but I think his head pops off and maybe then you can slide the strap across his chest and under his arm? Either way a great set and the C3PO is a definite upgrade over the TFA one. A must buy for me, lol.
The covers for the legs have a little slit so you can push then right up to the body :)

I have 4 Chewbacca figures on display in my collection at the moment. One for the Force Awakens, one for the Last Jedi, one for Solo and one for the Original Trilogy. There is also a much older one in a box under my bed. They are all slightly different and serve a different purpose.

We have the perfect chewbaca and C3PO and now we need a New R2D2 mold
I suspect SHF will release this set too; getting the most out of those molds!

The C3P0 you may be looking for is the one that comes with Babu Frik. I liked the eyes gimmick on that one a lot.

I thought the fifty dollar price tag was a but much when you first mentioned it, but seeing all the changes they made to 3PO is making me wonder if I want this set now.

Shoot a little bit of “Pledge revive it floor gloss” in those loose C3-PO joints, should tighten them up.
i got this as a gift from someone for christmas. but, that netting was such a pain i decided to just place them next to each other instead going through crap of trying to do the whole 3po in a backpack net thing.
also if you decide to pose him that way in the netting. you may want to give him either his right arm or left one on his torso like it was in the movie.

Isn't that torso and head sculpt new? He's shorter too (missing an articulation point in the midriff). I found it a bit odd that he has dual trigger fingers? Put 3po on an old Chewie.,and face 3po forward. Thanks Robo

This is a pretty cool Teen Wolf figure.
Wish they gave Chewie the bowcaster too. Were back to the silver lower leg and gold foot, the way I remember it. In starting to think there may be something to this Mandela Effect thing.

Ugh! I think you just convinced me to get this set.
I just got mine (thanks to you) and I did some parts swapping. I'm using the original Black Series Chewey and the original C-3PO with the silver leg as my Empire Strikes back set with the net. Since Chewey has the screaming face and 3PO is gonna be taken apart and on his back, I don't need the better articulated one wasted. I swapped the silver right foot for the netted 3PO and the better articulated 3PO will stand next to my R2. :)
Ok. I got this 2 pak figure. And yes it's the redo Chewie and 3PO, but I knew that going in.
At 50 bucks it's a bit pricey but this is the way to use older sculpts tweaked a bit to sell and then have more cash to make other newer sculpts.
I get it.
The 3PO in the bag over Chewie's back is a good scene from Empire and I am ok with that too.
That said...
I will not buy anymore Chewie's till they make one with soft 'fur'.
And I am done with C3PO's period.
I think having a 6 inch chewie with fur will look a bit weird.
I don't think they'll ever make a 6 inch Chewie figure with real fur, that's what plushes are for

It came with the SDCC exclusive version of the figure a couple of years ago.
So I did a comparison with the solo version of Han Solo with the Chewbacca right now and it's a perfect size comparison

Heh, because I used to call the elbow all sorts of other different parts like knee or shoulder all the time, it became a running joke, then I started emphasizing it with the different colors when I actually got it right. Then that started the trend of people asking what that was instead of correcting me, the joke ran it's course, now I only do it randomly.

Get the master piece C3po with the book ...I think it comes apart and it comes with the cargo net..
The only two things stopping me from getting this is that I prefer C3PO with symmetrical colored legs and I have no need for Chewbacca

Same Figure, This One has the Silver Shin He had in ESB and Weathering but It doesn't have the Red Eye Changing feature as the TROS 3PO & Babu Frik set.

@@Sybato Yes, He has the Updated Eyes with the Plastic Inserts, just like the Galaxy's Edge Droid Pack C-3PO, and the 3PO & Babu Frik 2 Pack, they just don't turn Red.
LOL.. I have never looked under the fur skirt.. but I am strangely relieved that Chewbacca has pants on.
Idk if it's because the eyes are too low/far apart and/or if it's because the (paint?) legs look even more barbell like but... this is easily my least favorite BS Chewie... which is frustrating because this is easily the best BS 3-PO
