    Nice to see how you are leveraging the Mevo’s with e-camm and pro presenter.

    I pastor a small congregation in the same position as yours and we've just switched to a second MEVO, so thank you for your videos! I have a few questions;
    1. Is a stream deck the same thing as a switcher?
    2. This is new for my congregation and we're learning, so I don't know what is NDI. Is this another piece of equipment we need?
    3. We're constantly improving and striving to do our best for God, so thank you!

    In terms of bang-for-buck and engineered simplicity for the operators, this is an outstanding setup. I am really surprised that the Memo cameras are able to output NDI, which makes the whole integration into Ecamm so elegant. NDI seems really solid over Ethernet, but not so much if you try to use WiFi for it. I love Ecamm Live for ease of use, and once someone has set up all the required scenes and programmed them to Elgato StreamDeck buttons, you almost have the feel of a hardware video switcher as far as the operators are concerned. I went the ATEM mini route route instead, but I see the wisdom of your approach if you can use NDI cameras.
    If you want to focus on upgrading sound quality, may I suggest that a digital mixer will benefit you enormously. Not because it is digital per se, but because it provides access to compressors on every channel and a useful selection of reverb effects for vocals and even the ability to build a broadcast mix that is optimized differently than the front-of-house mix - all without extra outboard equipment. Also, the ability to save and recall the entire state of the mixer in named scenes is priceless. If you have a mix that is a good starting point for a particular style of service, you can have the sound operator dial that scene up when he arrives and make fine adjustments from there.

      Totally agree! I would love to replace our board with a digital one. Maybe someday.

    I watched your previous MEVO video and this video has been very helpful for our small church (70+ members). This update is definitely helpful too. I think that NDI is pretty slick, and also we only have 2 volunteers (still looking for the third) for doing media. I'm also considering getting that Streamdeck to make it easier for the volunteer.

    Great setup. I have the latest Mac mini with the m2 pro chip. Is it possible to use ecamm and pro presenter on one computer or are two needed?

    • @thebenbeckner
      @thebenbeckner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I would not suggest running both on the same program. Both programs can be heavy in the processing needs which can cause other reliability issues. My pro presenter machine I know couldn't handle both tasks at the same time. It is a 2019 MBP with the intel processor.

      @@thebenbeckner Actual Macbooks and iPads (Pro) should do the job due to much more processor power, but I have none of them available at the moment to try this out.

    My NDI problems were completely solved when I created a dedicated sub-net (with a wireless router in bridge mode) used exclusively for my NDI cams. We have a church broadcast that utilizes 2 HDMI cams and 6(!) static NDI cameras (which I'm using repurposed cellphones placed around the church).
    My question is... On my first taste of MEVO in NDI mode... I was getting about 1/4 second latency on it. This is completely unacceptable.
    Have you been able to reduce the latency so that it comes close to your audio sync? Or do you have to artificially delay your audio to match the video?
    (btw... I'm a one man production crew. I have a guy who operates sound when he wants to... Which is not every week) but when I am away, there is broadcast. Frustrating, but it's an old congregation.)

    • @thebenbeckner
      @thebenbeckner  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have created a sub-net and am experimenting with that as of the last couple weeks. I'll report back what I find.
      When your audio is brought directly into your camera, you have a greater result of everything staying sync. I know that there have been some instances by others where some drifting has occurred but that has not been my experience.
      It is hard to recruit volunteers and have consistency, especially with an older congregation. I think it seems overwhelming and there may be fears on messing something up. Don't give up, keep asking and invite others into small, temporary roles and those can sometimes develop into someone who is more committed and less intimidated as they become more familiar with procedures and equipment.

      @@thebenbeckner very interested to hear your progress. Unfortunately bringing the audio in through the camera is not an option as I switch cameras... But I don't mind chasing sync issues (or minimize) as they come. I just want to get it working as a proof of concept. The audio sync I can polish up afterwards.

      @@thebenbeckner for me... As far as recruitment, it's not difficult to teach people how to USE the system. But troubleshooting problems when it doesn't work out of the box, is difficult. And our congregation is much older... So not many people interested in this kind of thing.

    • @crooker2
      @crooker2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finally... I have been using the MEVO camera and the sync is quite good over NDI.

    Why not just add mevo cams into pro presenter via NDI and live stream through RTMP or Resi?

    • @thebenbeckner
      @thebenbeckner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I know I could spend more time in setting up Pro Presenter to achieve the looks and views we want and need. Ecamm makes that part so much easier and one less thing to tax this computer with.
      Also It takes something else off of the plate of the person running the presentation (we need those lyrics advanced on time!) and it involves someone else participating in the ministry of the church. I like that part!

    Quick question what are you using the iPad for? I just purchased the Stream Stack but I I have the iPad Pro 12.9 which is the one I use for the 3 Mevo I have set up at church. Can that be used with the iPad or I would have to use a mac laptop?

    • @thebenbeckner
      @thebenbeckner  ปีที่แล้ว

      We still use the iPad on occasion to stream with the multicam app as a backup if the computer is unavailable. If we are streaming with Ecamm as normal, we use the iPad to monitor the Facebook or TH-cam streams.
      In regards to using the stream deck with the iPad and multicam, that is not possible.
