If you have a question ask me in the comments.
I have no idea about how to sail a boat, but if I lived near you fellas, I’d buy one! Thanks for another vid.
Go on get one, cheers Paul
😂😂 I can't take it anymore! Gotta find a more calm relaxing peaceful channel to watch, this one has too much excitement, the speed, the adrenaline, thrill, the close calls!
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Good work. As a keel boat sailor who’s been around world, I still enjoy the small boats. Condensed adventures and more fun in shorter time. Subscribed
Well said! thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Deb potato. The good old days…
Love the giggle as you snuck up on Kingfisher. You surprised me for sure.
Thanks Josh and thanks for the amazing drone footage everyone loved it and your action man storm evasion footage made all the difference. You were the only one game enough to film while it happened. Thanks for making the trip such fun, see you on the next one, Cheers Paul
all the other vids i heard dead potato ... i thought it was a auzzi thing
Great video. The haves and the have nots" Small boats are great fun, I bet the occupants of gin palace that you sailed passed weren't have as much fun as you. 🙂
That's right....they did come out and take a photo.I hate to think what it would cost to run such a vessel, Thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
I was in that little Heron lol. The lady of the ship came out and took pictures of me sailing believe it or not. 🤣
Well done, good filming and amusing video with that nice group of sailors.
Thanks for watching we had a great time, Cheers Paul
The have nots are on this side of the screen after all the size of your boat is inversely proportional to the amount of fun. I think the Raiders have got the right idea, small but big enough.
Thanks for posting.
Thanks Glenn, I totally agree. A journey, a challenge, a campfire with lots of laughs....what's not to like? Thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Great videos Paul, I really enjoy them and the theme song at the start perfectly sets the scene. Great work, please keep it up.
My pleasure and check out the other videos if you want a bit of escapism or some useful hints on dinghy cruising, there are now 88 videos, cheers Paul
Looks like a top weekend was had by all. A pity I couldn’t make it. Thanks for the video.
Yep we had a good turn-out and lots of fun (and wind). I hope we will catch up on the next one Cheers Paul
Thanks Paul wonderful video and a great time was had by all. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve and the Food Channel want to know who's Marshall's agent.....cheers Paul
Loved this video. Keep coming back to watch it. Kids are calling it the Dinghy Gastronomy Tour!
Love that! if only it was true. Marshall has always been going on about Deb Potato and all I can remember about camping in England as a kid was the powdered mash was awful.Anyway he has given me a packet so stay tuned for the next video. Thanks as always Cheers Paul ,ps still want a tour of inside Hermione
@@SailingKateLouise I’m working on it! I’m going to do it as a part of her coming home video, but I need to go down WITHOUT children climbing through her. Else you’ll get a tour with transformer battles happening everywhere
@@afloatinawoodenboat 😁😁😁
I am what the world refers to as an old salt. I enjoy your videos . They go to the heart of cruising under sail in a simple but eloquent manner. Well done.
Paul in Canada
...and there is nothing wrong with being an old salt.....let's stick together, Cheers Paul
What a beautiful anchorage you were at. Lots of camaraderie and good dingy food. Very nice video (as always). Thank you for sharing & stay safe!
my pleasure thanks for coming along for the ride,Cheers Paul
All this time I thought you were saying “dead potato”! I finally realized it was Deb potato. Doh! Never heard of it in Canada, though. Krikey!
I also love your cinematography and music from Mike Vass. But most of all I appreciate that you are enjoying modest boats. It’s so easy to get caught up in two foot-it is. Ask me how I know!
Thanks Phil....yes I thought it was called 'Dead potato'. I even went into a supermarket and asked the girl for Dead Potato...she looked amused and said "Do you mean Deb Potato?"( it's an Australian thing...I'm fro the U.K.) and yes you can have just as much fun, maybe more in small boats without the expense....unless of course you want to cross oceans....but how many people have time to do that? Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
We very much enjoyed this video. It is a bit further away but have you been to Mallacotta. We have cruised this lake system in an 18' -trailer sailer. It would suit your boats also. You can camp at the foreshore caravqn park and day sail, or overnight in plenty of small coves. Enjoy your sailing.
Hi Linda, I went to Mallacoota many years ago when I first arrived in Australia and fell in love with mud brick houses and the area. I would love to come down and sail there for a few days, maybe when things get back to normal. I hope the bushfires didn't impact on you too much. Thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Thanks for letting me tag along.
My pleasure and thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
I was going to say Another Great Video but the first two comments say that so I won't bother. Hope you have a better sleep on the next one!
Thanks mate...I normally sleep well on the water but it was windy all night. Thanks for watching Cheers Paul
Wooo ! That challenge of beating thru the sudden wind n wave squalls was adrenaline pusher Paul. Been there done that up here few times but keeps the heart young n blood pumping I think.
Great ariels n enjoy video sweeps of close ups of boats, names n gorgeous clean light reflections. You always seem to keep even dull voyages quite interesting n me coming back for MORE .. isn’t the no wind n waiting part of the magic mate ??
Spectacular! Much appreciated.. I know this is a year old but new to me.
Fair wind Sir, papa J
PS working on a screen shoot of one of your gorgeous sunset. Not sure 🤔 I’m doing it justice but fun trying ! Cheers 🥂
Thanks Papa J, off to shoot a new one today, hopefully the wind and weather will be good....9 boats coming, cheers Paul
Hi Paul and Raid crew, looks like another great trip away. Will hopefully get on to the next Lake Mac trip with some luck. At least middle aged men sailing don`t wear Lycra ! Cheers and fair winds all.
Hi Phil and Brenda yes you were missed. We got a large turnout and had lots of fun (and wind) and yes thank God sailors don't wear lycra, if they did I would have no footage, all the best Cheers Paul
Hi Paul, enjoy all you videos, inspiring me to get a little sailing dinghy to go bay hopping here in southern Spain!
Just do it! you will never regret it. I spent a lot of time in Spain when I was younger...Feliz navegación, saludos Paul
@@SailingKateLouise I'm on the Cabo de Gata, Almeria!
@@andyjohnson4485 Very nice!
This looks like it was a lot of fun! Thanks.
My pleasure and thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Fantastic video, Paul. Thank you so much! From the frozen coast of New Hampshire in the states!
Hi mate thanks for watching. My wife prefers the cold to the humid summers we get in Sydney...but not that cold (unless it's beer) Cheers Paul
I have to say that was a really enjoyable video. Great bunch! Hi from the UK.
Thanks for watching Stefan, glad you enjoyed it, we had lots of laughs. Check out our other adventures on sailing Kate Louise, cheers Paul
As always Paul - great raid get together and your sharing it with us! Thanks to one and all - R
My pleasure Rob thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Thanks as always Paul for another great sailing video
That boat looks fantastic with her sails full pendents flying and hull down no better sight.
Please keep them coming
Cheers mate
My pleasure, yep it's hard to get footage of your own boat so I'm grateful to the other guys, thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Great boat large one and miniature ⛵️👍
Thanks Glyn I think the next project will be to make sails for minime ,thanks for watchlng, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise excellent viewing.. inspiring stuff.. better than watching telly ⛵️👍
Another great video Paul! The sail was wonderful with such great company. Thanks.
My pleasure David, we had lots of laughs, thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Thanks Paul, another great video. Good to see the community growing! All I need now is to get to 'build a dingy' on the bucket list. You never know!!
Thanks Piers, go on do it! Just make sure it's big enough to sleep in. Thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Another brilliant video Paul, looked like a great trip and beautifully put together as always. So immersive to watch I can practically feel the salty wind in my hair, it’s completely dissolved my Monday start I’d the work week blues. Has me keen to hit the high seas again asap! Good work on the shout out to patient wives too ;)
Thanks for those Kind words Tess Lulu, I'm glad to see I'm reaching a younger audience as well, thanks for watching again, Cheers Paul
Hi Paul :) Great video ! I have a Cygnet 20 which I sail out of Manly in Brisbane. Your channel is inspirational and although I've sailed the lovely Cygnet over 150 times, I've only been able to overnight twice. Recent weather has not been helpful ! Your efforts are much appreciated :) Cheers, Michael in Brisbane
Thanks Michael, yep it's been a summer to remember. I'm planning to meet up with Dave in a couple of weeks, who lives near Jervis Bay at St Georges basin he also has a Cygnet 20 so stay tuned, Thanks again Cheers Paul
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure Mick, I presume you are not The.... Mick Dundee? In Australia Mick Dundee was a character played by Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee a famous Australian movie, thanks for watching Cheers Paul
I built a 17' Yawl rigged Chinqoteague Skiff, Now if I could just get her from Alaska to Australia, I'd love to join you Mate's down under. Thanks Paul for another great adventure.
Really enjoyed you showing us the different vessels.
Michael we would love you to join us......but that's a long sail, but come anyway and I will take you out on Kate Louise, Cheers Paul
A spot of parmesan does wonders for Deb too.
Now you are talking....I'm writing that one down for next time, Cheers Paul
Always interesting & enjoyable to watch your video's Paul & this was another great one with some challenges thrown in from the weather & squalls. Good to see such a great turnout from the sailors of the Raid group too.
Thanks Ginny, yep the group is growing by the day and all lovely people, thanks for watching , cheers Paul
Hello Paul, your videos make me dream! I live in France near the city of Quiberon and I discovered that an Australian warship bore the name of Quiberon! I also own a small sailboat with which I plan to do Dinghy crusing. Thank you for making me dream !
Thanks for watching, you should also call your dinghy Quiberon....then there will be 2.Thanks again for watching stay safe Cheers Paul
Another great production and a couple of plugs for the raid group!
Thanks Rob, the more boats the more interesting people you get to meet, if you are near Sydney come and join us, Cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise I am in the Southern Suburbs of Sydney. Am keen to get float much more but am time poor. Some of the RAID guys can recommend some great spots to the South side of Sydney. The Hacking and South West arm are particularly popular with the group. Would love to see some footage of Kate Louise down there.
@@robstevens5503 Yep I haven't made it to Port Hacking yet, everyone raves about it, maybe soon Cheers Paul
Saw you on on your way home past Sunshine. Cool to watch the parade of RAID boats. I think we had better weather overnight.
Hi Khiem we also saw the mirror championships. How did you go? Did you stay upright when the squall hit? Cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise I was on shore duty, but the boys went out in Sea Lion. They did great in the big breeze. th-cam.com/video/nSgX8gu3y5I/w-d-xo.html
Your group are the trouble makers hmm? LoL Thank you Paul. It is cold wet and averaging zero C here.
You got that right! cheers Paul
That was a smashing video; what a great trip! Wish I was a few thousand miles closer so I could join in. (Just as an aside; Quiberon is pronounced Keybron, my home town in Cornwall is 'twinned' with the French town, but it's his boat and he can pronounce whatever bloody way he likes. Just pointed it out as a matter of interest:) Thanks for a great upload and greetings from South Africa.
Thanks again, cheers Paul
Thanks for the video Paul. Funny how it's all blokes eh?
Yes one day some female sailors will join us....I know they are out there, thanks for watching Andy, Cheers Paul
Gday Paul.
Mate I am really happy that I found your channel, I am in Port Stephens and have a 30 foot Austral (Altair) in Lake Mac. I spent a lot of time up the Myall in my younger days on the water and more recently camping , it is magic but as you have found , really changeable.I would love to sneak Altair into boolambayte but unfortunately she draws 1.78 and I would be bogged more than cruising haha.
Nice cinematography and the laid back feel says it all about being on the water , well a certain amount of that and the adrenaline rush other times ... Hope to catch up some time bro,
All the best , Gazza
Thanks Gazza for those kind words. Yes I also love Myall lakes and Kayaked up there for 5/6 years before I got Kate Louise. You could always get a dingy as well. Check out this Goat Island skiff a very good deal . See you on the water, Cheers Paul

@@SailingKateLouise Thanks mate, yeah that little boat looks pretty sweet, I am a bit spoiled and like yourself , I am used to a cabin so a cuddy cabin would be the shot, as I would definitely use her for overnighting, I will keep my eyes open for sure. Catch up on the water champ! Cheers Gazza
We could see you on Sunday morning, the classic boat assoc had a row from Rathmines out around Coal Point for morning tea then back to Rathmines for lunch. We were rowing back when the wind and rain came in before midday. I was thinking you'd have had an interesting day on Saturday.
Yep sure did, when is your open day/airshow this year, we must have a raid to Rathmines that day, Cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise The Classic Boat festival/open day was sunday the 6th, when you blokes were originally coming for the sand islands raid, not sure when the airshow is
Nice sail mate
Thanks Shane, thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
I am still trying to set up my own raid!! lol
Where are you?, cheers Paul
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching.....check out my other videos, cheers Paul
Hi can you show a picture of the inside of the Sabin please next time. I’ve yet to get my dingy. I sail with a friend on his scruffy with a seagull motor on the back but would like a 1/2 cabin for myself.
Hi Teresa just back from 4 days sailing up at Lake Macquarie. I don't think there were any Sabins....do you mean Stornaway? check out th-cam.com/video/J0mtzEvYU5s/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching , cheers Paul
This was great, thanks for sharing. Hope the rude fisherman did no spoil your day?
Well it was a rude surprise. I can only guess he wasn't having much luck! thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
That's an impressive fleet! And even more impressive cuisine. You've got some lovely B roll shots too. I guess you are all anchored pointing outwards because of the wind direction?
Hi Simon, yes we had the best group of boats so far, I hope even more join us, the more the merrier. As for the cuisine Marshall swears by Deb Potato which I thought was called 'Dead Potato'....so he had to show me. Marshall also gave me a packet, so stay tuned and I will give a completely impartial review when I'm next on a solo sail!!!. Yes the wind was head on and there was a bit of current there as it's the main channel to the ocean Thanks for watching again, Cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise Great promotion of RAID Sydney too - thanks for putting that in!
Our sailing trip...
Begins your day with flaky, golden croissants or warm baguettes, Spread on creamy butter and luxurious jams, A steaming cup of rich coffee completes this delightful tableau,
Delicate appetizers like a frisée salad with walnuts and goat cheese awaken your taste buds. The main course, a symphony of flavor, might showcase succulent roasted duckling in a cherry sauce, accompanied by perfectly roasted seasonal vegetables. And for the grand finale? Perhaps a decadent chocolate mousse, its richness a perfect counterpoint to the meal's savory notes.
As evening descends, imagine a lighter, yet flavorful feast. Seared scallops with a touch of lemon butter might be followed by an herb-roasted chicken with ratatouille, a vibrant medley of summer vegetables, savor a selection of artisanal cheeses, their unique flavors a delightful discovery. And no meal is complete without a perfect dessert - a delicate fruit tart or a decadent pot de crème might be the perfect ending to your culinary journey.
Behind every man(meal) there is a Dinghy somewhere...
Well, let us know when you want to join up for a great cruise!
Oh I've just had some toast for breekie and now I'm hungry again.....sounds delightful but tricky to cook on a single burner, but dreams are simple, cheers Paul
26 kts, yikes. The sand islands are magic.
Yep, we measured it and my electric outboard struggled, luckily it wasn't more than a couple of hundred metres to the end of the island and out of the wind, thanks for watching, Cheers Paul
Watching again, as it's one of my favorites. BUT... 5:19...Did you run into a birthday cake?
Ha ha Thanks Mike....no it was a seagull....actually blockout, I don't spend a lot of time on appearance but you probably know that, cheers Paul
I'd love to join you, but it's kind of a long sail from Wisconsin!
Yep sure is, stay safe and thanks for watching.....it will get warmer there soon, Cheers Paul
the wood motor always starts
Thanks rusty, cheers Paul
Must be great to sail with friends. I always sail solo 😢
Sailing in a group must add a little to the experience, having some thing in common.
What does the red/yellow flag represent? In Denmark it is the independance flag of the island Bornholm (wich is not independent) 🙂
Best regards from Denmark
Never mind about the flag - I found out 😂
Hi Bent, the flag is code R and as we are part of Sydney Raid sailing group we've adopted the R flag, cheers Paul
What , no vegimite sandwich ?
Paul in Canada
Not this time, cheers Paul
Why aren’t you all parked up close together?
Hi Jim....snoring, cheers Paul
You're getting a nice little flotilla together down there Paul. A really good selection of boats too. The squall looked a bit dodgy. Even with the sails down, does having the keel lifted make much difference to the stability of the boat?
Hi Dale, my Stornaway doesn't have a drop down keel just a 40cm skeg keel that's why I can't run her up on the beach. But she is very stable, but the electric outboard really struggled in that squall and could barely make any headway.
Thanks for watching again, Cheers Paul
Good work. As a keel boat sailor who’s been around world, I still enjoy the small boats. Condensed adventures and more fun in shorter time. Subscribed
Thanks Wag or is it Super? I can't afford a big boat but follow many ocean sailors on youtube do you have a channel ?Thanks for watching Cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise it’s Super. Big boats don’t cost too much if you are away travelling and not wasting coin at marinas. I never felt the need to monetise my travels on TH-cam. I made a few videos for family which never went on TH-cam.
Now I have small children and we are COVID stuck. We used to travel a lot. I’ve been to 75+ countries, my wife joined me to about 40 odd. First son born in Asia, second in Australia.
But I still love the small boats and the little adventures. More so now that I’ve cracked 40 years old. I have built a few small timber boats over the years. Plan is to build another soon.
Happy days and keep up the good work
@@superwag634 Thanks super! glad to hear you have an enviable lifestyle. Also glad you didn't monetise neither do I. I can't stand bloggers whose sole aim is to get money to fund their lifestyles and they are blatant about it. Cheers Paul
