Because if you were playing, you would've taken the bishop with the pawn, allowed Rf2+ and blundered your bishop on c2, then would've thought that this 900 is a genius for setting up this clever tactic. In reality, 900s blunder their pieces all the time in one way or another, you just don't see that.

Not only do 900s hang pieces regularly, but Mike only straight-up hung one piece (his queen) until his rook blunder in low time. Most 900-level games don't finish without at least one piece hung, so I see no reason why this performance by Mike should be considered sub-par for his rating.

The highest level of stockfish ofc. Being ~800 elo just tried it and it's ridiculously easy. I didn't watch the start of the video at first and thought this opponent was either trolling or first time playing chess.
@@NowhereMan7Just try it. Stockfish is an engine and doesn't know how to trick, especially when down material and it plays the best moves, so it sees all the threats and reacts to them accordingly even if you didn't see them. So it is extremly easy to trade all the pieces down and win.

I'm rated near 900 blitz and nobody actually plays like that. I know people in my rating are bad but nobody trades a bishop for a pawn... Or randomly lets knight take queen. Hard to believe this is real
Don’t flatter yourself. I am about 1500-1600 and regularly give away full pieces to non-GMs and my opponents luckily for me do the same. Also, don’t underestimate that it is easier to blunder when the position is tricky and Eric is trying to make the position exactly that.
He played more like a 4-500 I would say. Also he knew about the challenge so he could have sacrificed some pieces to remove all attacking potential in some positions

naaahhh no chance he's a 200. He played WAY better than I would and I AM a ~250 that's how I know lmao. I watch 5 min. games with ppl around 1000 and they still miss obvious things, blunder hard and fuck up bad. It usually snowballs and It definitely happens. With more time my guess is he doesn't fuck it up. I doubt it was this guy's best game but I doubt he lost on purpose. Could be wrong tho obviously can't see inside his head. 🤷♂️
