1600 is pretty good at chess for a normal person bro I'm only 1150 but slowly going up I just want to reach 1500. Its funny though when I was 700 1000 rated players seemed boss but now when I play most 1000s I think they're trash, it's a funny game chess. but Eric's a monster of a player me and you combined most likely couldn't beat him lol unless he gave us stoned as fuck odds and maybe not even then hahaha

I usually don't find rule variations very interesting, but I think this rule was really cool to watch because of the limited shelf life some pieces get.
I'm pretty sure there were a lot of games where the winner hadn't move backwards, even at high level. Off the top of my head such games are Morphy vs those two amateurs and also Reti - Tartakower, 1910

It's amazing how these guys can toy with a player who probably beats 98% of the population at chess. It's absurd how easily he got this done despite the tough constraints.
Because when you play you just play standard and put zero pressure on your opponent, of course they won't just topple over even if they are 1100s. GMs put their opponents in difficult positions and that is why their opponents blunder.
Bro I feel you completely. Eric, while playing handicap, completely dominates a 1600 casually. They make all sorts of obvious blunders. When I play a 1400, engine moves for days. Like I know Eric is next level but it's crazy how seamless he makes it look.
when an average player like (1500) plays against 1600 players, they barely commit any blunders but when they face such the likes of Eric with odds of cannot move backwards they simply throw away pieces after pieces like a newbie player
@SaltySeagull it's checkmate on board because that's the standard rules of chess, but if the board was modified to accommodate Eric's restriction, then it's not checkmate because the Knight is not controlling that square and the queen can be captured by the King.
@SaltySeagull the way I see it, it's pinned because if you were to move it (illegal I know) you lose your king. Hypothetically, if you were capture the piece that's being protected by the pinned piece, you lose your king first. The way Eric checkmated his opponent works on the standard board with standard rules, but if you made a variant where moving backwards is not a legal move, then the final position is not mate.

In rapid on lichess I’m 2200, but I haven’t played on that in a long time, because I’ve recently started playing rapid on chess.com and I just got to 2000.

Oops, the Queen's not trapped, he can take on D4 sorry. If white tries to capture the Queen: P-C4, Q-D4, N-C3, Q-G4, N-H2, Q-H3, Q-F5, but then N-E3(double check!) and K-G1 would be #Q-G2, and K-E2 would drop the rook with Q-H1, so it's still anybody's game.
