I like how Brent will acknowledge if he makes a mistake ( we can be sure that he won't make it a second time), and the young players from last are well and truly Smitty built. I hope that will lead to fewer injuries. I can't wait to see this years OU team.

Freeman is a mini stoops, or they both are similar to a Wes Welker type in function and ability. I am speaking of College and Pro, don't let size or height drive your decisions alone. Some guys just have that "IT" factor. They both have it. Looking for great things from both going forward, college and Pro. The NFL needs to give Stoops an opportunity. he will shine if used right, and gets a repour with his QB. I hope one day He will coach.

I agree. The fans were right. But I think what hurt Spencer was his attitude off the field. He was very cocky and stuck on himself. Just like after a home game kids would wait out side the locker room for pictures and autographs, all of the players were very friendly with the fans and kids for pictures and autographs except Spencer , he came out the locker with one or two guys beside him in suites and ties , it almost looked like he had secret service around him and you could tell he didn’t want to be bothered. His attitude around campus hurt him. He needed to be humbled. And I think he has humbled himself since being at SC. I hope he has. Cause the kid is a freak athlete. But I agree also it was embarrassing our fans booing our own qb but I understand why they did also.

Yes it is but we also didn’t know how big of a shift we were having and we are fine with it. If we have to go 6-7 every year to get our culture right I’m fine with it.

@Shane4643 if we had tons of players, why was the defense gased 2nd half. Saban didn't have a great season his first head coaches job. Most coaches take 3 yrs to build their team and players learn new defense scheme. On second thought we had defensive players but lacked skill set.

Yea they made a mistake not playing Booty or Evers instead of Beville. If someone says Beville was their best option I strongly disagree. Did OU have a whole stable of QB'S that weren't developed or did staff have issue with player evaluation. My guess is they didn't want someone that might be better than DG to avoid a QB controversy because Lebby is loyal to DG. Dg will not be any better this year. If you look at his stats starring with his 2 years at UCF he had gotten worse every year so will that pattern continue??? I think so.

Venables was gifted the #8 class in the country by the time Riley left so let's not pretend he was starting out the 50's or 60's and working his way up. It's also a well known fact that LR opened up a lot of connections to schools and areas that were previously shut to OU so if anything, BV has him to thank for such a good class. By the way if Venables was recruiting so well, where are the hordes of 4 and 5 star DL that are signing with OU? The truth is they're still recruiting like Stoops and Riley did--full of good LB's, DB's and some edge rushers but the elite DT's that are needed to compete with the big boys are not coming. #HicksToNorman ring a bell? Heck the one 4-star DL he pulled in ended up leaving the program after the spring which tells you all about what a wasteland Norman has become. Grinch produced two of OU's 3 best defenses in the 2010's which really is a miracle considering he followed the defensive savant Mike Stoops who was brought in after BV was run out of town for getting embarrassed on national TV by the likes of Baylor and Oklahoma State. Also, not only did Oklahoma fail to win an outright conference title 4 years in a row, OU's recruiting average had dipped into the mid-teens the 4 years leading up to Riley's arrival as OC. That's on Stoops, Venables and the other Stoops and it took 'Muleshoe' to get them back to respectability. Everyone knows without LR, OU would be just another 8-5 program.
Riley struggles against less talented more disciplined teams like isu ksu and utah and big 10 has several teams similar to that until he gets different defense guy they will be the usual 10 and 3. Which is good but not great. Guess we will see
