Places that give a feeling of home and old world charm don't mean anything to people and it's really sad to see. That glass tower is imposing and uncanny. Seaport village was charming and paid homage to San Diego's roots as a fishing town.

Seaport Village is one of those rare developments that actually looked and felt like San Diego. I worked there on two different occasions in the 80's. Probably could use a facelift/enrichment but not everything has to be a bloody glass tower! I do like the aquarium idea tho!

The seaport is a prime peace of underutilized water front real estate located next to bustling downtown San Diego. I am in support of the seaport area being revamped for many reasons some of which It will bring money into the city and interesting activities for residents and tourists. In my opinion it's time San Diego is developed into a world class city to rival those like Miami and San Francisco. The seaport upgrade is a good start considering we are a coastal, beach city with the best weather in the country.

No way that's only costing $3.5 Billion.
Terminal 1's redevelopment at SAN is going to cost $3.4 Billion.

This is a terrible idea. It is being presented as a redevelopment but its the opposite, its a complete removal of Seaport Village as we know it. You will not find a spot like Seaport Village anywhere else because of its exact uniqueness and charm and yet they're tearing down the very thing that has made the Village touristic and popular for 35+ years. If the wealthy San Diegan politicians really cared about revamping something they woud fix what's broken, which is by creating more homeless shelters and removing permanent homeless street encampments around downtown and Seaport. Instead they're fixing what's not broken. Wake up San Diegans and save the old charm and history of your city or it will turn into a concrete jungle soon enough.

6 years in the making and if things go well they will break ground in 2025. San Diego moves at 0.25 speed

Definitely time to reimagine that area. Disney imagineer’s designed the original Seaport Village but it’s outdated, bland and empty now. Saw some better renderings out there and looks amazing! Hopeful it gets done but it took 30 years to get the old Navy headquarters rebuilt and new buildings.

The proposed design of the tower is HORRIBLE and out of place for the area! Definitely NOT "iconic"!

I’m all for creating a more pedestrian-friendly and welcoming area by the water, and of course adding value with educational and receptive services; but why that out-of-context tower? It besmirched the skyline while simultaneously being boring. San Diego sucks hard at highrise architecture… 😞

It's happening all over the country. The developer get all this money and then get the local to contribute taxpayer monies. Our focus need to be on the citzens of our country first. Great paying jobs, affordable homes to purchase great health system. We as Americans work so much to in attempt to enjoy our lives.
It sounds nice but who's really going to win , the developers.

The people and the tourists. If people wanted more hotels, high rise buildings and wacky aquariums they would book a flight to Dubai or anywhere else. There isn't a spot like Seaport Village anywhere and yet they're tearing down something that is unique as it is and doesn't need fixing. Everything goes back to money power and land control.
