    As someone who got into MTG this summer and quickly discovered commander formats were my favorite, I’ve absolutely loved everything that’s come out this second half of the year and even the last sets going back to Kaldheim. Such an amazing game I’m so happy me and my friends decided to try

    Relic of Legends was one of my favorites to come out, probably. As you mentioned, it’s fairly playable in a non-legends deck, although in EDH there tends to be a lot of legends floating around in the 99 anyway, so this could be well-worth 3 mana in most decks that need it. But in a legends matter deck this is easily one of the best mana rocks you could run.

    Been loving deciple of calas nin in my Livio + Rogger deck (rogger only so I can play zirda). Play deciple, exil it with livio before your next turn and return it at your end step.

    100% agreed on farewell. It's so good at doing what I want a boardwipe for: solving any problem on board. I'll try to think up ways to protect what I'm doing on board, and it always gets to "very solid, but farewell will still solve it." I really hope it gets consistent meaningful reprints.

    I always viewed counterspells as " Destroy target spell on the stack." Also good list, that Iron Throne card is going right into my Dargo // Tevesh Commander Storm deck (Not infinite, to easy to do that)

    4:53 I disagree that Hulking Metamorph is better than Phyrexian Metamorph. Aside from the fact that Phyrexian Metamorph can be cast for 3 + two life (requiring 1 whole mana less and no blue pips), it can enter as a copy of any artifact or creature on the battlefield, not just your stuff. Sure, the Hulking Metamorph has the bonus of always being an artifact creature with a viable body no matter what you copy-- but this can be a con, as having two card types opens you up to more removal. Plus, keeping HM's power becomes a bad thing if you're copying a creature that's bigger.
    Still a damn good, and underrated, clone.
    Love the content!

    I love Elixer of Immortality because it can stop you from losing due to running out of cards in the library. It's a niche situation I know, if you have no cards in your deck you should either be about to win or you've lost, but it feels good to know that it has that extra layer of safety. Campfire exileing itself after one use just feels bad.

    There were a lot of great cards in the Warhammer set, but my personal favorite was *Out of the Tombs* for how much consistency it adds to my Ghen deck.

  • @davecollins7420
    @davecollins7420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Campfire versus elixir of immortality: campfire exiles while elixir shuffles itself in so it can keep you from decking yourself. In a deck, where you can deck yourself, you probably have a low life total in the five life will help.
    Plaza of Heroes: Please note all Planeswalkers are now legendary, so all the other abilities will work if your commander is a planeswalker except for the last. It will work for any other legendary creature in the 99 though.

    I'd have to try out Wild Magic surge, cause at the moment, destroying an opponent's enchantment only for them to get another enchantment doesn't sound good. Unless they have no other enchantments in the deck, I can only see this backfiring.
    For creatures, lands, and artifacts this sounds better but for mono red answers for enchantments, thats a hard sell for me.

    People are playing Elixir of Immortality over Campfire because it shuffle itself aswell into the deck where Campfire exile itself, this leads to loops where Elixir helps you go through your whole deck multiple times

  • @OldWitchDoctor
    @OldWitchDoctor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wild magic surge is rad because it says destroy, chaos warp doesn't. Sure, your opponent will get a replacement, but if you're yeeting their Urborg and they get a swamp, I'm cool with that, or if you yeet their winter orb and they get a mana rock, that's cool too. Sure, it's not as good as some black removal, and it can backfire, but in mono-red and maybe even red-blue and red-green I think it can see a fair bit of play.
    Red doesn't really have any "destroy" spells that work in such a general manner, it's usually either artifacts or lands, and creature removal usually comes down to direct damage which doesn't always work if the creature gets big enough. Hell, destorying any permanent isn't super common as is and a lot of those cards are either multicolored and/or give your opponent some kind of replacement. A lot of permanent removal also exclude lands, and with all the bonkers lands in the format some land removal is probably smart in most decks.

    If you really want the toxicrene effect just run world tree, crop rotation, Sylvan scrying, even chromatic lantern

    It having reach and death touch helps it a lot tho

    - Loran of the Third Path was very underrated when it was released bought it for pennies now it is $3.99USD
    - I like that all the ''Protoype'' creatures can be blinked to return as the final version
    - I don't get the art on Archivist of Oghma, are they missing an appendage?
    - Plaza of Heroes, hmm weird I am not using this in my Dihada Legendary tribal
    - The ''Channel'' lands are crazy :P

    A small thing, Vexilus praetor is great in a voltron deck, specifically Haktos, i wasn't planing on targeting him with anything, so he is pretty good there.
    EDIT: Also, i love campfire for beledros, the life gain can help offset the commander a bit, and being able to recast him without tax is useful, since he is so damn expensive.
    I agree that wildmagic surge is pretty underrated, it's also important to note that since you don't shuffle before revealing cards you can setup polimorph like effects which is pretty nice, i run it in my tovolar deck, and a couple of times i have found my self doing temple see something cool with the scry and then just wildsurging it in, it's fringe and rare, but it's there

  • @DCII

    Yes, I very much wish I had more than just the one Campfire. I currently have 15 decks and I'm running the only one I have in my Muxus deck, which coincidentally also has one of the two Elixir of Immortally I have. Of all of my decks I think there's only one where I absolutely would not run this card and that's, also coincidentally, an artifact deck (Jhoria w/Lab man/Thoricle win cons). Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually sure how many decks I'd actually end up shoehorning this into, but if I owned them I'd definitely be trying.

    It blows my mind just how against an offer you can't refuse some people are. I pulled it from, I think a prerelease pack, back when I randomly bought one. I instantly fell in love with it and honestly argue that I think it's better than swan song. I truly think an offer might be top 3 counter spells in the format

    • @Tvboy777
      @Tvboy777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's great, but it does have issues. Against a counter spell heavy deck it gives them the mana to cast another counterspell on the spell you're trying to resolve. I do think it's a staple though, great budget replacement for swan song.

    • @herra16
      @herra16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tvboy777 the resolution of ‘an offer you cant refuse’ is what creates the treasure tokens though.

  • @matthewhalsan6459
    @matthewhalsan6459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The best part about 'an offer you can't refuse' is trying to sound like a mob guy every time you counter a spell with it. At least I always do that.

  • @shadewrecker9683
    @shadewrecker9683 ปีที่แล้ว

    offer you can't refuse is so cracked, 1 mana is so easy to leave up and its so inexpensive for a negate with no strings attached. 2 treasures are nothing when in commander you'll be using it to save your butt from all the most terrifying sorceries and artifacts and enchantments that already costed 5+ mana. it also helps that its also only 2$ or so unlike the forces, fierce guardianship, pact of negation, and swan song which are much more expensive. def one of my favorites and is in all of my blue decks

      if we talk about non cedh you can prioritise how you like, demo eg. puts removal on higher spots others would put ramp or combos there.
      means its a little of personal choice^^.
      but we can agree on some points like that farewell is by far the best mass removal in game (yet).
      btw oh man that card was an instant bann on my tables (group decision) cause our powerlvl cant recover well with that powerhouse card.
      otherwise we have to look at cedh standards: manacost, interactivity, tempo, effect => instantspeed, low mana, difficult interaction and strongeffects allways far up to every other thing (and on some tables they also have on top shutdowns and slow enermie progress). So if your not blue (or cant shut down thassa combo), your not high cedh xD

    I have decided to give you my secret rograhk and thrasios cedh brew. Magda, Goldspan Dragon, dockside extortionist, skullwinder, signal the clans, jeska’s will, dualcaster mage, kinnan, Barrin Master Wizard, Ghostly flicker, Twinflame, Meria, Tireless provisioner, etherium sculptor, equilibrium, Battered golem, seedborn muse, eternal witness, defiler of dreams, shrieking drake, Baral’s expertise, prosperous innkeeper, relic of legends, goblin engineer, tamiyo collector of tales, displacer kitten, cryptolith rite, displace, the reality chip, douse, gilded drake, Jaheria, fury storm, guild artisan, goblin matron, sanctum weaver, consuming tide, muddle the mixture, replication technique, goblin welder, hullbreaker horror, crafty cutpurse, academy manufactor, guided passage, static orb, winter orb, sublime epiphany, urza lord high artificer, adrix and Nev twincasters, paradoxical outcome, Mox amber, nyxbloom ancient, bloom tender, lifeforce, drafna founder of lat nam, ghostly pilferer, mana crypt, sol ring, galazeth prismari, imperial recruiter, threats undetected, lonis Cryptozoologist, voldaren epicure, intuition, cloudstone curio, sensei’s divining top. + 32 lands and Rograhk and thrasios in command zone. It’s something that’s definitely typically a little slower out the gate but that’s kinda an advantage as people will underestimate your true threat potential. It also has t1 play lines. Blood moon doesn’t impact it as bad because you generate so much non land mana and you have so much red to cast anyway. Always having rograhk as a combo piece and always having Thrasios as a combo mana sink is actually one of the best stax compliments ever. Also the fact you are dropping rograhk turn 1 every game is nice. Drafna is mostly in there for extra Winter and static orb interaction to help break parody. Also there are obviously a few changes you could make to slightly optimize different faucets. But I think the way I present it above is the best cedh version. Maybe cut a land for lotus petal. But I haven’t tested yet. There is so much combo potential in this decklist that it’s metrically insane. Shrieking drake and Defiler of dreams is as close to ad Naus that my color pie will ever get. Sublime epiphany isn’t just a counterspell, it’s a potential infinite combo engine
