The peak of world football if u ask me probably 2012. When u think about it the talent across all tye nations and leagues was staggering which is why euro 2012 was my fav tournament. The quality's really gone down since.Spain,Germany,Holland,Uruguay, Brazil,Italy all shadows of their former selves. To the point where its such a level playing field that in this wc it became common for the likes of Morocco croatia,Cameroon,Japan,Tunisia, Saudi Arabia to beat Argentina Brazil,Germany, and spain

@jeff kennedy Well on paper I'd say the only squad that's improved is portugal. Argentina and France I think in terms of talent is about the same as 10 years ago. Actually in argentinas case its gone down . Difference is though they're better organised . In Frances case it was the ego of the players that caused disorganisation. In argentinas case it was their defending strategy which for years was atrocious but was pretty solid this wc even though they did concede a few. Brazils about the same I feel. The 2014 squad up until the infamous semi final hammering played really well in the wc. And I put croatia in with that list of other teams for 2 reasons. One is because they're an underdog nation and two is because besides the Canada game, they really didn't play that well.

Why I love Uruguay that year? everytime they play it's always entertaining. They go toe to toe with the opponents and it's always exciting to watch. No fear,most teams sit back and defend and play slowly while facing teams like Germany or Netherlands but not Uruguay. Forlan was the heart and brain of that Uruguayan team.

2010 world cup was my first WC, i dont know about this Nation but at that time i admire this Forlan and after few years even he retire from football i know him lately and even know about football. I really regret of missing to watch his play.

Perhaps the best third place world cup match in a very long time. Germany was the most exciting and impressive team in the 2010 world cup and much respect to that Uruguay team.

People seem to forget that teams are much more relaxed and daring in a bronze medal match than in the final. That's why you can always count on bronze medal matches being a great spectacle.

everyone forgets how good muller did in 2010. scored 5 goals tied 1st along with sneijder forlan and villa but had the most assists so got the golden boot. he was also 20 which gave him the best young player award. btw im american and root for germany.strange right

The 2014 team would have never succumbed to 2010 Spain like they did. I know Müller was missing and Low made tactical errors but for me the 2014 team was better. But I did love this team, too. It's probably my 3rd favourite German team of all-times 1972 and 2014 being the first 2.

As a Dutchman I can say that this match was way intense then the final. Not because that we lost but Spain and the Netherlands were playing for something and Germany and Uruguay just for third place. You have to imagine how much pressure those 2 put on. everything was in their hands because they both had never won anything.
I really want to see a final again with these 2 nations, it would be so spectacular

It all depends on the teams and their style. One thing is for sure, Bronze medal matches are usually the most exciting. Why? Both teams are already eliminated, but they're willing to be more daring to earn that bronze medal.
No I've seen bronze medal games that are boring as hell. Maybe I chose the wrong video to say my comment on but soccer games like 4-6 years ago were very exciting to watch whereas now its like teams have run out of ideas on how to attack/play the game and all we see is players just passing in the midfield. No one is willing to take a risk and go forward. I know you have to pick your moments but at the same time I see passing way too much these days. Even the Euro's this year was boring as hell. The most exciting game was probably Portugal and Hungary lol
