Actually the funniest part would be that he had that 38sec video made years ago to post when someone thought they were the new King of Kugane.

Emoticon not only just strolls through, claims it again and the finishes it with the true last step..the Vista landing....he is a God.
You have to consider that this guy originally broke speedrun records on an n64 controller, one of the clunkiest controllers to ever exist. Achieving the same level of precision on a PS controller is child's play by comparison.
@@UTO7 debatable, while it may be clunky for casual play, the divets in the n64 controllers are probably really useful for lining yourself up in regards to speedruns.

As I probably said in the original video, the tower climb isn't bad. It's having to redo the entire climb if you mess up the jump down to the lamp post that's annoying.
It is still very impressive to hold a record as someone who isn't a pro speed runner even for a day.
Honestly congrats to both of them - Pint for making such a well edited video and to Em0_oticon for reclaiming their speedrun title shortly after (even managed to land perfectly at the lightpost below).
Imagine if he had to retake after failing to land on the lightpost

My favorite part about Asmongold's react videos is that I get to watch Pint's original videos for a second time.
I literally watched pints video and then immediately watched asmons lol
So about that lamp post jump:
There's a pretty reliable strategy where you line yourself up with a roof line and jump right where the other roof features end. He uhhhh.... didn't do that. He choose an angle that I'd never have the guts to duplicate just to shave like .2 seconds. That's not a flex. That's adding the lamp post to the speedrun.
Pretty sure he stopped the timer before doing the last jump though

I said this in Pint's video and I will say it again here: I'm pretty sure this will spark a lot of competition for speedruns of Kugane Tower. Not sure for how long, but it will have some runners.

Pint's video would've inspired competition. Em0_oticon's video.... it's gonna take a special level of confidence to believe you can do better. Should still get a category.
Entry barrier seems too high for none ff14 players won't see much competition.
@@54321eclipse12345 You'd think that. FF14 devs have a habit of doing things just because, "Why Not?". With the things they've done in the past there is a world where they edit the tower for a button to button timed run for all the jump puzzles for achievements. This is the dev team that continually develops an entire class that cannot be used for half of the content and class quests for it just because it's fun. There are so many stupidly pointless "Why not" parts of FF14 that took real dev time to implement.

When Pint broke the record after days and weeks and months he devoted to conquering this once thought unconquerable mountain. Well Pint won! He forced a retired FFXIV player to re-install the game and run the tower again. He literally trolled a speed runner into coming out of retirement. That's dedication!

Impossible, he had endwalker and reaper leveled. I refuse to believe he learned the best strats that even pint didn't find in months, bought, endwalker, bought a leveling skip for reaper and proceeded to break the whole record in an afternoon. Plus he got that cat suit.

I somewhat suspect Emo actually has proof of beating most of his old records just waiting for someone to break his previous ones just so he can dunk on them instantly. It's like that guy who bred the Carolina Reaper. They asked him how he bred a pepper that hot and he's just like, "Oh, I've got about five hotter ones. Just waiting for someone to come at me."
Nah, if you look, he used Pint's new strategies (except for ledge dash).. The man saw new strats were used to beat his record, adopted said strats and ran it again.
The controller actually gives an advantage for the jumping puzzles. It's much easier to do jumps of varying lengths with the analog stick. The only time I beat the tower was by using one.
He not only beat him by 5 secs, he landed perfectly on the centre of the lamp-post as a middle finger xD
Pint GG did a terrific job story telling that whole thing. Excellent production quality.

My man saw the bullshit techs Pint was using and decided "Oh, I guess I'll just one-up him by adding DRG's Elusive Jump into the mix, and also just doing it faster"
Which for those of you who don't know what the fuck that means: it's a decently long dash that sends you backwards, which would naturally make it kinda clunky to use in a speedrun setting.
I think that's Pint's best video yet.

This video by Pint was great on so many levels and also with all the time involved to achieve it. Even had rivalry. Just awesome. And then even crazier Emo dude came back after the 5 year hiatus only to shatter it barely 1 day after Pint broke it 😆😂. That was like speechless. Asmon had the greatest reaction at the end. I think Pint needs to do a follow up video to this because this was just great content.

In this case hard work and harder work. The guy has been speed running for over a decade. That is not talent, that is several orders of magnitude more work than Pint has put into his own speedrun.
