A number of years ago I purchased an 1885 Patek Philippe pocket watch for an "affordable price". Ever since, I've been enamored by the brand. The quality is certainly unmatched and worth more than the price paid. I recently told an older gentleman who sits in front of me in church of the watch. Don't think he believed me until I showed up the next week with it. He couldn't believe the weight of it in his hand. After the service, he made a special effort to give me a firm handshake and a toothy grin. It is amazing the respect this little time-only gem generated. These pocket watches are definitely great value. However, I thought you had to buy a new Patek Philippe from a store to qualify for a subscription to the magazine. Does it work a second hand wristwatch too ? How do you subscribe?
Any owner of a Patek Philippe watch, old or new can subscribe to the Patek Philippe Magazine. You will need to register your watch through the Patek Philippe website and then you will automatically receive the magazine. You will need to give the movement and case numbers of the watch which will be on the Certificate of Origin or Extract from the Archives. If you do not have these documents, a watchmaker can open the watch and give you the movement and case number details.
