About:
Today we are breaking down The latest Red Sox Roster Moves, that is a VERY SURPRISING Roster move involving Chris Martin and Cooper Criswell, the latest Injury news on Red Sox TOP pitching Prospect Luis Perales. This is a MAJOR injury for the Red Sox, both for the 2024 Red Sox and For the FUTURE Of the Red Sox. We also breakdown how all of this could and will impact the 2024 Boston Red Sox.
Cooper Criswell exceeded expectations - credit to Breslow. The kid really performed well when needed.
Thanks for clearing up the Criswell demotion. Winckowski is better than either Anderson or Keller. I would DFA both. Isaiah Campbell has pitched outstanding at AAA and is ready for the Sox. His ERA was inflated because in his last couple of Sox appearances, he tried to pitch through his injury and got lit up. He's better now. Mata will also be ready soon for long relief.
I think both are going to be DFAd soon here they just want to take advantage of these guys before they leave them

😊Bello not very good
Surprised Criswell is the one headed down. Bello transparently needs some time to get his shit together, and a brief break down in triple A mighta given him a perfect opportunity to do that. Maybe the sox think that since it’s a pretty soft schedule ahead that’ll be just as good? Idk.
No I think he’s gonna need to figure it out at the big league
Sadly, they’re paying too much to even consider him working on this in the minors. I watched him in person during his rehab start in Portland and while everyone expected him to be great…he wasn’t. He didn’t make it past the second or third inning. Even though he struck out a couple guys, you could tell he wasn’t himself and was getting rocked. Most of the wins he has is because the offense has come through for him and bailed him out.
I wouldn’t have as much a problem with his pitching if he took it like a champ and seriously work on his stuff instead of flipping out like a baby when things don’t go his way. Granted, that only happened once that I know of. Hopefully Cora got after him about it and told him to cut the crap.
@@soundhead18yes that's an adjustment most major leaguers have encountered. How to slow it down and take care of attention when things start to go bad. Baseball is a game of luck and skill. You just have to recognize that and keep your head in the game.
i have felt that bello got the big money pretty early in his tenure with the team. i think they could have waited to see what they had, but they seem hellbent on signing the younger guys. bello has had quite a few good flashes (the near no-hitter that kike jacked up last season), however he also has had quite a few bad outings.
they won't send him down because bello seems to have a lot of personality, and i think it would be such a blow to his confidence (ala duran) that it could spiral his growth for a while. he needs to figure it out, and i think andrew bailey will get him there.
shocked that criswell went down...and that seems to really be a move that boggles my mind. i think they should have sent valdez down...
Dude he has a contract, unless its a rehab assignment, minor league isnt an option
Could you note the chances of players coming back as they were after Tommy John surgery? RIP the greatest all around player: Willie Mays
A lot of guys actually come back a bit better as they are able to throw a bit harder
It’s so dumb criswell has been helping this team way better than bello imo
So bummed about Pereles. Good thing I'm still on a Celtics banner 18 high!
True!
Do we know if the audit that Breslow called for includes strength and conditioning/trainers and training/medical department or is it purely baseball ops?
Criswell has been doing pretty well just like u said out of everyone I would’ve brought down Anderson or Booser but let’s hope he comes back soon
Anderson you would have to DFA
Agreed
I'm really surprised that Perales injury. Watching him pitch with moderate effort but a quick arm but maybe that's what's causing these injuries. He starts moderately and accelerates through the pitch so much so that he loses balance at the finish and falls off to the first base side. Everything is 3/4 so technically it shouldn't have been an issue. It's not like he has Chris Sale mechanics. Too bad because he changed some of his mechanics to get more control over his off speed stuff with success.
Not sure on Criswell going down. I hope it works as planned for the Sox and Criswell. Hope tobsee him back soon!!
Criswell has been really good for the team- I would’ve liked to see Anderson or Keller go instead.
Tough decision, seems like a great time to keep 5 giving extra days rest since most have not pitched a full season. So optioning/ DFA Keller perhaps could have worked
Yeah that absolutely could have worked but they also in 15 days could bring up Cooper DFA Keller and give everyone an extra day off going into a more strenuous stretch
Really great point
Looking at the current roster I was thinking what GM brought these players to Boston? IMHO that would be interesting.
Corbin, we need the pitchers we have healthy. Prospect injuries aren't a setback.
I disagree. Corbin reports minor league ups and downs which matters to many fans.
Could Cooper Criswell demotion mean that the Red Sox are on the verge of adding a starting pitcher? The Red Sox also have several major league ready relievers in AAA could that mean that either Jansen or Martin are on their way out?
Thanks Corbin! Logical Criswell sent down. Great that Martin has returned.
Redsox pitchers available on 40 man roster call ups: Criswell, Campbell, Winckowski, Uwasawa, Mata soon and Hendricks eventually. Maybe Gonzalez or Horn help out.
Yeah they have a lot of options going forward I would expect someone but criswell up in the next couple of days to cover that bullpen game
I know there are a few non roster guys that available on an emergency basis. If management doesn't trade away key pieces there's reason to be optimistic. Could you do video on improved pitching depth?????
I'm very glad Martin is back and doing better however Criswell being sent down doesn't seem like a good idea. You made good points however Keller and Anderson don't really have an important role on the team and I don't love the idea of having bullpen games those are almost always losses but we'll see if it works out!
Good news is it will be MAYBE one bullpen game
Criswell needs a break. He looked gassed last time out. A lot of Boston's starters haven't pitched ++ innings. Think of it like an early all-star break.
Bello needs to go back to Worcester for a while
I was surprised that Criswell was sent down. At a time when we needed to relax a bit on the innings workload of the starting pitchers. If they had to send someone down I would have sent Bello myself. Might do him some good. Criswell is the better pitcher right now. Sorry but I am not in favor of demoting him.
I think the Sox almost have to go pitcher in the draft now. I've been looking at a lot of the prospects, and there should be some solid options available at 12.
They could I’m in the camp of just taking the best player available in the first round then getting specific after
@@redseatradio I mean I do agree with taking the best player. Guess i'm just getting nervous about the pitching depth in the system again after this injury. I really like the high school lefty and the pitcher from East Carolina in that spot. Forgive me for forgetting their names lol
The Red Sox also have Brandon Walter out for the Season. so that is 2 spots taken by injured minor league pitchers. I could see them putting Walker on the Major League 60 day lady because they will want more control over Peralis. What will be interesting is the Red Sox now have at least 5 pitchers who will not be ready for the start of 2025, Walter, Pearlis, Murphy, Giolito and Witlock. What does that do to the 40 man roster over the winter. Does everyone have to be removed from the disabled list or can they keep them on the list if they definitely will not be able to start the season?
They also have about 8 players who could be added to the 40 man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft.
There is one more possibility. This is a conjecture, of course. They may be in the process of acquiring another picture and want to open up a roster spot. They had other options. They could have designated Smith, for example.I think they are getting ready for a trade and have enough information to start preparing. The other option is that they want to bring Josh Winchowski up because he made the adjustments they asked. I think the reasons will begin to develop over the next few days.
Designating Smith really made no sense especially taking out a pitcher from this lineup. I don’t believe that they are in the process of doing so or they would have just outright DFAd someone
Boston has had a lot of luck this year...too bad most of it has been bad luck. This elbow issue isn't going away in baseball unless there is a serious physical - medical technology change. Diet and specific conditioning and a little synthetic biology applied.
Tonight at 7!!!
TONIGHT AT 7
For a rookie, he has been excellent, not just good. Criswell has been better than Bello rookie year.
no se que lo que pasa con los brasos de los red sox que lo están operando mucho. Y eso de bajar chriswell no estas bn
No sé Criswell ha sido bueno este año
Perales seems to be heading down the same path as Brian Mata. Burn up options before making it to the show.
I would be willing to DFA either Anderson or Keller to see if Mata can be productive this year and hopefully have a full reset in the off season.
Yeah mata has been pitching well in the minors on his rehab that decision is coming soon
TJ sooner that later is better. Calm.
I’d rather have seen Bello sent down. He’s struggling mightily & could use the time in AAA to get his groove back.
Keller and Anderson in the big leagues and Josh and cooper in the minors ? I’m going to just say I don’t get and that’s fine…but after the Rodriquez over Bernie 😩that clearly was a mistake the craftiness theory of these decisions can be a hard sell.
That’s fair enough but I think this is a bit of a different situation than joely over Bernie
@@redseatradiojust as an athlete to have players ahead of you that are clearly not as good as you is hard on the psyche ..I like Winc and cooper a lot so tough.
Keller and Anderson are out of options I believe, so Criswell was the guy. He will be back when a 5th starter is needed
joely was terrible...bernadino has been rock solid since he got here last season. never understood what they saw in joely.
@@patrickreeves4650 Cora sitting cedanne today ? Of course he’s on fire 🔥 so let’s sit him …Cora always does this in these situations drives me nuts 🥜
Place when draf 2024
Send Keller down. Sadly, we can’t keep everyone up.
Keller you would have to DFA
time to dfa keller. no confidence in him.
@@redseatradio that sucks
Yeah bello better have a good outing if not send him back down to regain his confidence
Does anyone at the minor league level get excited by strikeouts??? Watching all the highlights you show, I don’t think I saw a single fan clap after a strikeout (or a strike for that matter)
Lmao not sure
