Hey Dave, yea that Maverick truck was a trainer truck carrying glass. We use the raised roof Cascadia for training and mid roofs Cascadia when your solo. Love your videos, keep them coming!

@@combatarmsjesus9102 you have to be 21 to cross state lines but you can try Pepsi or something like that local to get some experience and then hit OTR when you turn 21.

In that situation with the dual 10 hour breaks, DONT be afraid to decline the load for safety reasons or bc ur too tired. If you tell them your to tired to drive they are legally not allowed to make u continue driving. Decline the loads
I hear ya brother I been goin 14 hr nights for a few weeks straight and I'm beat and I don't want to pass out behind the wheel I'm new at this company and I don't think the owner liked my response but I not risking my life and others
@@alichevez2224 always save those conversations there are some assholes that are gonna try to kill you and make a buck and blame you when it happens. save the emails. screenshots take phone pictures record phone calls ect. you did the right thing man and if they fire you got solid proof that the next company is hiring a safe and responsible driver.
Hey Dave! I'm a rookie myself been solo for a month now running pretty much east side of us, i live in NC so I usually go to Louisiana then the Ohio or Illinois then home, been hoping to cross paths with you out of the road! Everytime I pass a red cfi kenworth im lookin lol!

That Loves has been there for 30 years or more. It was there back in the 90s when I was still OTR. I live in Des Moines.

To answer your question, the truck stop typically franchises the restaurant or fast food location as their own franchise deal so that truck stop location 9 times out of 10 actually owns that restarting location as well so all the money from both sides is theirs

This is interesting because I am actually a cfi truck driver. We switch to love's about 8 months ago i like it much better. Iv been with for 3 years and I promise you that loves I've been to several times has more than Dennys, i had a lot lizard wake me up at 4am i was pissed.
Nice road trip..glad you made it clear across Minnesota to Iowa safely. Welcome to the pros & cons of the trucking world...hurry up and then wait to load / unload....and the many grief of dispatch. But ya know as a W-4 company driver with any one you get forced dispatch vs Owner / operator leased on or using broker boards..pick and choose your dispatch...no forced dispatch. So my Dave...have fun learning everything and maybe you will want to be an owner operator and work as hard as you want, or not. Keep on trucking...,:))
In most cases the truck stop owns/operates the restaurant. Loves is a franchisee of Wendy's usually but can sign franchisee agreements with other companies as well. I'm short, Loves owns it so they get all the revenue from the food, but then pays the restaurant chain a percentage (usually around 5-10%)

I use to work the warehouse at window world western mass, truck drivers and I spoke every week. One week dude got out of his truck it was single digits if not lower… he got out in shorts a tank top and flip flops. I told him “hey bud ya may wanna put some more clothes on and there’s some ice on the ramp.. “he didn’t think it was gonna be this cold, nor did he have clothes for it. I said hey you can hang out in the shop I’ll throw ya my carhartt or you can just stay warm in the rig. He stayed in the shop as I unloaded the trailer. He was freezing but happy because I got there early and unlike other employees I didn’t make him wait 2 hours to unload. I usually got there early the day truck got there to make room and to see what was coming so I was prepared. He got out early got a nice head start maybe get home to the family quicker, I had all the stuff organized and was also able to get a head start on the service schedule, and getting the installers’ order ready for the day. Everyone was happy

Before you accept the load, ask if there’s anything that picks up earlier, or before you deliver see if any loads available to pick up at anytime once empty
I seem to always wake up in the menards across the street from the loves. I get lost when I go into those places. Seems like 15 minutes go by when in fact it's been 3 hours.

I was a manager at Love’s once. We had an Arby’s. Love’s owned the Arby’s and cut the checks to the employees at Arby’s. You technically still worked for Love’s, not Arby’s. Idk if that’s how they all operate or not.

Don't know their specific arrangement but usually the larger chain owns the property and leases it to restaurants to bring in traffic. At least that's the way it works with grocery store chains.

If there is a set time to pickup ask your dm if you can pick up early. If you can go get it. If you can't make sure your dm knows that you will have trouble getting that load because of hour of service regulations.

CFI uses Loves now? That's a trip. When I worked there, we used Pilot/Flying J almost exclusively. We had maybe two or three Loves that we would use.
Yeah my trainer told me they had just switched over to Loves from pilot flying j a little bit before I started

It was a Flying J, but when Pilot/Flying J bought Bosselman, they sold the that location to Loves.

When a car let's you get in front (like @5 minutes roughly) you could give them a little thank you with flashing your 4ways 2 times or alternating your flashers a couple of times. truckers do that all the time here in mainland shitty europe.
