Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition is the sort of "remaster" or "definitive edition" of DMC 4. The graphics are noticeably better here. The Special Edition features Vergil, Trish, and Lady as bonus playable characters so it's well worth the purchase whether you have or haven't played the game already.
Nero is a young man who works as a demon hunter for the Order of the Sword that worships the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda as a god. When he goes to the Opera House to see his love interest Kyrie perform for The Order of the Sword's ceremony, the Order's high priest Sanctus is murdered by Dante, the son of Sparda who appears suddenly after crashing through a skylight. The Order's Holy Knights, led by Kyrie's older brother Credo, try to subdue Dante but he defeats them easily. Promising to return with help, Credo takes Kyrie to safety and leaves Nero to stall Dante. Tapping into his dormant demonic power, Nero overwhelms Dante. Impressed, Dante (before leaving) reveals that the Holy Knights members he killed were actually demons.
As always, we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!

Did DMC5 say something about Vergil's actual hand being connected to his son? That's why the Yamato also reacted so well to him?
Also, kinda dislike that before, to open the underworld, all you had to do (I stress this being sarcastic in nature) was get the amulet, which could sometimes be in two pieces tossed around from ownership, which then needed a special elaborate tower to spring up, where you then had to be at a dungeon level of the tower, to assemble the two pieces of an amulet + sacrifice the blood of an virgin woman and a half-demon's and probably a couple of steps more - none of which required using the Yamato.
DMC4 be like - well now humans know how to create fake-gates + this "real gate" idea, that has always been around, but nobody used that, which basically required only Yamato. The heck? Then why didn't Virgil go to get Sparda's power right away ever since he could use his Yamato...... :/

Honestly, I just think of how funny it is that they state he's nearby with the password and dante kicks open his door and starts shooting lol
And according to the anime, his services are free too. So he’s probs broke as hell
He does charge for his services its just that sometimes the damage to the area where he fights the demons are so messed up that he does not get paid and is given a bill for the damages instead, some times he rejects the payment for some reason and on the rare occassion that he actually gets paid lady would come and take almost all of it.

I liked how Dante looked serious and out for blood when he begins massacring the church starting with the priest he had "killed". But then after fighting with Nero he was reminded again by the shadow of his brother through the kid and start acting a little goofy. And right after confirming his suspicion that Nero was indeed Vergil's son that he finally acted like the playful Dante we all know and loved. It was through their last fight that Dante found out he has another family that he must protect and care for and it brings the sense of closure for his rivalry with his older brother from that moment onwards until DMC5 took place.
Yeah i like this detail aswell, also explains why he was so serious and quiet in dmc 2, of course he'd be bummed after everything that happened with vergil in dmc 1 and 3
Couldn't have said it better myself. There's no denying that Dante got that strong urge to look after Nero when he realized just who he really is. Nero kind of gave him hope again, he wasn't all alone family-wise, and him letting Nero keep the Yamato at the end was more than just giving him his birthright, Nero earned that sword, and Dante knew that he'll be alright from here on out, but he'd still keep an eye on him. He lost his brother (twice mind you), he's not about to lose his nephew.
Everyone always makes reference to Dante calling him deadweight in DMC5, but that was really just Dante's way of telling Nero to get out there so he doesn't die. Nero lost his Devil Bringer and most of his Demonic power along with it, there really was nothing he could do in that instance, and he wasn't just gonna watch his nephew get murdered by his own dad. Though I'd argue Dante probably anticipated that Nero would be bothered by that comment, and probably did it on purpose to motivate Nero to get back on his feet and get stronger, so in case he fails to stop Urizen, Nero can finish the job. But then when he catches up with V and learns that not much has changed with Nero, it was up to him again to clean up the mess and keep Nero safe from the ugly truth.
Dante's a good uncle, he just does things his own way, but he cares a lot more than we give him credit for. I've no doubt that if he knew about Nero from the day he was born, he'd look out for him. In his own way mind you, I don't think Dante would actually adopt the kid, he'd probably realize that he's not parent material and his living conditions aren't appropriate to raise a child, but he'd surely take care of Nero as best as he can even from afar. Send him money, visit him as often as he can, maybe even train him once he's old enough, etc.
Technically when he first met Nero he only had suspicions that Nero was Vergils son. But the second he saw how he reacted to Yamato he knew for sure
@@oliverqueen629 I also feel at 1:17:17 this fight made Dante 100% sure considering Nero almost stabbed him the exact way Vergil did in 3 which is how he was actually able to avoid it and let out a lil chuckle like *yeah, not this time*

Let's take a moment to appreciate how good the visuals of this game are. The character aesthetics ages so well. The environment building is just stunning, especially the forest part. The dialog is fun and beautiful. And this version of Nero has my favorite look and voice from the entire series. If DMC4 has DMC5's combat it's easily a perfect game, maybe more perfect than Bayonetta and the rest of DMC. NGL, I had been wishing there's such thing as a DMC4 mod for DMC5, with the better of both games combined.
I agree, I miss this era of stylized games from Capcom. I feel the RE engine ruined that style as they go more and more in favor for photo realism. Thank god we got MH Rise. Might be the last Capcom stylized game we ever get.

I have one thing that always bothered me about the credo and Nero fight as cool as it was. Credo is fighting Nero because he thinks Nero is a demon. But credo transforms with demonotic powers as well. Just cause he looks like an angel doesn't mean his is. Also what bothers me even more is that their religion worships sparda.... Who's a demon. A full demon. I can understand acknowledging his actions for the safety of their world... But no matter how he slices it....hes worshiping a demon. So being all "omg Nero has demon powers" seems a little....retarded. It's like a Christian being surprised another Christian got baptized... And then proceeded to kick their ass for it

Actually, that's a very good introspection. You're half right, but missing the truly neuralgic point: The Order is a reference to real life religious institutions, which members regardless of being human themselves, claim to know the will of the Divine. Now picture that in a context where not only that could be indeed achieved, but Divine power itself -- or so they'd think. The power is nothing but demonic and the members of the Order will never acknowledge that, especially when their supreme leader (*closest to knowing the Divine will*) says so. Nero even mentions that to Credo after he deludes himself thinking he transformed into an angel.
Besides, Dante is half demon and hunts demons for a living. And despite Sparda's origins, he was the closest the humans in the game lore had to a Messiah aswell, afterall he saved and freed them. The Order's members would therefore maintain their delusion that Sparda, being the only exception due to his feats, would return in the form of a "god" to _shelter them from the storm if dark times were to revisit them_ (prologue): the Savior. That's why they still abhor demonic energy (while hypocritically experiment with it by order of their leaders). Hope I've helped.
The thing that bothers me is if Credo and Kyrie are siblings, shouldn't Kyrie be able to transform too? Or were they able to transform because they were humans who chose to become demons?

Thank you so much for uploading this🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻. DMC4 really holds a special place in my heart, although the rest of the games are just as awesome. I am just one of those people who don’t own the console nor the game so my only options are to watch cutscenes in TH-cam. That’s how I became a Devil May cry fan. My wish is play them all one day and become a REAL fan :D.

I didn't believe my ears when I heard Johnny Yong Bosch voice!! I'm an anime fan I'm also a huge fan of his voice acting in anime.. I'm very surprised to hear his voice now in this game .. this guy's voice is so amazing he only casts the voices of great characters

Sora Keyblade well yeah but the intention for the new design was to look more like vergil, and not dante. Plus judging by his personality i doubt nero would appreciate constantly being compared to his much stronger uncle, so it would make sense for him to try to make himself as different as he can from dante.

Watching this after Devil May cry 5 again with knowing who Nero really is is Changing many things...
Yeah, that and how Dante says that he had doubts at first until he saw how Yamato reacted, then he was certain. That scene in 4 felt slightly off that he'd just give Nero the Yamato just because he needed it, now you can see a new interpretation when Dante says "it's gotta stay in the family" then "then keep it."
Wow in the beginning cutscene Dante really managed to make the order of the sword look like smucks.
If i remember correctly there was a novel on dmc4 where it stated that he wasn't even trying and said that he could haved finished them all off if he wanted but decided to let nero have some fun
