    Great tutorial, thanks for posting it! I'm fairly new to using fusion and I'm really enjoying exploring the awesome capabilities of the software. With the current version I found that if I create a surface loft body instead of a form body using the three handle contour control splines it allows me to adjust the shape of the knife handle and see the results in real-time by just moving the splines or any of their individual control points. Really cool stuff!

    I'm following along and wanted to comment in case other people are experiencing the same issue. If after completing the initial placement of your spline points some of your points are missing the control arms, just click "stop sketch" and then right click on your sketch and select "edit sketch". Now your spline points should all have controls.

    I very much enjoy the style of your tutorials, the pace its just right, I can´t stand some annoyingly slow ones or when they go too fast or don´t explain certain crucial steps, the voice over is very clear. Please let me know if you have some webinar, course or instruction. I need some help up the learning curve from time to time.
    The way you address little issues of the interface is quite handy. For instance I never knew what the 3 little lines icon on top of the timeline icons meant until I watched your basic tutorials on FUSION 360. Or the contextual drop down menu to select objects that are behind others pressing the left mouse button.
    I like that you use many of the less common tools on the menus, like REPLACE FACE, I never used it before, I would've tried to use the combine or split body operations or something like that.
    The way you use 3 splines in this video to get the surface for the handle of the blade is very useful. How would I build a similar LOFT surface but with exact measurements? Like when the surface needs to have exact specifications and to fit into another piece?

      Hey Victor, thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the tutorials. I actually did a detailed tutorial series for Plural Sight covering the entire process of modeling a pistol very similar to the one I showed here. It starts with creating the high poly geo with Fusion, then covers export to zbrush, retop, UVs, bakes, texturing with Quixel Suite, and rendering with Marmoset Toolbag.

    hey isaac,i know you have done a couple knife videos . i am new to cad...your videos are awesome...any way you would be willing to do a tutorial on a fixed blade knife with a complex blade with compound bevels and top swedge or false edge..and removable handles ? thanks frank..if you need a sample pic of what im talking about i can email you one ..thanks frank

      Hey Frank, I don't really have any extra bandwidth for additional tutorials at the moment. Knife blades with hand-ground forms are actually really hard with Fusion. One of the most important limitations with Fusion is creating organic shapes. It's just a lot of trial and error, because you need to keep adjusting a negative shape for cutting operation. At least that's how I've approached it. One of the perks of trying to nail a really unusual shape is you'll learn a lot along the way. Have you already worked through the knife tutorial?

    ive ben watching the knife videos...they are great...i just wonder, how would i , say design a full tang fixed blade with handles and screws and be able to disassemble and separate on the screen...do i have to mske them as separate components? and to make a folder functional on the screen. just curious, trying to learn..

    hey Isaac, for concept art how usefull is fusion? I'm learning it but every job that i see needs either 3ds or maya

      If I was concepting an idea out, I don't think I would start with Fusion. It's not flexible enough to make big changes at a really rough level. At least, compared to Zbrush, where you have access to all kinds of sculpting tools. Where Fusion excels is when you have a specific item to model. In my regular work, It'll be pretty clear which tool is better for a given project, but I have seen other artists block out a objects main forms in zbrush, then use the geometry as a modeling/scale guide in Fusion.
      For jobs looking for Max or Maya, I would definitely recommend you learn Fusion. It's a far better modeling tool for hard surface work than either of these tools. It's so cheap, and the quality of the models is so good, an employer would have to be crazy not to spring for a copy, once you show them what the deal is. You should also be familiar with the older modeling tools as well, as you'll need to retop the Fusion geo, layout UVs, etc. At least if you're planning on taking the model through to final low poly.
      You might want to touch base with Kirill Chepizhko (www.artstation.com/artist/fett). He's a concept artist, and he uses Fusion.

      Yeah, i'ts because of him that I started using fusion :D I didn't know that you could use the models of fusion as a base to make a low poly model. Thank you so much for the help! Also I don't usualy start with it, I use it to block out concepts after I have selected a few designs.

    When I do the pressPull, it extrudes with edges where the curves had points. Therefore my fillet doesn't work. Why didn't yours create those edges?

      Hey Vito, unfortunately without having access to the file it's probably not possible to diagnose the issue. Fusion is really picky about fillet radii on surfaces with edges packed in close together. Try selecting and deleting the edges. If it won't let you do that, try converting the body into a base feature. This will basically nuke the construction history, which might make the fillet operation happier. To convert your geo, be in the modeling workspace, select the geo, then go to create -> create base feature. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    hey man I'm pretty stuck and wondering if you can help, I made a pistol and a magazine is there a way to create the slot for the mag using the magazine itself to create the negative area ?

      You should be able to just combine the pistol body with the magazine as a cut, but turn on keep tools. This will cut out the negative shape of the mag. Then you can fillet or chamfer the edges. Let me know if that works.

    how do you make panels on models?

      Well, I have this rounded shape and when I try to draw a line on it, it doesn't go all the way round. Am not sure if there is a tool for that.
