Brock vs HHH was absolutely the right way to go for SummerSlam 2012. Brock and HHH were the two biggest stars going into that PPV. It was Brock Lesnar, a proven PPV draw, going up against HHH in HHH's first match back since WrestleMania. The anticipation for Brock/HHH was much higher than the triple threat, with Show bringing the match down as well as everyone already knowing that Punk was gonna win. If Punk/Cena/Show would have ended that show, it would have ended on such a flat note. Brock beating HHH clean (I'm pretty sure that the low blow finish was at Extreme Rules, not in this match) and breaking Triple H's arm in a good match was a much better way to end the show, then if Punk were to retain.

The Perfect Storm was a great match, too. But I still think world title matches should be the main event.

In fairness to WWE, the IWC tends to look at the Goldberg situation with the benefit of hindsight, which makes the decision to job him look much worse. The narrator talks like he was the most exciting thing in the company, but he was being audibly booed during programs with The Rock and Jericho, and didn't have a ton of momentum behind him going into the show. Having him run through everyone in the Chamber got a great pop, but it was hardly a sure thing that the fans would get behind him like that, so I don't blame WWE if they were hesitant to run with him on top.
Fuck HHH though. If he was hurt, take the belt off of him.
The reason WWE didn't put the belt on Goldberg was because Vince asked him to Take Triple H's spot on an Australian Tour because he was injured, and Goldberg said no. So I find it hard to sympathize with Goldberg or say he was a complete victim. Even though the should've taken the title off Triple H because he was hurt

WTF thats stupid - No shit, tittles are going to change hands at the following payperviews or the next night after a pay-per-view --- thats WWE in a nutshell - how is that getting the main event wrong. the 2003 elimination chamber match was crap: short but boring, slow and with a terrible end
Because booking decisions are the most important thing when evaluating matches IMO, more so than the match quality itself. Benoit-Orton was a prime example. Not only was that match poorly booked going in - as a recall it basically had a one week build due to Orton winning a battle royal, the result was wrong was Orton was not ready for the spot as the video said, and Benoit's title run was wasted. Dude just spent the last 5 months beating the likes of HHH, HBK, and Kane, yet a guy who basically was still a rookie at the time and HHH's lackey can beat him for the title, after one RKO no less? Just horrendous booking. And on top of that Orton, the fans weren't invested enough into Orton yet, so when HHH turned on him the next night, no one cared. That's getting the main event wrong.

You can't say they got the main-event wrong by what happened the next night or at the next pay-per-view - thats fucking stupid... Not sure if you remember but, the Orton feud made sense because it wasn't Chris Benoit vs Triple it was Chris Benoit vs Evoluiton for months - so in theory there was a build to that match started at Wrestlemania XX. It made total sense! What happened the next night on raw was great... Triple H and Evolution jumped randy and the crowed ate it up. What culture just has a Vendeda against anything related to Triple H or Stephanie.

Regardless of what Simon says about Benoit vs. Orton, the match itself was amazing, the handshake between Orton and Benoit, and the emotion that Orton had made it the highlight of the whole PPV.

2003... Triple H was injured, so they cobbled together the Elimination Chamber to have a title match at SummerSlam involving HHH doing as little as possible. They held off until Unforgiven (not Vengeance) because they wanted Goldberg to win the title in a singles match. Not really an instance of them getting it wrong.
The problem was Goldberg got pinned. They were setting him up to have a second undefeated streak only for Hunter to pin him and take away his momentum.
Everyone but the winner gets pinned in an Elimination Chamber match. Plus, a rehash of The Streak sounds like it would've been awful, so I have no qualms about the way they did it. Set up the match for Unforgiven nicely.

That oopsie of a fact aside, I love Whatculture countdowns top 10's. Some will obviously find issues with everything, but these guys enjoy themselves obviously and more often than not, they are spot on with their assessments/opinions, if you ask me. And they're funny and entertaining to boot.

Not that the matches that followed weren't really good, but not having TLC highlight Summerslam 2000 was a mistake.
Completely disagree with Benoit/Orton being on this list. Nobody would remember or care about a Triple H/Benoit rematch. Orton/Benoit was different, new, refreshing, and made the story told unique. And the match was one of the best, in my opinion, in Summerslam history.

The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar fight definitely should have been the main event of that Summerslam. Idc if Cena vs Seth was for the title, both matches ended terribly anyway so it doesn't matter. Lesnar vs Undertaker was one of the most anticipated rematches of all time. And honestly, they had such great chemistry that every time they fought each other, it was pure gold. Match definitely should have ended differently but I still think it was 10 times more anticipated then the title belt.

Triple H vs Lesnar should've been the damn Main event in 2012.There was such a good build up to it and it was the first time two legends like themselves faced off. Nobody wants to see some boring triple threat between the big show, cena, and punk.Next, how can you think last years main event was wrong?! It was a match where Undertaker got his chance to avenge the streak being broken. Lastly, the 2004 Summerslam main event wasn't wrong either because it was supposed to start the whole storyline of evolution disbanding and that all culminated with the Batista vs HHH match at Wrestlemania.
