To be fair, when Jim Duggan and Big John Studd won respectively, the royal rumble winners reward wasn't a championship match at Wrestlemania. Plus this was the time Hogan was on top and no body taking his spot brother!

Did it make him a star, though? I don't think anything that immediately followed that Rumble win was worthy of a top WWE star. Even the length of his world title reign is less impressive when consider who all he defended against.
Personally I think the height of his career was The Bar, and that certainly had nothing to do with the Rumble win.

@UCjikrxdNfQEwxE4AZpTwsUg there were actually planned to be champions following their royal rumble wins as they served a storyline purpose(batista was openly rejected by fans so plans changed but he was planned to be world champion, why do you think he left deal wasn’t fulfilled) and cena was still in his prime years plus him vs rock was the clear money match despite internet wrestling fans complaints rock vs cena popped wrestlemania’s biggest buyrate , orton was still full time and he had a compelling rivalry with bray , the match was just underwhelming. now compare those to y2j who’s purpose at that point in his career was to put talent over. logic says it all makes sense.

CM Punk should never have lost the WWE Title to The Rock . CM Punk should have gone one to Main Event at WrestleMania .
Yokozuna deserved his rumble win and his main event push. For a big man he was incredibly agile and had solid matches.

2014 is an underrated PPV. At the time it wasn’t the best but in hindsight after you see what eventually happened with Bryan, the PPV is brilliant. Obviously Bryan’s push to WM wasn’t planned from the start but the PPV still stands to be a good one I think. I don’t think disliking the winner of the rumble makes the PPV bad cause it really is entertaining.

I think both Batista got booed and Roman booed in each RR because they let them win at the wrong time. Should have let Roman win 2014 then have Daniel and Roman be the last two men and then having Daniel Bryan win the 2015 Rumble.

Honestly AJ Styles or Dean Ambrose would've won the WWE title in 2016 instead of Triple H while Stone Cold would've won the 1999 Royal Rumble
CM Punk would've got WM main event spotlight with The Rock and John Cena atleast
Would've loved to see Punk (c) vs. Rock vs. Cena in a triple threat at WM 29 and have him lose the title to Cena. That would've made his title reign 504 days.
He didn't deserve to be in that feud. Yeah, he had the longest Championship reign in the business, but that it's just a blip on the map when compared to The Rock and Cena's career and superstardom.
@@atlien1988 Wrong. Bruno Sammartino has the longest championship reign, followed by Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino (again), and then Pedro Morales, before getting to CM Punk.

The WWE’s biggest mistake was pissing on Punk time and time again. I was expecting each entry to suggest an alternative for the main event so I’m a little disappointed with this list.
Yokozuna was a legit main eventer attraction or not. Not a great rumble but he was the right man to win. And remember those years in the Rumble they always put the big guys over because they're hardest to throw out.
I give Batista this...when he came back, he wrestle every week which is good at his age and being away for 4 years but yeah wrong decision to have him win the Rumble
Yokozuna should have absolutley won a Rumble match. Same with Mr. McMahon. Those wins fit the time perfectly.

These year's rumble is actually kinda unpredictable. Who knows what could happen? There's multiple favorites for both rumbles, interesting Championship matches, and all sorts of other things. I believe after it's all said and done, it'll come across as one of the most unpredictable and intriguing rumbles in history.

So you are telling me, that the Shareholders knew way more about a better booking decision than Vince did in 2014 during the Daniel/Batista debacle??? Wow.
We all know Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, and Shayna Baszler should have won in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2020 respectively (Bryan was not in the Royal Rumble in 2014 so shut up). However, with hindsight, I'm grateful for the ones we got, including Sheamus because he help start the Yes Movement.

2014 is a shame because if they'd read the room and changed the ending, Roman eliminating Batista for the win would've gotten him over *huge*. Maybe fan pressure would've meant Bryan still won at WM, but perhaps it's now against Orton and Reigns, and his upset victory sets RR up for a major heel run against the uber-babyface champ.
Im really looking forward to the rumble. There's not much to look forward to these days, so I'm keen 🤩

You get a dislike for suggesting Undertaker vs HHH wasn’t far, far more important than Bryan vs Seamus. And also for saying Yokozuna wasn’t a main eventer.
The title of this video should be "10 Times WWE Got The Royal Rumble Winner Wrong". The current title indicates it's about which match went on last.

The 2015 Royal Rumble was over once Daniel Bryan was eliminated. Nothing else mattered for the rest of the match.
They’re biggest flaws in the past ten years is having guys that A) are part timers from the past, or B) already have super stardom pushes, win the belt. It’s fine to have a current super star win once and awhile; but look back at 2013-2019 and a lot of the RR winners were either recycled stars, repeat winners, or Roman reigns who didn’t need the win. Which just goes back to the WWE’s main problem: they don’t know how to build stars anymore. Vince has no idea what he’s doing and what made attitude eta and ruthless aggression era (some may disagree) so memorable was that they both had new stars being pushed and proper storylines and build ups. Now we just get storylines that make zero sense, and stars forced in our faces that the fans genuinely don’t want. I legit only watch RR to wrestle mania each year. And every-time I get disappointed. It makes it hard for people like myself who enjoy Monday night football to want to watch raw instead when the show lacks entertainment value. Moral of the story; if they want to bring back fans that aren’t children aka people who have money to spend on PPV and tickets. They need to make it entertaining again.

I was at royal rumble 2014 in Pittsburgh; we booed the hell out of him; he started flipping the crowd off after winning.
Disagree with Sheamus and the mania match was short but it lead to a great match at backlash .And at the time Del Rio made sense too just didn't think it needed to be a 40 men rumble
The thing that still bothers me about CM Punk losing to Rock was they could have had an all-time match of longest modern day champion vs the streak.

I still find it very shocking that Randy Orton is so young he's only 40 which basically makes him one of the youngest superstars from the ruthless aggression era started so early and won championship early and now already tied with triple h with titles and Randy still has more years a head of him wow I guess having a family member who wrestles often does help them become a big star like me kind of my parents watched wrestling alot so I ended up getting into it 20 years later still watch it well atleast the older stuff😆

People always want to put the Vince McMahon Rumble / Championship in the same boat as David Arquette and Vince Russo...but Vince did it literally 6 months before WCW pulled their crap. THAT'S why he doesn't catch as much flak...it was original when he did it. When WCW was doing it it was obviously for shock value and was a copy of what the WWF was doing. Plus the way that the WWF set it up, felt earned (and Vince dropping the title out of respect added to that)
They were VERY different things even if you had "Non Wrestler at the Very Top" in both cases
