  • Chris is joined by forensic psychologist Dr. Gary Brucato, forensic trauma nurse Dr. Ann Burgess, FBI Profiler Greg Cooper, and Dean Jackson with the Cold Case Foundation to discuss new developments in the case against accused killer Bryan Kohberger. Dr. Brucato coined the term "Prototype" concerning killers. "Prototype" is the original person that is projected onto strangers who looks like the person that's the source of hatred for the offender.

    There are people out there who feel the need to control their environment and will go to extremes to do it. They think very little of others. The problem with that is, they are hyper-focused. They don't see the cracks in their methods, only the solution to whatever it that stands in their way. The news is filled with stories of people who have taken advantage and even murdered to try and control this "thing" that they need to control. The irony, I believe, is that those who do this often times don't see just how out of control they are.
    Bryan had this "thing" that he felt he needed to control that wrecked environment. It drove him to be repetitive and he couldn't stop the pattern of behavior. He was the one in the maze and couldn't get out of it even if he tried. That's what you call, controlled, dysregulated, fractured, frightened and alone.

    Any thoughts on BK’s mother’s letter to the editor re: Ted Bundy? She supported Bundy and condemned the death penalty & celebration over his execution. Appears to be the only topic she ever wrote about. This was before Bryan was born. Eerie coincidence? Or could there be a psychological element to wanting to gain his mother’s interest and compassion? (Perhaps a stretch?)

I am so glad I found this channel and look forward to more of the comprehensive insight. Just enlightening!
    There are so many channels, even people who are running around the towns where this and Delphi, thru backyards, everyone is now a detective and it's just insane of all the blind speculation. This is so much more educational, and logic, with more of the psychology and holy it makes so much sense.

    It's the mother who is the first abandonment. In this case, it's an emotional abandonment. I am under the assumption that his mother was somewhat of a religious zealot who valued all life and didn't believe in the death penalty. At one point, she made a big deal about ted bundy's execution and had his obituary hanging on the wall. So imagine if you are a young man, fr what I can tell his father is somewhat emotionally weaker than the mother and this is his only make role model, the women in his life reject him because they don't know how to meet his emotional needs and instead leave that up to the father who coddles him. Meanwhile, the mother and daughter spend time doing things together which form a strong bond... So Ted Bundy got the attention of his mother then that must mean being like Ted Bundy is a good thing :) of course, this isn't a conscious belief, but it is a subconscious belief instilled by his environment and circumstance.

      My initial thought is his mother as well. I think that he absolutely hates her and I think he would’ve killed her had he stayed there at the house longer? In my opinion, she castrated him emotionally and as a man psychologically if you think about it, there’s a post that she made online that I remember reading a long time ago maybe on Facebook is what it was on about how her baby was going across the country. She was so worried about him. He’s 27 years old at the time. Secondly, both parents worked at a school, so they’re hovering around him all the time totally toxic as far as I’m concerned I just think that’s fucked up. And then the dad going there as well. He probably resent it is dad too for being so emasculated by her. He wanted to get his power back. He feels like women have taken it away and they’re pretty powerful looking women as far as going out and grabbing life and living it to the fullest creating what they want the world is there oyster so to speak. Additionally, I just can’t get over the father, saying to the neighbors as he’s helping his grown adult child move into an apartment in Washington, that’s hey please be nice to my son he doesn’t make friends easily Bubba Bubba blah I’m sure Brian knew his parents did stuff like this. If you think about it how are you supposed to ever get a fresh start or without a witness like them hovering over you all the time I’m not saying excuses anything if anyone thinks that you just have to look at in my mind, all the reasons how people end up here that’s how we learn.

    I believe he broke into the house before the killings. This victim ID card found hidden in a glove inside of a box at his parents house was very unlikely taken during the crimes in the dark of night from a dresser or a purse. He knew the layout of the house and knew where he wanted to go. I also believe Xana and then Ethan surprised / saw him and became collateral victims.

      @hollybigelow5337 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It has long been accepted that one of the things Bundy looked for in a victim was a girl with the hair parted in the middle based on an ex-girlfriend. It is such an accepted theory that I pretty much have never heard a longer profile of Bundy that didn't include that fact. Also, living in one of the states where Bundy committed his crimes and where he went to school, everyone locally knows that was part of his MO. Sure, a lot of women did where their hair that way at the time because it was the style. There's a reason his ex wore her hair that way. There's a reason he was able to find so many victims who wore their hair that way. But the fact that that was one of the features Ted Bundy felt his victims needed to have isn't some personal pet theory that Brucato invented. I don't know if Bundy himself ever confirmed the theory, and considering his first victim was supposedly a man it clearly doesn't apply to all of his victims, but still the vast majority of analysts who have commented on the Bundy case have come to the conclusion that Ted Bundy was effectively murdering the same person over and over again and that the parting of the hair and length of the hair was part of how he selected his victims.

      If this county can’t handle a DA with a purse, a shackled suspect, and two armed deputies guarding Bryan, the trial needs to be moved to one that can. Bryan could also strangle AT with her belt and create all sorts of mischief.

      @@TheInterviewRoom that he set up cameras and was watching his colleague. I know it was on dateline but how accurate is that evidence especially with the strict gag order? There seemed to be a lot of that in the show. I might have missed some evidence in the PC. Please don't think I don't respect your guests they are top notch but I'm just not sure about dateline well not yet anyway unless it comes out in court.

      @@TheInterviewRoom Dateline is quoting unnamed sources and aired the show immediately after the GJ indictment. Huh. The gag order doesn’t apply to the PA evidence but don’t you feel that they are contributing to the court scolding the media? This judge is intent on preserving the Sixth Amendment for Bryan.
