Also, she was chosen along with another Filipino male artist to represent the Philippine screening of the live action Aladdin some years back....she and the the other singer (Darren Espanto) performed the Aladdin theme in this same bus. She was strained a little bit here due to an illness she was experiencing and was taking medicinal steroids. Yes, her vocal breaks or fries, you call them sizzles or whistle, we usually call them squeaks, are her signature. She adds them as embellishments or decorations to add more color and emotions to her performances. I think you are right, when Mori found out that she could do squeaks, she felt good doing them, they sound so good, and became one of her distinguishing factors from other singers, that's why we can readily tell when it's Mori who's singing, whether it's a cover or an original song of her.
I hope you will continue to do reactions to Morissette. She has a lot of videos to watch and review, as she is not only very talented but also very hardworking as well. I suggest her original "Akin Ka Na Lang" on the Wish Bus, my personal favorite. Also, her covers of "Rise Up", "Never Enough", and "Secret Love Song", all on the Wish Bus. You’re may be interested to be mesmerized by her raw broadway performances on Stages Sessions: Wicked’s “Defying Gravity”, The Waiteess’ “She Used To Be Mine”, “Imagine”… There were actually 5 broadway songs she did in this session (all done in one day at home). Morissette showcased her dynamic abilities to do all genres and always leave us in awe.
Love your reactions! I totally agree with you! Her sizzle is used in this song so tastefully. The song "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" translates roughly to "I want to give up" (IE. giving up on a bad relationship). So when she uses her "sizzle" during the chorus, her whistle-cry highlights the lyrics feeling of being conflicted or torn inside whether to end the relationship. Marvelous detailing! Whenever I hear it its like being drip fed caffeine through the ear - it gets certainly your attention.

To see Mowie live, check her performances with David Foster, who recently did a concert series in Manilla. The recordings are on cellphones, so not high quality, but it doesn't matter. She sings "The Bodyguard Medley" and and a cover of "Never Enough" to die for. Everyone calls her high cry "the Mori squeak",btw, but she is a master of all the vocal breaks.
