I've watched around 8 longboard videos today while trying to learn how to longboard and trying to figure out what kind to get, and this one was definitely my favorite!! Oh my goodness. I laughed so hard!
I love Canadians and love longboarding, combine my two fave things in a how to slide video please and thank you! I currently enjoy dancing and carving as I am a novice in the trick department :-)
CanadianBoardCrew I know how to execute a standing slide in either direction and recently purchased a more flexible drop thru with carving trucks. Since I'm short & don't have a lot of weight to throw around, I have been really getting into the carving and surf style movements... So glove slide please :)
I really dont know what to think it was cringey but i think it was purposefully so, i found it useful aswell and some may find it funny, keep up the good work, sending support from enland
+Daniel Foor Thats a great board for downhill and the trucks are decent too, especially if you flip the hangar. Those wheels aren't good for downhill, they are better for sliding and freeride. maybe go with a monster hawg or a centrax if you want to do downhill or racing
my question is that I'm new to longboarding and i was wondering which one i should use for riding around the sidewalks with my friends and just cruising around
A drop thru is generally better for just riding around because it takes less effort to push, although there is a higher chance of scratching the graphic on the bottom because it's closer to the ground. That doesn't affect the board in any way though. I would go for a drop thru
I wouldn’t recommend it, because there wouldn’t be much board left to stand on. You’d need to remove too much length for the wheel cutouts. Unless you plan on using some really long pintail But sure it’s possible lol
I just ordered one and now I’m really nervous about the size because I ride with my friends and borrow their boards and I should have done more research on sizing because of my height
I want to make long trips on high speed, I also wanna make quick rides betwees my houses and rides to school etc. What board do y'all advise? I am not a really good boarder. this will be the first board i'll buy. Maybe a drop through? or...
A drop thru would be a good choice. Since they usually have long wheel bases it will be more stable at higher speeds and due to the deck being lower you will find it easier to push and stay balanced. If you want to go fast/ travel for long distances it is really important to get abec 7 rated bearings. They will make your wheels spin better. I would also recommend a wheel with a diameter above 70mm. I hope this helps :)
CanadianBoardCrew The Abec rating is a rating pertaining to the quality of the CNC machining used in the making of the bearing components, it does NOT equal speed. Just for example I have Abec 5 grease balls that roll faster than a set of my Abec 7 bearings. If you really want to get bearings that are worth while and have amazing speed go with Zealous bearings.
My fiancé has a Stella Longboard. I just bought my first longboard it’s a San Clemente Longboard 39” Tribal Double Drop Complete Set from a skate shop online based in Bristol, PA called Barking Spyder Pro Shop. I originally ordered that longboard from Zumiez but they suggested I cancelled my order since they said the longboard I ordered was a pre-sell item and they didn’t have it in stock also, they didn’t know when it would be back in stock.
I'm a beginner rider, looking just for a board to cruise with. I'm not sure I guess if length matters, I know for snowboarding which I do, it does. But I've been thinking about getting a pintail, I just don't want it to be terribly long. Any advice.
Madison Streigle length for cruising does matter. a longer board will not be able to turn as sharp or as quick. if you want a pintail style board that isnt overly long i would suggest; the Arbor fish 38, landyachtz Totem or the original pintail 40
Thank you so much, you guys have a Dutch fan haha. Do you think the riviera Mayan myth drop through is a good board for me? Or do you think you know a better board? I don't wanna have a board that costs much more than the Mayan myth
That board could be good. If you're going fast you'll generally want a stiff deck. I would recommend checking out the original freeride 41. Your best option is to go to a board shop and stand on a few decks to find out which one you find the most comfortable and best.
ahahaha I actually plan to get a board that's longer than that, I dont even know how to longboard, but I like longer boards, maybe I'll head down to the store and actually check it out, thank you!
Brickbuilder 777 That fully depends on what you want to use it for. If you're just cruising, generally longer boards, 38+ inches are the most comfortable. If you want to do some free riding you might want one below 38 so it's easier to kick out
Don't get shark wheels! As far as decks go, u would recommend a top mount that is 36 inches less. That will make learning to slide easier and maintain some cruising comfort
Kay. So I've never tried a longboard in my life. I'm a super noob to this all and I've tried to ripstick on three occasions and I've fallen. BUT, I reeeeeaaaaally want to learn how to longboard so I can get from point A to point B. I don't understand half of the jargon y'all used but I don't intend to learn tricks or anything. What do you guys recommend?
For just commuting nearly any longboard will work. Since you won't be going crazy fast you should get one with a little bit of flex in the deck (so it can bend). That makes it more comfortable to ride. I can't say what's best for you since you're not sure what you want. Are there any more details you could give me?
+Gari Chutney You should get a nice cruiser like a sector 9 sidewinder cuz it's cheap and nice for cruising but any cruiser will be fine(you can always go to your local skate shop and ask them for a nice cruiser that's their job)
I'm buying a longboard tomorrow and I want to know if a pintail will be good for me all I wanna do is cruise around the neighborhood and go on adventures
If that is what you want, go for it. For cruising you can't go wrong with a pintail. They are more comfortable to ride if the deck is more flexible. And I wouldn't suggest getting one over 46 inches long.
nearly anything would work as long as the wheel base isnt too long. Anything over 40 inches is a no-no. Ideally 36 inches or under would be good, if you want to do sharp turns. The trucks also matter as well. the higher the degree on the baseplate, the more you'll be able to turn.
Really helpful thanks! Completley new to longboarding, I've had a cruiser for a few months which I use from time to time, and I've recently discovered longboard dancing and it's far too difficult on the board I currently have...
Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about dancing. But i do know that a relatively long deck is ideal, more than 40 inches. A somewhat flexible deck that almost feels bouncy should be good too. Sorry for not being much help.
+D.Allen there's two board styles i would recommend, either a drop deck or a pintail. A drop deck will be way more comfortable to push and cruise, but theres a good chance you'll bottom out at some point. Pintails are more for people who care about style, but they take more effort to push with. It really comes down to personal preference. I would recommend going to a board shop and standing on a few deck to see which you like the most.
ThatOneGuy there is to definitive best, but let me tell you what would make it better wheels: anything with rounded or beveled lips with a contact patch relatively small, under 35mm trucks: trucks that have a lot of turn (50 degrees or more). personally, i like to ride mine really loose with not much bounciness deck: decks are all personal preference. I find top mounts are easier to slide because you can push slides out easier. if you get a choice of grip tape, go with the most grippy stuff possible! welcome to the longboard community! feel free to ask anything else.
Hi, I'm 14 years old, weigh 105 pounds and am 5'2". I'm looking for a longboard just for riding around and I like a board that turns well. Lastly i have a budget of $60. do you have any recommendations?
for that price point youre best off trying to get something used. If your area has a local longboard buy/sell page you should keep your eyes open for board that is no longer that 36" if you want it to turn really well (top mount preferred)
if its complete, i think you should go for it. if its just the deck and if its used i wouldnt pay 85 for it. Since its really low it will be easy for cruising, downhill and sliding. but you will need to watch out for curbs, which will get really annoying, trust me. do you know the name of the deck?
I think the longboard I made myself feels better than any commercial board i've tried. Also i can put a design on the top of my board so people can see the design .
Yo dudes can you tell me the name of the longboard with the foot grooves for cruising? Trying to find it on amazon. The one you call the time machine. Thanks in advance, thumbs up on your video.
the guy in the orange shirt reminded me of the guy in alien in the attic movie who was controlled by the aliens...(that was my favorite movie as a kid)
I would like to buy a longboard but i don't know which one, here is a brief description of me I weight 120 pounds, i want a longboard that can go smooth in roads but i dont wanna go in hills only the small ones and for cruising, i am thinking if I should buy a cheap or expensive but if you can name both, i am experience because i got a penny and skateboard but i would like to add longboard to my list, but if you do help me thank you so much.
Since you just want to cruise I would recommend a board like the Landyachtz battle axe 35 (on the cheap end). Or the loaded tan tien (expensive). Those are just a few of the countless options.
This is such an uncommon mix of weird/funny/actually very helpful lol.

CanadianBoardCrew abec dosent mean anything
luke byfield the number after it does. its a rating of how smooth it rolls. the abec rating means a lot bro
yeah but if you actually do engineering abec is not a real term its just something made up for skateboarding so that they can sell bearings
CanadianBoardCrew The Abec rating is a rating pertaining to the quality of the CNC machining used in the making of the bearing components, it does NOT equal speed.
