First time listening they kill it. I see this as a Skid Row influence I can so picture Sebastian Bach doing this. I love it I have been playing this over and over. I actually just taught myself the guitar part minus the lead. I will need some time for that. I'm 53 a serious metal head and guitarist of 40 years, this was a recommended by TH-cam video. Saw them for the first time last night at a small bar in Hamden CT; met them after the show. What a cool, talented, sweet bunch of guys! So grateful to still catch bands like this performing. The music from this era his such a huge part of my life although I wasn't even alive to witness it firsthand. As long as the bands keep doing shows, I'll keep supporting them. ❤🙏

I lived in Boston at the time their debut album came out and saw these guys at the Channel and Axis several times between 1990 and 1992. Even did a road trip with my buddy Don to catch them in new haven as well and help them load in at the club. They rocked live and Paul DiBartolo was always on the money and shredding. And Nobody could scream like Ray West. I miss those club days but I still listen to these guys all the time.
Damn great guitar solo. WAY above average. You'd expect some standard filler-ish blues licks and such, but this dude hits it out of the park. I salute you sir.

I remember these guys! We opened for them a few times in a place called "The Rock Horse" in Asbury Park, NJ. They were ALL super nice to us and all the other people there. Great guys! I am really happy to see them still kicking around. Cheers guys!

You have real good ears there and musical knowledge. I was thinking the exact same thing. I hear elements of both Sebastian Bach and Tim Skold in the Spread Eagle singer on this track. Shotgun Messiah and Skid Row both had so many kick ass songs on their early albums.

These guys became semi popular at the very end of the hair band era. Performing local acts at the same time and before some bands like Skid, GNR and others. They still had good music. 2 or 3 years earlier they would have been top 40.

I don't agree. While this first Spread Eagle record is legendary. And I mean fucking legendary... Unfortunately they were on a label MCA who killed the careers of any metal acts who were foolish enough to sign with their label. They never promoted them properly and eventually just lost interest in these type bands altogether. The pressure on spread eagle to make a second record that would somehow rebuild their careers that were going nowhere despite that first great album, they ended up going soft. They let mca force them to tone down everything that made them great. Just like the vinnie vincent invasion situation on their second album on chrysalis. And in both stories we had great bands who put out soft as kreme donut 2nd albums and eventually broke up not too much afterwards... Spread Eagle's second album is garbage in my opinion. As is VVI's second album of course. The latter being an utter joke to my ears... That is why I can't like them after their first one period... If you want something that is along the lines of their first record, go get Uttaro - "Edge Of My Life" cd ep from a long time ago. Skip their second album...>
Sean Morpheus Their 2nd had some really good songs like Devils Road and Revolution Maker.I see it as them expanding on their core sound with some new flavors.As far as VVI,I'll agree with you one that one.Mark Slaughter is totally under used on the 2nd

I loved this song when it first came out but never owned anything by Spread Eagle. I finally found the debut on cassette a few months ago and bought Open To The Public on CD. Spread Eagle's debut is a classic of raw LA glam metal.
Now this band brings back memories and really shows my age. Loved the walk back down memory lane. Seen these guys a a few times in NYCity. Loved em. Keep it wicked!!
There are actually quite a few sleaze rock bands from Europe. I looked up recommended bands on my Cowboy Prostitutes search on Apple Music and it led me down quite a rabbit hole. I would guess 20/30+ bands that I discovered.
Was fortunate to have known and worked with Ray back in the beginning as part of a copy band in 1980. Always knew he had that special voice and showmanship to make it to the top of industry. He was my inspiration to become a better vocalist and guitarist and that enabled me to shoot for the stars in the late 80's. Always my friend and I still think of him when I'm belting out songs, mostly wishing I could scream in tune the same as him.

@@TheKokojoe I saw skid row at the Somerville circle lounge back in the 80'. Before their debut album came out. I think they played with the band the New dogs, and Pierce. Two big local acts. The 80' kicked ass music wise.
Jersey had a decent metal scene back then.
