That was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Xu Xin with that 3-1 lead, the near-injury, Ma Long's 3-3 comeback and rally in the 7th game, and Xu Xin closing it all out with a dagger. GG, both players have nothing to be ashamed of.
I saw two ping pong gods playing on earth. I am speechless...

If you look at Stiga videos of him (take a look at "a day with no.1 Stiga star Xu Xin"), you'd see him doing many things with his right hand instead of his left.

This competition is absolutely great. Now MaLong has won the 2016 men single champion. And XuXin will show up too. Looking forward to watching it.
I feel that these two losses are going to be good for Ma in preparation for the Olympics. There is no chance that he will be overconfident now, and he has a fresh feeling of being down 3-1, playing a high tension seventh game, and having a huge deficit in it. Also, huge props to Xu for beating Ma twice in two weeks. I don't clearly remember the last time Ma lost to the same person consecutively in such a short period of time. After seeing this, I think Xu should represent China at Rio (this was am exciting tactical melee between the two), but it's his fault that he started playing like this only after the selection (which may be due to the pressure being lifted and him accepting his position). Besides, you can bet that Zhang will play much better at Rio than he has recently.
This sport is so underrated. What some people don't know is that they've changed the rules to this game at least 3 times to slow it down so that people can watch.

It's not about his speed, it's his ability to aim shots anywhere he wants on the table. Ma Long probably has a more powerful forehand, even though they're quite close...
Ry seung min has as powerful a forehand as Ma Long and Xu Xin If not more powerful. Watch his games againt these 2 at least by observing this seems to be the case however we would not know until proper scientific tests are carried out.

Speechless. Unbelievable.
Including the semi-final as well as this one, the best I've seen XX play in over a year. I don't think his backhand will ever be as consistent as Wang Hao's, but his movement and agility are unequalled. Ma Long's lucky he won't be facing him in Rio if he's in this kind of form.
imagine you'd have a penholder with the backhand of wang hao, the forhand of ma lin and the speed and reactiontime of xu xin

Xu Xin is now a true penholder because he has grasped the key essence of penholder: the versatile and unpredictable play that gives the opponent lots of pressure. He has made fundamental improvement recently, and will be a formidable player if he keeps going this way.
I think this will be recorded as one of the closest table tennis matchup.. What a comeback from ML though.

The rationale behind the decision was that ZJK had more solid results , being a grand slam winner, and has a better win rate as a singles player as well as against foreign players...I respect the decision, but I STILL THINK ITS A FUCKING MISTAKE, Xu Xin belongs at the singles finals stage against Ma Long

When it mattered the most it was ML that showed unbelievable strength, this last 1 year and 1/2. Now after the choices have been made XX decided to show some more quality. Sorry, but life is tough. Great match anyway.

What a match
Ma did a great job if you ask me. The match started bad for him because Xu took greater risks in his shots and had a bit luck also. Despite of Xu's great form wich nobody can deny, Ma always found a way to win some big and small points, showing everyone his psychic stability. In the last set, Xu used all of his serving tricks and fastest third ball attack, wich gave him an advantageous lead of 8:2. Knowing that this is the last ITTF tournament before the olympics, and that he should have shown better stability, Ma comes back to 9:10. Unfortunatley, not al the way up, but still great in my opinion. His technique remained the same through the years, but his mind works better under pressure.
adam speaks fast, but ittf cut so much the match, don't have any replays to see the plays of xu xin.
