@@raghus8746 The Chinese encourages Penhold players who meet the requirements in body type and athleticism because of tradition as well as more diversity of play for their team in tournaments and practice partners. It’s just few rise to this level to be one of the best.
@@epic1053 ikr, the new ball actually destroyed ZJK. tbh western player adjusted to new ball pretty quick with no injuries, but chinese player took some time and most of them got some form of injuries during the process, with ZJK retiring....evil scheme by ITTF

I always saw Ma Long as the most hardworking and ambitious table tennis player. After that match I can also say about him that he has huge respect for his opponents, because what he showed in the end standing there an aplauding together with the crowd is what I call true sportsmanship. Huge respect to him for that. And of course also don’t forget about Xu Xin‘s great performance 💪 What a match🙌 I absolutely loved it. That are two true champions 🏓
Haha ... Ma long gave the ending a little twist by winning the exhibition point and then had that big grin afterwards. Like a gentleman, he gave the point back. Bravo to both for a great match!
Did anyone else notice at 3:44 Ma long changes his forehand racket rubber to red just to hit the high ball, such an amazing presence of mind. I know these guys are trained heavily but doing it in real match is really difficult. Really appreciate it!
5:20 That touch shot from ML is absolutely insane. It may not look as crazy as some other touch shots, but if you play table tennis at decent level then you will be able to tell how difficult that shot is.
Modern table tennis players really need to have everything a smashing forhand loop, a relatively stable backhand topspin, forhand chops, blocks, counters, a good serve, good ball placement, reading opponents movements and angles, good serves and last but not least a outstanding footwork to bring this all into play!
Harshal Kulkarni they always do that. Theyve known each other for long, when the game is over and it’s match point, they do that and have fun switching sides. Here is slightly different because he won the point, referee was confused x) The easy return was because he knew it was over, he gave up, and they did this.

Table Tennis was so much better in that era, we don't get 5% of entertainment and enjoyment today compared to this match. Celluloid ball was awesome and Xu Xin is now retired :( :( I wish we can go back to this era.

Talvez Xu Xin venha ser o maiso show man da estória desse esporte. Suas habilidades são espetaculares , sua movimentação é insana. Percebo algo no jogo dele que é a questão dos efeitos e das bolas altas. Ele gosta de usar demais esse recurso devido a plasticidade, porém contra Ma Long( O maior jogador da história) e Zhang Jike( o segundo maior jogador da história) ele teve q se adaptar e usar batidas de maior velocidade e menos spin. Xu Xin num dia inspirado pode vencer qualquer atleta
After watching Lin Shidong and Harimoto play the finals of the Asian Championship, I've got to say that I miss Ma Long and Xu Xin. It used to be so beautiful, the point count didn't even matter. It was just magic on the TT board.

I used to think pen holders may reduce after Ma Lin... Many Chinese moving to normal grip. But this guy XX has taken it to a different level

This is by far my favorite ping pong match. My two favorite players goin at it and showing respect and good sportsman ship to each other

At 7:31 - Xu Xin used traditional penhold backhand block - rarely seen on him as he has fully utilised reversed penhold backhand.
