Today watching Prime Video, I had Food Safari - Fire come on. It had many chefs using wood in cooking. Also it had speciality charcoal. I do know you want to produce the best looking firewood. So there must be some ugly stuff. Have you ever thought of asking your customers if any were interested in charcoal? I am just thinking you must have a bunch of scrap. Also then you could have tree trimmers drop off wood for free and you can turn some into firewood and trimmings into charcoal. Also you could sell customers charcoal so you have a summer business when folks are buying less wood! Enjoy watching your journey. All the best. At the least, the Fire show could show you how customers use the wood in cooking or you could just enjoy the show!
Hey Joe, love the channel. Here is a short term solution to your big round issue. Use your tractor bucket. Roll the rounds into the bucket, then lift the up to the table height of your super splitter. You will still have to transfer to the splitter, but you won’t have to do any bending and lifting. It will save your back a ton of strain
I was about to comment that you need something like a Eastonmade Axis wood splitter but I guess Andrew had it before me! Congrats. It will be a great help for your not so young anymore back.
It's amazing how fast you get use to having a piece of equipment like the tractor especially when you don't have it available for a day. You made the right choice on tractor first then a commercial log splitter because you need the tractor to get the wood to the biggest splitter.

I sold wood years ago and have a Central Boiler wood furnace, so I have cut my far share of log length wood. I used a Timberwolf log splitter and was happy with that splitter right up till I hit 50 years old. I’m now 60 and no longer cut and split wood. The older you get, the more important it is to have the right splitter. The super splitter is not good for older people, to much lifting. Your other splitter is good but to run it efficiently you need your tractor to move the logs to the splitter and it has its limitations with diameter of log it can take. If I was still doing log length wood I would consider buying a Wallenstein WP 845 processor. I would also get a tall conveyor with a trailer set up. Winching, cutting, splitting and stacking all in one motion and never touching the log makes sense to me. Enjoy your channel Dennis

Best advice is for you to stay lean and you won't be lifting the flab all the time.

It always excites me to see people step out of their comfort zones to try to make themselves successful. I seriously got chill bumps and teared up for joy for you when Andrew provided you with your brand new Eastonmade Axis vertical splitter with the log lift and conveyor. What a blessing it will be. I hope you will make part two before Sunday or at least do a live for the 10k subscribers to provide the back (no pun intended) story. Now that Andrew has purchased Bells processors from his dad and they will be branded as Eastonmade processors, I see you also having one of those in the near future. Great creating for the theatrical ruse, but when Emily said she had to leave in 20 minutes for school under the weather conditions, I knew that was not true😊! I initially deduced that you were borrowing Adam’s Axis but seeing the unused paint on the wedge, it confirmed that Andrew is demoing one for you as he did with Daniel Arms and Buckin’ Billy Ray Smith. Congratulations, Joe. The anticipation is maddening to hear the story. 👍👍👍
I just emailed some of my contacts. Your up for an Emmy on that one! Lol. I got a good chuckle out of your video. Good luck! Quality equipment pays off.
You had me going! But, throwing shade on your nephew ("family first"), "we'll edit this out", "I have to go to practice", then stretching out sideways in the truck!, I knew something was fishy, but it was still a surprise!! Enjoyed the prank!
You know what!? I was just about to put up a comment on checking out the Eastonmade Axis wood splitter!!! This is better than a thriller...! God Bless!!
I call a third of a cord 42.6 cf (128 / 3) which the legal definition in Ohio. This is a simple math equation. The bed is 2' tall and 5' wide. A stick of firewood is 16" (1.3') long. With these dimensions a 1/3 of a cord is 3 1/3 rows stacked in my bed. A half cord would be five rows.
@@ohiowoodburner Thank you When I cut and split firewood in New Hampshire there was very little demand for fractions of a cord. More often our orders were for 10+ cords. We didn't stack the wood in our delivery truck. We gave 160 cubic feet of tossed in (or off the conveyor) we arrived at this by sending a 128 foot stacked cord up the conveyor.
Joe, I feel your pain. Lower back pain is no fun. Obviously, if you had your loader you'd pick up the large ones and use the super splitter. In the short term, could you build a cradle / table to lift large logs onto and them buck them with rounds still on the table which would match the height of your super splitter. Trying to figure a way to process the large logs and use the equipment you have. Otherwise, trade the yapa in and go all in with a larger processor. Easy decision right! It's not but think about the future of your 1 man operation. If you're out of commission how will you maintain your customers? If I see anything else out there I'll let you know. My 62 yr back relies on Aleve every night. Good luck!
I have to admit. The first thing I thought of was the Eastonmade Axis. Been following them for a while now. I think you can't go wrong with one of those in your wheel house. 👍
You chose wisely. That will work great in your custom firewood business. When that is too small you can always trade in for a big Bell 4000 or 8000 which is now owned by Easton Made! Congratulations.
Common as in Come On Joe, I’m 68 and still lifting or vertically splitting rounds, if over 24” just noodle it in half. You can always get a splitter for your Bobcat and not have to lift at all 😏 🪵🪵🪵🪓🔥👍🤠
Joe that should take the game to a whole new level and help that back for sure. If it wasn't for the log lifter on my splitter not sure I would make it either. Take care brother.
@@ohiowoodburner Trust me when I say it’s worth it, I found myself taking pain reliever for my back almost everyday and after I went to a chiropractor for a little bit I very rarely take pain reliever anymore. The first week sucked because of how bad my back was but after that I felt way better. I really can sympathize with you about the pain but for me it is definitely worth the money afterwards! Feel better!!!
hey Joe now that you have the tractor I recommend using a high production hydraulic log splitter for those nasty rounds. It needs to have a hydraulic lift table to pick up those rounds. Bring the log right up to the lift table with the tractor, buck em right in the air to keep the saw out of the dirt, and roll/ pickaroon the big rounds onto the lifting table. Over time when you keep sawing in the same spot a huge mound of saw dust piles and you splitter is downhill of the pile, making it even easier to roll the big rounds
I’m happy to see the new equipment, but I’d still recommend you wear a back support when dealing with the lifting. There are so many good and inexpensive choices. It will help support your lower back and remind you to use your legs. Good to see you growing! I knew something was up when your daughter was feigning her impatience. 😂
Hi Joe. If your Dream is real, The Eastomade Axis is the best Splitter for controlling the size of the split pieces and you are in the upright position when Splitting. Your back will thank you. FYI, at my age, 70, I use an adjustable Elastic back support when doing heavy work. Good luck.
I'm wondering if he set us up. Ether way I loved this video. Love the ending. LMAO. His daughter may have been in on it. Good job Ohio Wood Burner! Good entertainment and it would be nice if your back is ok.
Anders from Norway here :-) I have totaly fallen in love with the Eastonmade Axis. Awesome machine that easily can "eat" any size log without "killing" the operator..... Unfortunately I can not get that machine in Norway... :-(
I see the load handler in the truck. Do you like it? I don’t remember seeing any video that you gave the plus and minus of it. Looking forward to seeing the Eastonmade axis. Congrats.
That wood you're loading up for delivery doesn't look very dry. The ends and the split sides are all freshly done. Even if the tree was dead will it be dry wood?
Build a log bench with sacrificial cutting table. Stage your large logs on it for cutting, and split with SS. If you need too, spin the rounds and noodle on bench. When you split a large round, the bench is there to set half a round on, clearing the SS table for more efficient splitting. Or stand half round on end, off to side.
No Joe...I don't think your Dreaming...just setting us up...LOL I love to process and sell firewood...glad I don't have to rely on it for a living though. Aleve works well for my pains, but I usually take the next day off when I overdo it. Anyway, now that you have the tractor, if some of those large logs have a straight section(min 8'6" long) you may be able to trim them up and sell them to a sawmill. Even if you just get pallet grade price, you don't have much work in them. Your tractor can help maneuver and load on your trailer for delivery. Just a thought to market some of your over sized logs. Although I think I already know was coming down, still looking forward to Part 2. Enjoyed the show!
Do you know about a "Pickaroon"? I've split less than 5,000 cords with Super sSplit. I lifted the wood with a pickaroon. Peavey Manufacturing up in Maine still makes the best wooden handle pick.
LOL, he got them both!!! I feel your pain Joe, 57 yrs old, 2 heart attacks, hernia, both shoulders done, and a lumbar fusion. Some days all I want to do is sit in my chair, oh wait that's most days, lol. Disability sucks.
And that is why I built my splitter with a hydraulic crane 14 years ago, when I was "young". I use it to lift the smaller stuff I would throw by hand then. Take care of yourself, I see a back cracker once a month or more if needed.
Joe. I am sorry. LMAO. We’re not showing this, edit it out. “ Lets go, you had your couple of minutes.” Daughter definitely has her big girl voice. Well, I guess I am not sorry. So funny. Tractor was a good call. Lending it not so much. Your health is not replaceable. Besides, you really want camera girl barkin orders? Lol. Sorry, still laughing. Such a familiar scenario. As always, a great video. Get someone to rub icy hot or similar on your back. Looking forward to part two.
That wasn't to bad I didn't feel a thing. Lol. Don't they have a lift attachment for the super splitter ?If not maybe you can come up with something and maybe with that invention you will never have to lift another log in your life. Just my thoughts. I know those things are heavy. We used to split 3 foot wide stumps. Talk about a workout. But at least we were able to roll them to the vertical splitter. Can't you leave those for a day when you are all caught up with the smaller splits?
Ha! I love the little glimpse right at the end! Seriously though, take any and all measures you can to save your back. Including spending more money! Damaging yourself to the point of permanent incapability does you and anyone who loves and depends on you no favours at all. Look to maximise the use of your Bobcat and other machines with all this, let the hydraulics do the lifting!
Joe, Hope your back feels better quickly! I definitely would recommend a splitter with a log lift so you only have to role the log with a PV and then the machine will do the lifting for you! Remember take care of your body!
Hey there Joe! Take it from me, a soon to be 67 year old who started have back issues at the age of 50 and my advice to you is to stretch your back on some type of round device such as a beach ball or even a basketball. A stiff swimming pool noodle works as well. You can have all the upper body strength but it is rendered useless if your back is out. I work my back for at least 15 minutes every morning regardless if I’m out cutting wood or taking a walk. Stretch the back sir!
@@ohiowoodburner anytime! And please remember back pain can shoot down your legs as well! Keep on keeping on with your great videos and commitment to your business. I am a subscriber and watch every day.

Here is another thing that will greatly help your back. A grapple. I know it’s real easy for us fans of the channel to spend your money. But you could lift those bigger logs up to waist height and never bend over to cut with the chain saw. Grapple allows you to keep total control of the log while cutting it up. Tractor time with Tim has some great videos of the artilian grapple. Would be perfect for your operation while costing less than $2000

You know what!?
I was just about to put up a comment on checking out the Eastonmade Axis wood splitter!!!
This is better than a thriller...!
God Bless!!
LOL Pierre! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This was fun making but the back issue is unfortunately real! Joe
Can't wait to see the new splitter in action!!!
Same here Dave!
I know how you feel. I am 59. Broke my back 30 years ago. I do a lot of things that I am not supposed to do. You just grin and bear it. Life goes on.
Keep on moving forward Jimmy!
Explain how you fit one third of a 128 cubic foot in your pickup all in front of the wheel wells.
What do you call a third of a cord?
I call a third of a cord 42.6 cf (128 / 3) which the legal definition in Ohio. This is a simple math equation. The bed is 2' tall and 5' wide. A stick of firewood is 16" (1.3') long. With these dimensions a 1/3 of a cord is 3 1/3 rows stacked in my bed. A half cord would be five rows.
@@ohiowoodburner
Thank you
When I cut and split firewood in New Hampshire there was very little demand for fractions of a cord.
Can't wait to watch it contribute to OWB!
You chose wisely. That will work great in your custom firewood business. When that is too small you can always trade in for a big Bell 4000 or 8000 which is now owned by Easton Made! Congratulations.
I wonder if I would ever get that big? Seems way too far to go for me. Joe
Common as in Come On Joe, I’m 68 and still lifting or vertically splitting rounds, if over 24” just noodle it in half. You can always get a splitter for your Bobcat and not have to lift at all 😏
🪵🪵🪵🪓🔥👍🤠
I'm hearing you. It's just an off day for me!
Way to go Joe! Orange and blue! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Joe that should take the game to a whole new level and help that back for sure. If it wasn't for the log lifter on my splitter not sure I would make it either. Take care brother.
I agree. The log lift is the key. Joe
Work smarter not harder. Keep up the great videos.
Lift with my head, not my back!
Can’t wait for the next video! Chiropractor’s really do work, especially for what you do every day.
I could make one a rich person right now!
Hey Joe Hang in there. I like the sneak preview. It was a must ,if you go down ..then what ? Be safe and be smart ! Thanks again. Craig. Pa.
I'm hearing you Craig. I gotta watch myself. Joe
Your daughter is a trooper
Awsome video how nice is it to dose off and wake up to that axis
I need to take more naps...see what else it out there!
hey Joe now that you have the tractor I recommend using a high production hydraulic log splitter for those nasty rounds.
HAhahaha great ending Joe
That was a great video. I know how it feels to lift the big rounds. I can't wait to see you run the axis. That is a nice machine.
Thanks Tom!
I’m happy to see the new equipment, but I’d still recommend you wear a back support when dealing with the lifting. There are so many good and inexpensive choices. It will help support your lower back and remind you to use your legs. Good to see you growing! I knew something was up when your daughter was feigning her impatience. 😂
If you knew here you would know she wasn't joking. I was just glad she didn't induce me with any weapons LOL
CONGRATS on 10k subs!!!
Thank you so much 😀
...I'm speechless joe lol.
As am I Mr. Easton!
Y doesn't he buck in half ?
Well played Joe! 😊👍🏻
Taking a bow! LOL
Hi Joe. If your Dream is real, The Eastomade Axis is the best Splitter for controlling the size of the split pieces and you are in the upright position when Splitting. Your back will thank you. FYI, at my age, 70, I use an adjustable Elastic back support when doing heavy work. Good luck.
When you sat up, I was thinking to myself...he needs one of those eastonmade splitters that lift the log. You got me. Lol😂😂
LOL... I am glad this came off well!
pretty hilarious, great job on the tease!
LOL Thanks Bonnie! Joe
Awesome Joe! I have been coveting an axis for some time now. You better make lots of videos showing it in action!
That's the plan Mike! Can't wait
Look into Wolf Ridge manufacturing! They got a number of log splitters with a log lift on it!
They make very nice machines for sure Rudy. Joe
I am glad you didn't edit it out. We are all human and keeping it in makes it more of a real video
Thanks John. My daughter is in charge of production and editing! lol
Maybe someday Anders. You never know. Joe
G'day Joe, you're all set now young man to pump the wood out. Three things you never loan they all come back the same way 👍.
You got that right Ish. In this case my nephew is a farmer and takes good care of machines. The CT2040 is nicely back in my garage.
lol omg, that was a great video. I also wish i was near to give you a hand, but now you have a splitter. Enjoy!
I can't wait to put it to use!
Nice! That splitter will be perfect for you!👍🏻
I think so too!
I see the load handler in the truck. Do you like it? I don’t remember seeing any video that you gave the plus and minus of it. Looking forward to seeing the Eastonmade axis. Congrats.
I have one on my truck. Well worth the money.
Love the Loadhandler. Best $30 I ever spent. It makes appearances in some of my past vids.
My dad is 52 and I'm 12 I love cutting firewood he does too but he the net day i hear him herting
Your dad sounds like me. I'm hurting today big time!
That wood you're loading up for delivery doesn't look very dry. The ends and the split sides are all freshly done. Even if the tree was dead will it be dry wood?
The customer was aware. This is for an outside patio. Joe
Thanks for the tips and comment Margaret! Joe
Eastonmade Axis. Sweet way to introduce a new machine!
Thanks Mike!
THanks for the post Steve. As for now I need all the logs I can get. joe
Eastonmade has a new Kubota Diesel motor option on his large splitter that would do you good :)
Any motor would be good enough for me with an Eastonmade! Joe
Do you know about a
"Pickaroon"?
I've split less than 5,000 cords with Super sSplit. I lifted the wood with a pickaroon.
Peavey Manufacturing up in Maine still makes the best wooden handle pick.
LOL, he got them both!!! I feel your pain Joe, 57 yrs old, 2 heart attacks, hernia, both shoulders done, and a lumbar fusion. Some days all I want to do is sit in my chair, oh wait that's most days, lol. Disability sucks.
Hang in there Jeff. That is quite a list of ailments. Hope you are doing well. Joe
Bahahaha! That ending cracked me up.
This was a lot of fun to do. Except for the back pain!
Haha, great job. Well played!
Thanks MT! Joe
And that is why I built my splitter with a hydraulic crane 14 years ago, when I was "young". I use it to lift the smaller stuff I would throw by hand then. Take care of yourself, I see a back cracker once a month or more if needed.
I need one on speed dial this week!
Good morning Joe your a smart guy it's a lot easier on your body to split the big rounds in half or thirds with a maul or splitting ax
Think with my head, not my back! Joe
Joe. I am sorry.
She is a pretty strong personality Tom. Definite leader in the making. Joe
I love it. Your daughter keeps on rolling. Get up dad, Bring me to school. Joe- "I'm dying here"
This was my younger daughter. She is pretty demanding.
OWB Joe! Hope your back feels better!
I hope so too! It is still bothering me. This cold weather isn't helping any!
I was thinking about the Axis while watching. Good vid!
It's not a dream after all Mike!
IMO, you got the right one. I am amazed at what I see this machine doing on TH-cam. I look forward to pt 2 - The tractor was a good choice though.....
Can't wait to show it off Bob! Joe
Nothing ages you more than a bad back or a bum knee. Joe
Joe,
Hope your back feels better quickly! I definitely would recommend a splitter with a log lift so you only have to role the log with a PV and then the machine will do the lifting for you! Remember take care of your body!
How bout an Eastonmade Axis? LOL
Thanks for the tips. Great idea. I have never been much of a limber person but this injury did happen at the very beginning of my day. Joe
@@ohiowoodburner anytime! And please remember back pain can shoot down your legs as well! Keep on keeping on with your great videos and commitment to your business. I am a subscriber and watch every day.
The whole time I was thinking, has he looked at an Easton made Axis? 🤔... That would be perfect for what he’s talking about hydraulic lift splitter with a conveyer put the side. Nicely done joe
PS even some of us 30 year olds have a bad back and dream of the day of an eastonmade axis 😎
What a great addition to the production here Nate. Thanks for watching. Joe
Would be perfect for your operation while costing less than $2000
Thanks for the tips. I am looking at grapples. when my wallet agrees with me we will get one! Joe
There was me feeling sorry for you !!
You lucky man!!
LOL The back pain is real however
