- Wow, we cut and split this firewood fast! We cut the firewood logs with the Balfour Samurai buzz saw and split the firewood with the All Wood Muscle Wood log splitter! This load of black locust firewood would have taken him hours to process with his Stihl MS390 chainsaw and Fiskars X27 splitting axe. Let’s see how quickly we can get this firewood processed.

Nice job folks. Rachel I hope you don't overdue with some of the larger logs. I really wouldn't like you to injure your back at such a young age. Believe me it's no fun when you get older and they tell you time for a back operation. It's never the same after that. So just take care of your back. God Bless you and the family.

Heath, Rachel you probably have the material laying around , most of it. The push block can cycle and return back to home without touching the handle. Guessing if you purchased materials $30 to $40 super easy. If my auto cycle stops working. I already have the fix for my machine, if it’s outrageous to fix. Great video. Rachel your work ethics are impressive.

Ive never heard of a product like that Samora. The kerf is easily thinner than a chainsaw, soo much faster.

Great video guys just love when you can help out with other people and they can help out with you too. Didn’t take long going through the pile excellent job and it’s nice to see the samurai running on a less horsepower tractor and it didn’t even bog it down. I have a question. Does your fan kick on much on your wood splitter? I’m always trying to see it lol.
I wish I could just help others all the time lol. The fan on the All Wood is manual but we rarely ever have to use it unless it’s pretty warm out since the hydraulic tank is so large!
I used to have an MS390, it was a good saw. I hired someone to help me cut and the moron put straight gas in it and burned it up. He was supposed to have a degree in forestry. I now use an Echo590 Timberwolf. I like it better than the Stihl, but the Stihl was a good saw.
James, I really like my Echo 50cc saw, more than my Stihl 50 cc saw as a matter of fact. Of course the Echo has been ported.
I have owned every professional brand of saw over the 30+ years I have been cutting. A Jonsered 910 I had in the 80's was my favorite, but Shindaiwa beats everthing else. Echo bought Shidaiwa many years ago and all their saws above 40cc are from them. They are cutting machines. Due to my age, I mostly use 50cc saws now with 16" bars. My Echo 501P is a dream. I also have a 490, which is not the pro model, and it cuts great too. I try to keep 2 saws that interchange parts so if something happens, I can fix the other.

Hi Heath ,here is a suggestion for your samurai cut off saw, if you fix a bar to the top of the blue guard then hang a short chain from it at the appropriate distance it may be a n easy fix as it can be set to whatever cutting length that you may require

I would love to have that samurai cutter, i love splitting wood but hate to cut it into rounds. I have that same tractor (kioti ck 3510Se). Boy could i use that behind it!!

Germany has a system that does everything from cutting the tree down stripping the tree cutting the length splitting and loading on a trailer or truck.
That’d be sweet but I bet it costs a lot more than $2k.
is it possible to put a foot control for the cutting blade on the samurai cutoff saw instead of your right hand?
It may be with some work. I’m pretty sure the hand control is for safety but a foot control would be nice.

Update on the fire loss , 2 band saws, 1 drill press, 2 weed trimmers, 1 leaf blower, 1 table saw and 4 chainsaws and the wife still says I can only replace 1 chainsaw so I agreed....she looked me dead in the eye and said "no you're not getting the 500i" . Moral of the story is be careful what you say to the wife you never know when they're actually listening 😂

Did you ever get that trailer shackle greased? Also go to a service station and try a Pneumatic grease gun (higher pressure)

Nice set up! What rpm are you running your Balfor saw at? I run my engine speed at 1800-1900 rpm, yours sounds faster. Also balfor makes an outfeed extension so you wouldn't need the roller stand.
We may have been running a little higher on his tractor, I usually run around the same to try to hit the 360rpm at the Pto.

Where did you get your saw blade and what size I need a saw blade but don't know where to get them
I got it at Eastern Farm Machinery in Ontario, Canada. It is a 700mm blade.
You guys should try to figure out how to get the logs to fall on the splitter table somehow.
We were working on a set up with our all Wood log table and a short conveyor.
Where do you work? That allwood is impressive

It doesn’t cut as fast as a regular chain but definitely lasts longer. Great for dirty wood.

WOW the Samurai is quick, but it must cost over $15000. And your All Wood splitter I guest also mush cost over $15000. For that $30000 You can buy a nice processor all in one easy to tow and set up. Ron USCG RET
The samurai was around $2k when I bought it and I believe they’re still under $3k new. My All Wood was around $12k when I bought it but it too has gone up since then. We also run a Dyna processor which is definitely awesome.

Seems this situation would be a perfect place for that monstrous firewood table. - Also, we've watched the samurai a lot. It badly needs a robust stop that can drop out of the way. Each cut uses a little time and effort/concentration more than it should to adjusr it to the right place for cutting. And it wouldn't hurt to have a powered converyor to carry those fence posts on thru the samurai. If you're looking for speed, the fewer steps the better. The shorter those steps, the better. The more work the machinery can do speedily, the better.....And of course, many hands make light work. - Hope you can stay out of the mud.

Forget the laser pro sizer just use whiskers, they cost about $0.50 and works faster plus no batteries nd no worries about knocking it. Laser is just a wast of money and more of a toy then anything else. Whiskers are faster, cheaper, works in all weather and hey can take hits and just keep working plus the ones I have on my saw have been there for 2 years now and still works

I would cut the big end first with the Sameri.
We pretty much fed them in how they were stacked.
It should also have a log cutter or miser as well.

Where oh where is the elevator dropping the splits into a tote saves even more backache. But you three people have shown how fast doing it with machinery really is. But as I say with totes it would have been a lot easier and faster. Especially if there's forks on the tractor loader.
He doesn’t have any totes and my homebuilt conveyor needs some more work.

Turn the splitter the other direction so the cut logs can be set right on the log lift table
We would have but needed the splits to come off the far end.
I don't understand why the cordwood saw has a "table" on the "drop" side of the blade; operator has to reach for each drop after a cut. Also the cut-off is left "loitering" in the cut zone. Why not let gravity take the drop away, per 100 years of cordwood saw design?
I put that table there so we could hand the logs off to the splitter without them falling on the ground. I use it when I toss the logs up onto my All Wood table. If we weren’t going straight to the splitter I’d just let them fall onto the ground.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I wasn't referring to the short portable roller stand, I get that. Rather the saw's integral table which extends to the right of the blade and keeps short logs from falling away after a cut. Without the extended table, cut-offs could drop away either to the ground or to a chute, conveyor, etc., without further handling.
Mostly just curious, from the perspective of having made thousands of cuts without any table at the "drop" side of the blade.
@johne189 ah now I’m tracking. Possibly because the blade pulls through on this one instead of rocking the log through the blade to keep from pinching?

So.... between the tractor and all the tools, spend 50k to make $300 in firewood? might as well just let it rot, save your back, and buy heating oil.
Well the tractor is used for a lot of other projects and not bought to do firewood so that’s a non issue. The saw was around $2k and the splitter $15k. Since I’ve owned the two I’ve sold a lot more firewood than that and heat my house as well as providing unlimited hot water so I’ll pass on the heating oil.

These firewood been cut about 3 year ago . them he use a box 📦 store wood 🪵 splitter, fun he didn’t KNOW what handle to pull until he see RACHEL use it on U tube . These carbide chains don’t cut as fast but they don’t need to be sharpened often. He knew what lever just didn’t know he didn’t have to hold it.
Looks like Rachel is doing most of the work. Lol. Just kidding. It’s a fast operation
