'filmmaking... a personal delineation of borders.' this is so genius omg. Since the beginning of time, storytelling has evolved together with the medium. Yet great storytellers know, by personal experience, given the limited resources for such dimensions for the medium of their time, must know how to scope and make decisions on which to highlight and which needs to be trivialized.
Herzog is probably one of the best filmmakers of al-time because of his movies aren't only recognized in Germany, they're also recognized around the world. Furthermore, he's known by hiring, and working constantly with Klaus Kinski, the famous actor with whom he made 5 movies however, both of them were about to kill each other. In fact, while shooting Aguirre the wrath of God, Herzog pulled Kinski a gun because he was going to leave the movie's set.
technical things are boring! I did a film 1 year diploma with the intention of going on to doing a degree but realised how it was all about the industry & technical aspects.. got very boring and disillusioned so didnt do that. His film school sounds great though... whats it called?
@@samaraisnt yeah take it back that was 6 yrs ago lol. You have to learn it to do it I enjoy some aspects not all of it. But thats anything got to put effort/ concentration and time in to get good results
I think what he means there is that there's no substitute for hands-on experience, just "going out there on foot" and experiencing and learning things firsthand.
I always wanted to go to his Rogue Film school, but I suspect he won't run it anymore because he teaches some mass corporate thing online now. But I finally worked on my film to submit for entry into the class. i thought I might get in just because my father looked a lot like him. LOL th-cam.com/video/_GWzGdRLNOc/w-d-xo.html

Werner Herzog is and amazing and outstanding gentleman. I can listen to him talk about films all day.
Ya, metoo , also his English is better than English man
His Masterclass is one of the greatest educations I have ever received.
Herzog’s MasterClass was my first. Very real world, no bull, self reliance. Right on.
Wwwwwwwwewwwwryfhhf
I am taking it now, and it is better than some of the stuff we covered in film school.
Mattheau Fain where is the school? Online? Or what?
@@talorrenea7735 It is on Masterclass.com.
Herzog was my first master class. No bull, a model of self reliance.

It was Kinski still angry about the meals on set in the jungle.
@@nickpastorino5370 lmao just try to visualise angry kinski just repeatedly ramming the dislike button

The Rogue Film School. He also has a Master Class on this.
So how the hell do you learn it then?? You have to learn technics or else you can't technically do it.

What does he mean at the end when he says if you have something important to do in your life try to do it on foot?
