Great tips 🙏🏻 but you are wrong on one important point: the lid fairy will return the lid...but only after you have decluttered the container to which it belongs 😂
Consider filling those extra purses/hand bags with the extra travel size toiletries you’ve collected. Add a new toothbrush, toothpaste, comb or brush and donate them to a Women’s Shelter. When I travel I try to collect those hotel items just to donate.
Yes! The hotel staff are obliged to throw anything away that has been in your room, so definitely collect it and donate it to a homeless person or shelter rather than let it waste.
what i like to do with leftover face wash i didn’t love is i use it to wash my makeup brushes!! works great because most face wash is made to remove makeup:)
Hi Sweetie, I don't live in the States so I was amazed to find that people kept containers full of decor so that they could change out the decor each season and for different celebrations. I have decorations around but these are the ones that I treasure as they were given to me by family. Most people here only add decorations at Christmas time, and the amount used varies from home to home, I always thought wreaths were for funerals, but these are used a lot as home decor in the state. Really enjoyed your list, thanks for sharing, your dogs are cute by the way!!!!! 🥰
If you don’t mind me asking what country are you from!? I love that where you live it’s not all about decorating every season 😍❤️❤️ it is so wasteful and overwhelming to me.. thanks so much for sharing I love learning about what people do in other countries 👏❤️
I love hearing your perspective and what certain objects like wreaths signify in other countries. The consumerism is wild in North America and influencers who post 'decorate with me' videos are no help either! I'm in Canada and only decorate minimally for Christmas but that's not the norm. I'm actually going to give away our pre-lit artificial Christmas tree to a family in need when the time comes because we have a bunny now that would love to chew through the cords. We can get along fine with the small tabletop tree that we already have.
Thank you for all your help and great suggestions for decluttering. I honestly find myself spinning my wheels and getting overwhelmed. I grew up in a time that nothing was wasted including food, clothes, decorations, appliances, but I have been trying to downsize the last few years. My stuff is holding me back and I need room to breath.
I really like your decluttering tips, and the three things per surface tip has really helped me in certain areas. But I’ll never be a minimalist like you. To me, a true minimalist home is devoid of all character, personality and warmth. I know that a dining table with nothing on it is easier to set for dinner. But dinner is only half an hour and having to look at an empty table for the rest of the day would make me very sad. A pretty bowl and two candleholders on either side are easy to move. And they add some character to an otherwise soulless space. My opinion, but again, your tips are appreciated. And i did subscribe today, so i do like what you say.
We are a family of 7 and we have two plates per person, we find this is a good amount to cover all the meals and be able to run the dishwasher at the end of the day. It's enough for company too. I definitely need to declutter mugs, it's like shoes for some people 😅 I am new to your channel, this was a great list and things I can definitely revisit decluttering.
❤ A very good list. This morning, I decluttered my desk, tidied up the house and you just motivated me to start going through the linen closet. Thank you for this. Have a beautiful day.
We fold our socks by laying one on top of the other and then fold in half and put into the dresser in a row. It makes it very easy to see all the socks at once and keeps the tops from stretching out, plus space saving.
Good morning, Becky, "Declutters", and "Future Minimalists"!!! This is the third time I watch this video. 🙂 I love it! ❤ Since I've been decluttering slowly (but surely), I have been doing it little by little... that's why this is the third time I watch this video since it is my third (and hopefully last) declutter... I chose to do that instead of a massive declutter! We found that our hotel toiletries is great to put in a plastic bag along with other useful items for the homeless. Thanks for you list! God bless you and yours.
Orphaned socks make simple but wonderful pet toys, that kids can have great fun making. I stuff mine with catnip, paper scrunchies, rattle balls, etc., tie them off at the top and add them to my animal shelter donations. Speaking of which, many shelters also take old towels and sheets for the animals. Call your local shelter and ask what kinds of things they need. Mine will also take my animal magazines, to pass on to those who are adopting a pet.
Decluttering the yard is another one to do. I have two large aviaries that are disintegrating so I’m deconstructing them along with a broken dog house that I’ve never used. I have been taking down fences with rusty wire or rotten wood. Once my ex-hoarder moved out and the yard was cleaned up somewhat I was able to assess what else needed to go, reusing stuff where I can like piles of sand and good wood. I hate gardening but this is rewarding.
Thank you! And I’ve only begun working on it last year, just doing small bits due to depression. I’ve got 17 x 20m Cypress pines on the other side of my boundary that are dangerous and drop huge limbs and I have my water tanks and sheds in there path.
❤ Great list, kids shoes and kitchen items can always use another round of decluttering. Big family makes it harder to stay minimal😀 In Sweden were we live most people only decorate for Christmas and not very excessive. A pumpkin for halloween and some flowers for easter but not much else. Interesting to see the difference between countries. Have a lovely weekend.
I resonate with that so much and loved the time we got to spend in Sweden last year 😍🤗 Christmas and now every holiday are so commercial here in my opinion it’s less about the holiday and more about the decorations
That’s how most Americans used to decorate for holidays. For some reason, “seasonal decor” has invaded the American psyche. I still decorate for holidays similar to the way you describe.
@minimalease I agree. I'm from US too. I'm 55, growing up it wasn't as commercialized. Even birthday parties for kids are over the top with renting a place, goodie bags. I honestly think it's becoming too much. I do enjoy decorating for Christmas.
For duplicate kitchenware, donate to local womans shelter. People fleeing their homes are struggling to set up new homes. In my town we have an organisation that its sole purpose it helping people starting over. Cookware, casserole dishes, utensils, pots and pans are always greatly appreciated. My mother recently passed away and we are giving them the contents of her house. The only thing we wont pass on is her clothing. I admit she was very good at getting rid of clutter which makes it easier. It feels good to know we are passing on decent quality home goods and furniture to someone that needs it at no cost to them.
I just want to let you know how GRATEFUL I AM... that I came across your channel and met you. One of the best things that happened to me is KNOWING YOU. I AM SO MUCH INSPIRED. I am on my 4th year now in my decluttering journey and got rid of almost 80percent of our Clutter. But no amount of inspiration from books and other minimalist podcasts that made me literally get rid and donate the HUGE BED FURNITURE my daughter never used since she was 4 years old, now she's 18. because it's a customized hello kitty character which she loved when she was 4. with a huge price also. But she still sleeps beside me till now in another room that's why she never used it. And another thing is the HUGE painting in our living area I bought at a pricey cost too which I do not know why I bought it but I was hanging with it for almost 7 years. But because I am inspired by what you shared about CREATING NEGATIVE SPACE. I FINALLY gotten rid of it and I FEEL LIBERATED 😭😭I am literally crying because you helped me DID IT. THANK YOU!🙏🙏🙏You are such an INSPIRATION to us. Keep on inspiring! God bless you and your family!!!❤❤❤
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your journey to declutter! All of our stories are so different and I love hearing about how decluttering can change and improve our lives ❤️❤️ I’m so grateful for your words and kindness ❤️❤️ thanks so much for sharing!
One item I couldn’t believe I had 3 car full loads of was polystyrene in cardboard boxes. I’ve been decluttering for a number of years and only keep boxes to store my fans for summer, a few sewing machines and TVs. I decided that I only need the boxes for the fans to keep the dust off them and not the foam. Because of the mess that was made by breaking it up, I set aside a few days to break it up in my lounge and cleaned up when I finished each session. I don’t have kids or pets so it was safe to do. I also got rid of a lot of boxes and the amount of space I gained was fantastic.
Truest minimalist Ive seen! Love your opening statement! Ive thought of objects as physical manifestations for years and all my clutter mini procrastinations. Borrowing your statement to motivate me through another level of removing what Im not using and keeping for the wrong reasons. Also, I will have faith that i will have what i need and do not need stuff to feel secure.
Thank you for this! I’m moving house in 3 weeks and I feel very overwhelmed with the amount of things I have. Even though I’m moving to a bigger space I’m hoping to reduce a lot of my belongings before my move for a fresh start ! Really helpful tips here
We are moving house this summer to a smaller home with no garage. I’ve got to go through the whole house! I’m breaking it down into smaller sections so it’s not overwhelming. It’s hard to let go of little kid toys that are so special to me but no longer needed because our kids are past that stage. But I’m feeling excited because I know the less we own the less I have to manage 🙂 Thanks for continually inspiring and motivating me ❤
That's awesome and such a great reminder for all of us that "pretty clutter is still clutter" and " if you can't use it, it is using you" thank you so much for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can relate to that in the sense that I had some nice shoes I wasn't using anymore. It helped me to know that the person who gets them can use them in their life journey.
@@Nini-ze2jk When I went back to work a few years ago after being home with babies, I needed a whole new wardrobe, but couldn't really afford it. I was SO THANKFUL to find a number of really good quality things at a second hand store.
What a great video. I have been on this journey for some years and I felt myself checking off the list you were doing and YES I celebrated when I heard them. I am now working on the generational stuff. How in the world did I become the keeper of the family stuff. I have been setting up different boxes for different lines of my family. WOW. I agree to consider some stuff that is simply not important to the next generation. Bravo to your video. Well done.
At the weekend I decluttered the bedroom. Took the pictures off and got the old motors off from under our boxspringbeds. I just love it. ❤❤❤ It's so much easier to clean under the bed now. Thank you for your new tipps today. That's a big list!😅
I’m proud to say that I’ve decluttered almost all that you’ve listed in this video. 🎉 The only thing I plan to keep is my genuine leather purses for my daughter. I have already decluttered The cheaply fast fashion ones and will no longer purchase. Instead I will invest in quality now so it’s rare when I buy a new purse but I will be saving them to pass down to her ❤
I’ve made chores a little easier and less messy by looking at having the right things for the job. I have a wood heater and I used to fill up the 2 wheelbarrows with firewood each week so I couldn’t use them for gardening. I’ve built a wood shelter inside the garage near the front door and made a new wood box on castors for next to the heater. It also has hooks on the side with a shelf for gloves, etc. so there’s nothing on the floor. It’s keeping the house much cleaner. I can wheel the box to the front door and load it up without walking mud or grass into the house and there’s no risk of slipping inside. My shelter holds 6 barrows full and takes up the same amount of floorspace as the barrows.
I really like these kind of videos Becky and really enjoyed this one 😊 I don't have decorative pillows myself, but I heard a tip on the frugal money saver channel where Emmy said that if you love changing the pillows, you can always keep the inner part and just change the covers if possible, this way they take up a lot less space ❤️
3 deaths in the family hit us and we have SO much to go through. I already needed to go through everything but now i got 3 lives to sift thru 😂 looking forward to q year or two tfrom now when its all cleared out 😂😂
Hi Becky, I’ve been following you for a while now, and I’ve seen your channel grow. I’m so happy about that, because I’ve watched a lot of other minimalist living channels, but I’ve found your videos to be especially comforting. You speak with a lot of warmth and care. I love the heart-to-heart way that you sit down and speak to us (your audience), and I love the way that your channel serves to “help” others. It’s not just a “home tour”, or to show off what a good minimalist you are; you are truly offering insight, ideas, and your own experiences. I’ve been a minimalist for about 12 years now, but I still love to listen to others talk about it (like yourself) who are encouraging. I find that with different seasons of life, even as minimalists, small and large things can begin to overcrowd us and we can easily begin to lose focus, so thanks for all of your great insight.
I just took a screen shot and saved this to my phone ❤️ thank you so much for your kindness 🩷🩷 honestly I love teaching and learning from everyone in this community! It has been an amazing outlet for me and I’m so grateful everyday
@@minimalease Thank you for your sweet reply 🤗. Your love for teaching definitely shines through! I feel like you’ve created a cozy little classroom in which we can all just enter in and have you take us by the hand, and gently guide us, step by step. I always look forward to your content.-Nicole
I love utilizing my buy nothing group for kitchen appliances i need to borrow. I used my neighbors crock pot for a chili cook off and brought her some as a way of saying thanks.
I love the Buy Nothing concept too, even though my local chapter isn’t that active. However, when you mentioned it’s good for crock pots my immediate thought was that you clearly haven’t watched This is Us 😂
We travel with carry-on luggage only. We store off-season clothes in them. Our hassocks have blankets and towels in them. I'm 74, 3 of us live in a 2BR apartment. Tina, Al's wife
Yes! I noticed I gave over 2000 bookmarks and really old Contacts. I've tried not transferring them but Google always does it. One time it actually eliminated what I had entered to keep, and added the old ones.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of purses I used to have and yet even then I’d only use one 🤦🏼♀️🤣 Im the worst at losing things or not remembering where I put them so changing between purses drove me crazy! so glad I don’t try and keep up with that anymore 🤗 thanks so much for sharing ❤️❤️
In my dining room hutch I have drawers. One for new and used batteries to be recycled. One for small kitchen stuff. One for office supplies (very limited amounts of everything) and one for odds and ends like cards or games or string or small candles/measuring tape. My dishes are in the hutch also not in my cupboards except for glasses and some mugs. I have a table with drawers in living room so I keep stuff for dog in one drawer and gardening hand tools/gloves in the other. If I let my husband put stuff away they would all be junk drawers that you can never find anything. I’ve gone through each pen to see if it works and sent full of them to the office of where he works. We only need 2 pens. He keeps bringing me more from suppliers he goes to and I keep bundling them for I’m to bring to work. He came home with 10 pairs of gardening gloves on sale and I had him return them. I keep reminding him that I don’t want more stuff but he keeps bringing in more. He saves empty boxes and papers and I keep showing him that the paid bills can go to recycled bin. And the papers can get burned at the campground. It’s never ending battle.
It sounds like you’ve been busy! When it came to my husband we still have our differences but he now really enjoys living with less and helps me keep things organized but it took us a while to get to this point 🙃 good luck continuing to declutter friend!!
decluttered spices during Thanks/Xmas hols. Over last few months (since Xmas - cuz ya know , goofy/not useful "gifts" I started a bag and now big box, 1 long garment bag, bags out 2 b p'd up !
I have a gold bracelet with my name engraved on it that I got as a Christmas gift when I was 12. My wrist is currently too big to wear it. It is still in great condition. Sharen
How do you declutter old computers & phones (where do you take them/what do you do with them once you're done & have removed what you think you need...and are they secure?). I have a box of old tech stuff that I'd love to ditch but don't know what the heck to do with it!
Our county does a once a year electronics recycling event. They send a postcard and you just have to register. It’s free. Check your town for something similar.
I am not a one-bag-fits-all person, but I apply the same tactic to my handbags and my shoes : I only have one (or one pair) of each colour. I choose my handbags carefully, so that they can be of different sizes and fit most of my clothes. I won't have two pairs of shoes of the same colour, so I make sure to cover all the kinds (flats, boots, different kinds of heals) in this limited range of colours.
Ive only felt bad for one toy i didnt get when my daughter wss asking for it.. she wanted a rocking chair and i had one that matched my great grandma had.. so i was emotional for a bit for that one.. lots of moves and life it sucked.. Hopefully i do get to keep the one i got for her for later on
I either use the powder called "Ever Spring" from Target or "Blueland" which I get from the Container store. Both of them I have enjoyed and continue to use ❤️❤️
the shoe thing is so real, in the pandemic I bought so many shoes but some of them didn't fit right, I promised myselft I was going to buy things to make them fit but I just hate to do an extra thing to use something. Worst thing is that I love those shoes but I don't wear them
I already decided weeeeeeks ago to try and declutter on top of our cabinets... Those are the spots where wevput everything that has to be out of our way or out of reach for our youngest, but it's getting out of control... I already decided that the things belonging to my stepdaughter I will put in a under the bed rolling container. (Things that used to be her moms things and the condoleance cards (and other) she received after her mom died. I bought her a new photo album to use for photo's and cards she wants to keep, a box for things and some sort of file folder to put papers in. I hope she will put all the things in there the way she wants it and maybe she want to decorate the photo album with drawings or stickers she likes. It's on her to decide how she puts all those memories in the album or boxes, so she can enjoy them for the years to come.) Technically it's not decluttering those things, but giving them another place where she has easy access to them. But on top of the cabinets are also some old toys I can give away to a thrift store or just give them to other people for free. So the cabinets will get emptier when I manage those things.
That sounds like a great idea what your doing for your step daughter ❤️ letting her decide how she will keep and manage her memories herself when she is ready ❤️❤️
Not everything we have needs to make sense to other people just to ourselves and if it is something you really enjoy I think it’s a great thing to keep 👍
Hi, I love your declutteringadvices. But where and how to declutter without just move the problem to somebody else to solve? You can not just put Everything in the bin ? Or where, not to harm in A New way?
Functional things I donate to my local thrift stores, give away to family or friends, or local shelters. I think apart of decluttering for me was accepting I made mistakes and I needed to change how I was living and buying. Now when I buy things I always think about how I will eventually declutter that thing
I would like to keep the area rugs off of my beautiful wooden floors but I am afraid my dog will scratch them with his nails. Any suggestions? He is horrible when I try to cut his nails. We have been to vets, petsmarts, friends have tried and at one point we had to give him a tranquilizer and he still will not sit for getting his nails cut.
Our floors seem pretty hardwood so we haven’t had any issues with scratching but I do keep the little washable rugs near the bed so it’s easier for my dogs to get on the bed ❤️❤️ I would get a ruggable like rug if I was to get one just for ease hope that helps some
Start all over again. Get dog's nail clippers out and put them on a table nearest to your dog. Give your dog a treat. You want him to associate those terrifying nail clippers with a treat your dog loves but doesn't always get. Maybe, it's a piece of cheese or a bit of peanut butter. Make sure these "treats" are okayed first, by your Vet! When your dog is comfortable with the nail clippers being out- but not moved, (this could be a short time or even much longer. He could run , just at the sight of those clippers! ). Try placing the clippers nearer to your dog.Always reward all compliance with that "rare" treat, praise and a pat or two. Place clippers on dog's paw. Compliance gets treat. Place clippers on dog' nail. Get him a treat. Make a snipping noise ( not his nails) use your clippers to clip your nails. Give dog a treat just because he listened to the sounds! Hold dogs paw. No clippers. Hold dogs paw with clippers. Hold dog's paw with clippers held against his nail.Always treat for compliance!! Finally, after what must seem like forever...this could be over a period of days or weeks...clip a bit off his nail.TREAT and praise!! Depending on the dog's reaction, leave just that one nail clipped or do the rest of his nails on that paw. Always end training sessions on a positive note. Never train to boredom or frustration. Check dog has eaten, gone outside to do his business and is feeling good - not ill or overtired - before any training. Best luck and pats for your dog!
Don’t be too hard on yourself! 💕 it wasn’t easy for me either. Keep practicing and maybe try a decluttering game or hushing the room. Try using one purse for a month and see if you even miss the other ones 💕 good luck friend!
Shampoo, etc. Maybe one of the reasons accommodation places supply these is because travellers can find that any bottles with liquid contents can be confiscated at the airport - very disappointing for those who have spent significant amount of money on these items & sometimes even bottled water. It is worth checking before lugging (because they do add weight!) these items half way around the world just to have to give them up.
Hey Minimai really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?
That is really interesting and something I have never thought of because we don’t have that issue where I live. What country are you from maybe someone on here can give you suggestions ❤️

The hygiene products that are inside the lodging bathrooms, are not meant to be trinkets. They are supposed to be disposed,or if unopened, leave them there. Chemicals start rashes. Then maintenance will clean them up. Sharen
As you get older you give in to comfortable shoes over stylish stilettos. (Can’t believe I ever wore those ‘toe torcherers’.) I do keep a couple of pair of low heel dress shoes. I call the my “restaurant shoes” because I only wear them when I just have to make it from the car to someplace to sit down. 🙃

Consider filling those extra purses/hand bags with the extra travel size toiletries you’ve collected. Add a new toothbrush, toothpaste, comb or brush and donate them to a Women’s Shelter. When I travel I try to collect those hotel items just to donate.

@minimalease GREAT IDEA 👍👍💯💯
Great ideas ❤️❤️
Decluttering the yard is another one to do. I have two large aviaries that are disintegrating so I’m deconstructing them along with a broken dog house that I’ve never used. I have been taking down fences with rusty wire or rotten wood. Once my ex-hoarder moved out and the yard was cleaned up somewhat I was able to assess what else needed to go, reusing stuff where I can like piles of sand and good wood. I hate gardening but this is rewarding.
Wow! Sounds like you’ve done a ton in the back!! I enjoy gardening but that sounds like a Lot of outdoor work even for me! Good luck friend!! ❤️
Thank you! And I’ve only begun working on it last year, just doing small bits due to depression. I’ve got 17 x 20m Cypress pines on the other side of my boundary that are dangerous and drop huge limbs and I have my water tanks and sheds in there path.
@@willchristie2650 So glad you were able to open up your yard for a lovely change!
I use old clean socks for dusting.
That is a beautiful and thoughtful way to share with women in need ❤️ thank you for sharing your suggestion ❤️ I’m sorry for the loss of your mom❤️❤️
That’s awesome 👏 it’s such a good feeling to take your space back 😍
@@minimalease Yes, the weird thing is that when I feel like I’ve taken a space back, my lower calves and feet feel a lot lighter and I’m floating.
Aww thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for this! I’m moving house in 3 weeks and I feel very overwhelmed with the amount of things I have. Even though I’m moving to a bigger space I’m hoping to reduce a lot of my belongings before my move for a fresh start ! Really helpful tips here
❤️❤️ I totally understand and I've been there! You got this!
We are moving house this summer to a smaller home with no garage. I’ve got to go through the whole house! I’m breaking it down into smaller sections so it’s not overwhelming. It’s hard to let go of little kid toys that are so special to me but no longer needed because our kids are past that stage.
But I’m feeling excited because I know the less we own the less I have to manage 🙂
Thanks for continually inspiring and motivating me ❤
That’s amazing! Good luck on downsizing and your move!! 😍❤️

I can declutter my shoes. Im having such a hardtime letting go after retiring. I have so many pretty shoes, but I just don't wear them anymore.
I totally get this. I will never wear office wear and formal shoes, but I cannot let them go!
I kept only my very favorite pairs. The ones who have never made me feel pain, and only serve one purpose. Down to 3 pair.
Well done.
Thanks so much! and thanks for sharing your journey!! ❤️❤️❤️
At the weekend I decluttered the bedroom. Took the pictures off and got the old motors off from under our boxspringbeds.
I just love it. ❤❤❤ It's so much easier to clean under the bed now.
Thank you for your new tipps today. That's a big list!😅

I enjoy making and selling jewelry. I have 10 totes full of completed jewelry.
I’m proud to say that I’ve decluttered almost all that you’ve listed in this video. 🎉
The only thing I plan to keep is my genuine leather purses for my daughter. I have already decluttered The cheaply fast fashion ones and will no longer purchase. Instead I will invest in quality now so it’s rare when I buy a new purse but I will be saving them to pass down to her ❤
Thanks for sharing! That's amazing!
Love this! Great ideas 😍 thanks for sharing!!

Hi Becky, I’ve been following you for a while now, and I’ve seen your channel grow. I’m
so happy about that, because I’ve watched a lot of other minimalist living channels, but I’ve found your videos to be especially comforting.

How do you declutter old computers & phones (where do you take them/what do you do with them once you're done & have removed what you think you need...and are they secure?). I have a box of old tech stuff that I'd love to ditch but don't know what the heck to do with it!
We used to take our stuff to Best Buy which is a computer store near us and they would get rid of it but our dump also has a section for that stuff

It's on her to decide how she puts all those memories in the album or boxes, so she can enjoy them for the years to come.)
Technically it's not decluttering those things, but giving them another place where she has easy access to them.
I live alone and I had one glass to drink out of, and I noticed my glass measuring cup, so now no drinking glass.

Our floors seem pretty hardwood so we haven’t had any issues with scratching but I do keep the little washable rugs near the bed so it’s easier for my dogs to get on the bed ❤️❤️ I would get a ruggable like rug if I was to get one just for ease hope that helps some
@@minimalease Thank you!
Wooden floors are slippery for dogs. They can hurt their hips and knees. I put carpets and rugs everywhere just for the dogs. Saves vet bills, too.

Shampoo, etc. Maybe one of the reasons accommodation places supply these is because travellers can find that any bottles with liquid contents can be confiscated at the airport - very disappointing for those who have spent significant amount of money on these items & sometimes even bottled water.
