This is taken from a video where Roger show us how to play a number of Byrds tracks. Then, using nothing more than a swiss army knife he changes a string, adjusts the truss rod and changes the battery inside the 370/12. The whole thing is accompanied by Roger's live commentary, delivered with wit and charm, and is well worth watching whether you like his music or not..

I bet he could do that in his sleep. For many of us, this is the definitive arrangement.
McGuinn is consummate guitarist. He got excited about the 12-sting Rick after he found out George Harrison was using one for some of the then-current Beatles work. Don't ever underestimate the skill of people like McGuinn.
Listening to the Byrds really gave me a whole new perspective with the 12 string guitar. Roger McGuinn has become one of my guitar heroes for that. The 12 string guitar became my number 1 since discovering The Byrds a few years ago.
I was fortunate enough to see Roger McGuinn perform when he opened for Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Wembley Arena, London, UK, in 1987. Listening to and watching this brings some wonderful memories of a magical evening flooding back
Been listening to him since '65 and going to see him in concert next Tuesday evening. beyond excited and emotional just thinking about it.
Roger .. note perfect !
Aside from his talent you should admire McGuinn for being a survivor. Living through bad lifestyle choices and emerging still able to play is remarkable.
Beautiful!! Absolutely gorgeous!
Just found this and have goosebumps waiting in the hospital for major surgery pre op
Thank you Roger
Since i was a kid in the 60’s i was enamoured with your playing
Are you alright and listening again today?
Yes 7 hours of lower back surgery 3 weeks ago and started using a walker already re-learning how to walk. Doctors said will take over a year to heal and no lifting even a guitar for 4 months.
Wish I could have seen Roger with John Jorgenson years ago. Would be a Dream come true. Thanks Roger ps i own John Jorgenson Fender and g& l model guitars.
Good luck with your rehabilitation. I'm going to see Roger in the San Jose area of Calif. in April. I have never wanted to attend a concert as much as this. Loved Roger and the Byrds ever since I first heard them as a 12 year old in 1965.@@martydibergi5228
Growing up in the 60's was prolific enough Roger and the byrds was the icing on the cake...I still go to see him whenever he performs solo in the NY area,,,,, what a talent
This video is a treasure.
love this guitar and his playing
I'ts Rickenbacker
The 12-string Rick is a wonder of the universe.
I love playing McGuinn's style, I hope someday I get the opportunity to play this on a Rickenbacker 12-string.
Love this guy. That iconic guitar sound and intro and his voice.Another pop masterpiece from yesteryear.
Having seen Roger solo Many times, Clarence White Byrds, Mcguinn Clark &?Hillman all perform MTM… excellent versions in their own right. However my favourite version is when Roger performed the song backed by TP / Heartbrakers at the Dylan 30th anniversary at Madison Square Gardens… magical !
I. Love the byrds their music n sound is so unique
Well done. Didn’t realize how important the bass is in that song.
Thank you for sharing this! Phenomenal, underrated guitarist! I grew up listening to the Byrds.
Beautiful
wow, amazingly wonderful! a pair of rectangular shades would have made it perfect.
Wonderful
This way of playing is called Jingle Jangle
Che brividi!!!!!
GREAT ROGER 1 MASTER!
Without McGuinn, there definitely would have been no Byrds. He's like John Fogerty was to CCR.
jingle-jangle
Roger brilliant, God bless Bob Dylan 🙏

Great sound.
The Grorge Harrison of USA.

A lot going on there.
ABSOLUTE L--E--G--E--N--D--!
простая и всем понятная музыка. спасибо Jeiki OKB напомнило Бадди Холли
Sounds unplugged 😮
Hope you grew up enough to get rid of that silly mullet. And Gene Clark should have been the full-time lead singer of The Byrds.
