It never stops amazing me how good Matterhorn is. Like the first steel coaster should be some little kiddie coaster or a mine train or a small iron thrill ride. Instead you get big, duel track, crazy block system with a huge capacity, themed an absolute treat with a decent ride time, that is surprisingly smooth and absolutely a joy to ride. Matterhorn has no business being as good as it is.
Not the fastest coaster by any means but yes the themeing is unmatched and the entire ride you really feel like you are sledding down the mountain away from the yeti. Plus we have the better space mountain. More reason disneyland is superior to world lol
@@TargetSniper365 i think disney worlds space mountain feels more out of control because of all the sudden drops and the 1 person per row seating that are missing from the disneyland version
@@maliknelson5998 that’s because space mountain is a mattahorn clone but space themed. World doesn’t have the mattahorn. And world space mountain is just old and clunky and very rough. Land space mountain is exceptionally smooth and the side by side seating is much more modern

Going for the first time ever in October! I’m curious…. How rough would you say this ride is compared to say… thunder mountain or some universal rides like the Mummy? I’d expect some jerkiness for its age, but assume it’s somewhat smooth being a steel track
This isn't a rough ride in the way that it'll jack hammer your teeth off, but it's janky in a very enjoyable way. I found it to be a lot of fun when I held onto the bars in front of me. Another thing, the fantasyland side doesn't have a single drop
If you have any joint problems at all, even really mild ones, skip this ride. I can handle Thunder Mountain and the Mummy because the ride vehicles are fairly forgiving but the ride vehicle on Matterhorn does nothing to help how jerky it is. I go on it and by the time I get off I can hardly walk because my back is out of whack and it feels like both my hips have been dislocated because there's no cushion and nowhere in the seat to slide to eat up some of the force from the turns and nothing to hold you firmly in place so you slam into the hard sides of the toboggin with all the force of each turn. I love this ride but I can't do it anymore ever since they changed the cars.
This ride is literally the first of its kind so it was built before standards were set in place for building roller coaster rides. The track itself is smooth, but the layout is fairly rough. Hard to compare it to Thunder Mountain and the Mummy, but if i had to I‘d say The Mummy in California’s hard break section, where the bugs come out of the wall, is basically how the entire ride feels like at the Matterhorn
Try buying a chimichanga at eidelweiss snacks, then put it in your backpack that you bring with you, get in line for the Matterhorn, unwrap a little bit of the top, put it back in you backpack get on the ride, and as your going up the lifthill, take a bite of it as you see Harold, what a sneaky and fun expierence
